Same. Especially after today

Sorry if this has been answered already, just curious if anyone has a definitive answer if encore will be charging for parking and if so how much? I'll come no matter what.

What time does the T stop running? Is there any talk of them running trains later or possibly 24 hrs?

How can they not with all commuters looking for a parking spot and an Uber to work

Can they possibly validate ?
03-24-2019 , 09:37 AM
I would assume if you play slots, pit games, poker, etc... and actively contribute to their bottom line there should be some validation but I've heard of worse. You can walk into the Bellagio or Aria and lose $2000 playing $100 hand blackjack over 30 mins and if you ask for parking they'll have to go through an entire process which makes it not worth the $20 or so charge. But I guess due to the shortage of parking in the city they have to do something.

This is especially funny if anyone watches Billions and the first episode of Season 4 this past season was about a parking pass that would basically allow you to park anywhere in NYC which is highly coveted.

All the hassles of the T are not worth it. While there are multiple train stations, etc... it is a waste of time. Just do Uber Pool or some other ride sharing with people going in the general direction for a fraction of regular Uber X. It will be busy 24/7 because of how densely everything is packed in that general geographical area. Going from multiple trains to a shuttle, etc... it will take so long to get there vs door to door with Uber Pool.

Yeah yeah yeah. All you nits will last like a week paying $30 per day to park.

The Orange Line runs until 1AM. Wellington would be the primary stop but there has been discussion of a pedestrian bridge from Assembly Row, which would be more convenient (and likely safer late at night).

I have not heard of any discussion on extending T services. I don't use MBTA buses, so they might have different hours.

I can’t imagine the T schedule changing. Uber/Lift is going to be your best bet returning late in the evening.

CEO sexually harassed women. While this is horrible, this is a multi-billion dollar business and should be able to move on and not be dragged down by things that went down that for the most part was pretty hush hush. Another 20-30 million fine on the way.

I think the closest orange line stop is Sullivan Square, unless a bridge is constructed as Assembly. Only 1 mile from Encore, while Wellington is over 2 miles away.

--The Parking Pass bit on Billions might have been the best part of the episode, lol.

--"How late does the T run?", is bringing back awful childhood memories of having to leave an extra-inning game at Fenway because we parked at Sullivan Square to save money on parking...Yaz *and* Fisk hit HR's after we left (one to tie, the other FTW), and all we tired children cried listening to it in the car on the drive home.

How long ago was this? "Last train leaves Kenmore at 12:30" flashed on this old thing, advising us to get moving:

--I cannot imagine this casino won't AT LEAST have a free shuttle bus to downtown or Sullivan Sq or SOME sort of public transportation option. Am I nuts?

EDIT TO ADD: every time I tell a decades-old sports story online, someone fact-checks me and comes back with, "There was a never an extra-inning game at Fenway where Yaz+Fisk homered." I am wrong about these things 100% of the time, and look like a liar. Allow me to concede up front that the only part of my story that is true is that we left early and listened to a Red Sox HR on the radio...it may not have even been extra innings, maybe a rain-delayed "twi-light double header", which used to be a thing.

That story makes me sad

Blee is absolutely correct. I would like to say I meant to say Sullivan, but it was just a straight-up brain fart.

They gotta build that bridge at Assembly tho.
03-24-2019 , 08:33 PM
How long is this bridge to Assembly? Seems like if they haven't started it yet it will require additional funding, legislation, zoning, permits, etc... all takes a long time.

Encore is going to have a 3,000 spot parking garage for 670 rooms along one of the heaviest traffic areas in the country. Add to that 5,800 employees. Getting in and out of that place will be a mess. They will definitely charge, and validations will prob be similar to Wynn Vegas where it’s free if you spend (at restaurants and shops, not gamble) $50 while there.

That said, the poker room should have great games 24/7. The traffic and parking mess will have people coming at all off times.

Who will pay for a $23 million footbridge to the Wynn casino?

Confirmed: employees will not be parking on property... they will be shuttled in from satellite lots.

The author of that article fails to mention the fight that Somerville Mayor Curtatone will put up to not build this bridge. He's been extremely vocal in the past of how a bridge only benefits the casino and not his city.

https://www.masslive.com/boston/2019...bta-stops.html

Shuttle buses to two nearby T stops 24/7 every 10-15 minutes, plus "robust" water taxi service from several spots along the water.
03-25-2019 , 09:39 PM
So the mayor of Somerville thinks that people will walk across the bridge and go to the casino and spend all their $ there vs the other way around. I have zero clue what reality will be but I love how short sighted politicians are.

I did drive by today and noticed the entire area has quite a few new hotels being built.

Stopped into a Dunkin and the locals were chatting up the casino and how their rent is going up. This is an area with very few owners so that makes sense.

I don’t know how this would be considered shortsighted with so many studies showing evidence that casinos do harm to the local economy. Has there been one instance of a casino showing a positive impact on that city/towns economy and that of neighboring communities? The mayor is protecting his town best he can.
