Anyone played the 4/8 O8? Thinking of giving it a go this weekend if it runs.

I've played it many times at Encore. First thing I'll say, it could use new blood. I've had mixed results. It's tough to get someone off a hand. There are a lot of preflop callers if it's not raised. Depending on the lineup if you do raise preflop you'll become the most hated player at the table. Even when I've had winning sessions in that game it wasn't fun. Anyways give it a shot.

Thanks for the input, sounds like it’s worth a try. I’ve never played O8 before so hopefully I don’t piss anyone off too bad.

Poker Atlas is updated to say that poker comps are now available to use at casual dining options all over the property. Can anyone confirm?

Man you guys are harsh. I took a vacation that mainly included reading 50 pages per day of the Mike Postle cheating scandal here.
If it’s any consolation, I’ve corrected numerous players and dealers on the parking issue at Mohegan and Foxwoods over the past 2 weeks Encore Boston Harbor Casino (Everett, MA) - FAQ in OP
Including 5 minutes ago to a guy who had no idea who I was despite saying he has read every post itt

Parking responsibilities are to be prioritized over any potential superuser allegations and subsequent investigations.

Is 4/8 Omaha-8 still running on Thursdays? If so, what time can I expect the game to go? Thinking about heading down but would only be interested in an O8 or mixed Limit game.

The times that I've been there and played in it, the game got going between 4 and 5. It's been going every Thursday and Sunday and most Fridays and Saturdays.

4-8 Omaha hi lo is full of all kinds of players with all different levels of experience and philosophies about the game. It is a fun game full of loose passive go to river at all costs for any amount of bets and re-evaluate then players to ultra aggressive bottom two pairs on the flop is the nuts and must cap as well players. Some do get angry if you raise pre-flop or raise each other in multi-way pots but that is a part of the game.

You can still get Angry Orchard as a beer in a bottle.

One time my table of 2-2 PLO players all got a round of White Russians and it was probably the smallest drink I've ever been served, probably 4 ounces of liquid.

I drove an hour to play today. Got there at 4:35, game called at 4:45 with 12 on the list. Two of us showed up. Stuck playing shitty LHE now and contemplating the buffet.

Why is O8 so hard to get off the ground? Same bullshit at Foxwoods historically with the 5/10 HK.

Human nature. The first element is that there are people that sign up that have no intention of playing. They just want to see their initials up in lights and their friends see that they are sophisticated enough to play it.

The second element is that they get in another game and either do too well to want to leave or lose so much they leave the casino. Finally, there are people who don't want to stick out by being the one or two people waiting. They don't want to join unless the table is full.

Two dumb questions about the 4/8 half kill game since I’ve never played before — 1) when the half kill is on, are the small and big blinds still $2/$4? and 2) does action still start UTG (after the BB) or after the kill blind?

Not dumb questions. Yes the blinds are still $2/$4. The kill will post a $6 blind. Preflop and post flop the big bet is $6. Turn and river the big bet becomes $12.
The action starts UTG like any game and most often the kill will act before the blinds. Also a lot of people don’t know this but you can straddle the kill if the kill is in the BB and UTG has that option.

What is the required amount for the kill on a scoop?

$80.

Another question - what’s the max # of bets in a multiway pot? We had 2 dealers tell us 4, just had a huge hand where suddenly it was 5 bets with the new Dealer. Maddeningly inconsistent with something fundamentally simple.

It's four raises so five total bets.

Lol. Sophisticated enough to play o8? It’s a game for OMCs.
I think it’s more like people sign up for the game they see the shortest list for

This is the product of being able to sign up online with the click of a button as well. It is common to see the same name on 4-5 lists.

Anyone want to try getting a daytime mix game on Monday October 14? I'll start the lists for 8/16, 20/40, and 40/80 around 8:30 AM.

Count this OMC in. They do double comps between 4am to 10am right? Let’s start the game at 6:30am so we get a little something more

I'd play 8/16 but won't be there until 10ish.

It is pretty standard to sign up for a few games to start playing something. When a different game opens up, people make a choice to stay or move.

Call ins and poker atlas looks convenient, but all it does is create long phantom lists of people who will not show up to play when games are called. It only makes things difficult for an inexperienced staff as they have to estimate what % of phantom names will show in a reasonable time.

EBH Poker tweeted out last night that this Tuesday and Wednesday from 11am to 11pm they will be running a high hands promo. $500 every 30 minutes.

I have seen this sentiment now a few times and it just doesn't make any sense. Yes, I can use the app to put my name on the list but until I arrive at the poker room and check in there is a little green poker chip next to my name. The floor is not calling games for people that have not checked in. The app or phone ins have nothing to do with creating "phantom" lists.

If I can tell the difference between people that have checked in to the room and those that have not, I'm pretty sure the floor can as well. It's no different than any other room with a list, people get on it and then either get into a different game, wander off to the pits, or get bored and leave.
