I remember the National Harbor Open in DC was an absolute **** show for opening night.

They were actually turning people away and traffic to the resort was at a stand still.

Even first several weekends they would actually cap the amount of people able to enter the casino (DC has a race track of shops/restaurants around the casino). And you could not re-enter regardless. Even if your chips were at a time game for poker...

Assuming it will be like this for a while until everything settles down.

Went to the soft opening tonight, beautiful venue and really felt like you were in Vegas. Poker room is massive and even nicer than expected. Lot of space between the tables and great views of the casino floor. Had a mix of very experienced dealers from local casinos (Chasers, Hampton Falls, etc) and some new ones who were definitely a bit nervous but found a groove after dealing for a bit. Played some 1/3 and talked to one of the floor managers who moved here from Commerce. Asked about tournaments and they will likely be starting them in September.

Traffic to the venue was insane so would definitely recommend taking public transport if possible. Without traffic from my neighborhood in Boston to Encore its about 15m. Today it took 45-50m leaving around 530. The soft opening was ~5,000 guests and they’re expecting 30,000 for the opening so I’m expecting traffic to be worse. Will probably go Sunday and if traffic is insane, I’ll take the orange line to Sullivan and walk.

We will see next week but its probably not worth the hassle driving in and out on your on. We don't know if lots will be full and the last stretch could be horrible once the casino traffic piles on with the other traffic. 16 and 99 are the two main roads getting you in and both are horrible with the traffic. ubers might not be a bad idea but again it'll be a standstill at points.

I think your best bet is to stay near a shuttle and prepared in addition to paying a nice price for a hotel be also willing to take time moving around. It won't be easy at points and the fact you don't know you're way around could be annoying.

knowing the city will make it easier. I'm 3 miles from the casino and I have multiple plans to get in and out depending on the time of day. we will see how they turn out.

How many miles is your neighborhood to encore?

You mean you'll be walking over the Malden bridge? That seems like it'll be a longish but ok walk (at least during the nice half of the year), but I can't say it's appealing to imagine doing it late at night, or during inclement weather, especially Nov-March.

Is the bridge next to the Assembly T station (aka the closed Mystic View bridge) the one the-powers-that-be are talking about eventually making available to pedestrians, or do they plan to build an entirely new one? That would be a far nicer and easier walk than from the SullySqT and maybe only needs some good barrier fencing along its length. (but who knows - maybe it's ready to fall into the river).

Anyone been there (very) recently? I know it's been closed to non-official vehicle traffic for ages, but in the past, the gates have often been open, so people could walk right across. When I go (Sunday possibly), I might get off at Wellington, take Encore's shuttlebus to the riverwalk dropoff next to costco, and then take 5 minutes to walk down Mystic View Rd from the Encore side to see what the deal is.

Poker Atlas huh. Still SO buggy. Reviews on Play Store agree. Have updated version downloaded. Won't let me add a phone number. If you can't add a phone # you can't register for a table, which is kind of the point.

Uninstalled. Reinstalled. Made a whole new profile. New text verification etc. Accepted my phone # now. So strange. But at least it works now!

Taking the T for us locals sounds like the best option to get there.
But what will out options be if we want to go home around 3 in the morning? I think services stop at 12:30 am.
06-20-2019 , 08:49 AM
The T runs a bit later than that. The walking path from Sullivan is pretty easy and very safe. Not the Malden bridge. A nice sidewalk and bike path. I'm also considering buying a bike as well. Bluebikes could be an option too.

At 3AM I'd take an Uber home. It won't be too expensive or inconvenient at that time. My plan early next week is to walk to Dunkies get a cold brew, hop the 101 to Sullivan and walk. Other tiems next week I'll try driving to Station Landing or Wellington. I could pretty easily bike to those spots as well but who knows how I'll enjoy that.

Confirmed with the floors last night 2/5 700 max, 5/T 1500max, 10/25 5000max, above that will be uncapped. 5T with be time rake at $9/half hr. Room was unbelievably gorgeous and spacious. All tables 9 handed. $1/hr comps.

They will be able to spread basically anything game wise, just a few random games they are unsure of at this point.

Didnt ask specifically on that, but when talking about limit mixed games, they said they will run whatever stakes people want to play.

This hype is real. Just reloaded my CharlieCard because I'm gonna be commuting the **** out of the orange line to get to this place. If I had a car, I wouldn't take it anywhere near this place.

Any soft opening food and restaurant reports? I work in the service industry locally the Encore opening has sent a real shockwave through the restaurant industry here in the last couple months. They hired A TON OF PEOPLE.

She's a beauty. Sure looks spacious.

For the low rollers has anything been confirmed?

Are we looking at 1/2 300 max or 1/3 500 max?

Please 1/3 500 max!!!

Great info so far. Thanks to all.
My first option is take the Orange line from Forest Hills. Looks like that's what I'll be doing. Guess I'll be doing mostly day sessions.
But is it to nity of me to voice my concerns of carrying 1k of cash on me on public transportation?

Does anyone know if we'll have an option of a deposit box at the property?

Tried opening a box last night but they weren't ready yet. They are hoping/planning for boxes to be ready on day 1. I heard $300 for a small box.

Forgive my ignorance - never had a box - I assume this is a refundable deposit?
