It will be Encore for no other reason than it is an Encore building with their brand profile. It would be too much to change the look of the property at this late date, and they sure as **** wouldn't let it stay as is with someone else's name on it.

Look no further than the casino that started going up next to the properties in Vegas. They tried to copy the Encore look and got sued into bolivia and had to change the design mid-stream.

That lawsuit is long gone, per Resorts World, while the it might look like Wynn properties design right now, it won’t by the time things are finished.

Wow, I've never felt you were so wrong before. That's a weird feeling.

1. "[T]hey...wouldn't let it stay with someone else's name on it"? If they lose this license, what else COULD they do with the building? Knock it down, instead of sell it???

2. Comparing someone who buys the building you designed, to someone who tried to copy your design without your permission, is certainly a stretch, at least.
04-14-2019 , 06:19 PM
ytf let me dumb this down for ya. If the building below, which is essentially built, doesn't have the Encore name on it, it sure as **** isn't going to be allowed to look like the building below with some other name on it. That's all I'm saying.

Can’t be MGM cause they would have to sell Springfield first.

Who’s gonna step in?
As pointed out above, MGM would pay someone to take Springfield off their hands to move into the Boston market. As far as Mayor DeMaria, he took offense to Mohegan's public statement and made a hasty reply which included calling Mohegan a "gaming parlon" incapable of operating a 5-star resort. I wouldn't read much into that response that he would veto a deal if it benefitted the City of Everett.

Push comes to shove does the Encore Board of Directors fire Maddox and force Elaine Wynn to sell her shares?

Bottom line is they'll never truly know who knew what. The report has no evidence/facts that Maddox was in on it. It might sound suspicious but there are a million things I don't know about my boss or my mentor or my best friend or people very close to me. So they're going to force out an innocent man if he truly knew nothing?

Not sure how to handle the Elaine situation and I have no idea what her role is in the day to day operations of the place so if she was forced to sell there are worst things to happen to a human than to cash out a lot of $$$.

Why are we even wasting our time talking about the MGC pulling this license? Are we really that bored with our lives that we need to carry on about such a non news worthy story. (#fakenews)

As I stated in post #198 in this thread if you understand how the political wheels grind in this state you would know there is less than ZERO percent chance of this happening. They will pontificate and make some noise but when the dust settles it will be business as usual in Everett. For those of you to busy to scroll back here is my post #198 below dated back when the hearings were jut kicking off:

If anyone thinks that they are going to pull this license then you are dumber than a box of rocks. There is way to much money at stake here and I'm not even talking about Encore's money I'm talking about what government/the state of Mass stands to make here... a pulling of the license or even a delay would put a dent in the coffers of the state and local municipalities, they will just be shooting themselves in the foot. There will be the normal blah blah blah followed by a big fine, followed by Encore opening on the exact day it plans to open on... nothing more nothing less. You heard it here first.

I don't think anyone is doubting this or expects a different outcome for the reasons you state. This is however a forum and there still is a closed-door deliberation taking place so discussing a "what if" scenario a poster mentions isn't abnormal. I'd be surprised if anyone truly believes Encore won't open on June 23rd.

I really and truly appreciat the links, Pierre, as I'm very keenly interested in this story....but now I'm going to LOLOLOLOL at them.

The first cites "pressure is mounting from the powerful Boston Globe’s editorial staff," which brings to mind Stalin's famous quote about pressure being applied by the Pope: "How many Divisions does the Pope have?"

The second is an expert who feels strongly that the company has done enough to satisfy regulators. Um, lady--do you even Massachusetts Gaming Commission???

I just hate politics and people who get put into office who try to make it about themselves instead of serving the public good which is move this thing along so they can hire thousands of people, create lots of jobs, give people a place to go and have fun, create tax dollars to the local communities, etc... I just want the MGC to do what is best for most people and that is just fine them and move along. Making everyone look bad and asking for major changes when so many experts said they are doing a great job is laughable.

9 weeks to go!!!

I heard parking will be $45/day
04-19-2019 , 09:21 AM
I have to believe that if parking is really gonna be that much , it will hurt attendance. I'm sure there will be free shuttles as I've heard, but not sure I'd go that route on a cold/snowy/rainy New England day.

I'd rather drive to Springfield or CT than pay that much. They can probably get away with this though since desperate commuters would pay that to get into Boston. Hopefully they'll have a very expensive base rate and then validate for casino and restaurant customers.

It's not like you walk the streets of Springfield.

Haha well I might be bluffing. I work in downtown Boston so I'll probably take public transportation or maybe the boats on weekday evenings. On weekends though, subway could take an hour for me since the lines run less often, which makes a drive to a casino with free parking more attractive.

I was just teasing. I work in Boston too. I'm thinking a quick ride on the T and then a quick uber ride. No parking! I'd say Uber all the way but traffic is going to be the real beast in their location.

Well sure if you're from Worcester. I've never been to the Springfield casino. I'd like to try out their poker room but the drive is comparable to FW which has free rooms.

The streets of Springfield wouldn't matter to me. I don't leave the poker room.

$45 seems steep even for the city and they should 100% validate for restaurant/gambling/poker/show patrons to something like $5. It will never be free.

I can't imagine a couple going to the buffet spending $100 on food and then paying $45 to park, that would be so crazy.

I wonder where the nearest parking lot that will charge $20 and have a shuttle will be.

The proposed (but not committed/started) bridge from The Row means that before it's built you could park there and take the Orange Line to Sullivan, one stop, and walk from there. $10 all day, but I imagine it won't stay that way once the casino opens... or maybe it will... we'll have to see.

I am sure there will be many other options for local parking popping up once things get going, especially if the parking rates are steep.

You WILL have parking validated with play at Encore so this shouldn't be a concern to anyone. They have to charge parking rates competitive or higher than the rest of the city to avoid non-casino patrons from parking in their garage at a discount. This was discussed a page or two ago.

45 dollars? Small price to pay for luxury low limit poker - small price to pay to never have to set foot in either dump in CT ever again. Glad to pay it and I promise you other Rec players like me with money will feel the same
04-20-2019 , 01:32 PM
I have to believe that they will validate parking for table games , slots, maybe even poker. Also, any monies spent on shops , restaurants should off set parking costs. At least I hope so...
04-24-2019 , 07:54 PM
I'm hearing from someone that's gonna be working there that it will not be validated.. hoping they're full of **** but.....
