Jpsychlady is correct in that Boston has an enormous post-graduate population returning to town this week. I would imagine the large majority of those entering the poker room would be in the 1/3 pool.

When you say 20 you mean 20/40? I'd prefer 10/20 I think. What chips do you use in 8/16? $2 chips? Or red and white? I haven't played much limit in years, but I would think 10 20 would use nice familiar (for a 1-3NL player) red chips.

On the subject of 'students' in the Boston area. I own a biz that focuses on tourism and helping people become familiar with and getting into colleges/universities around here. These figures are all approximate but gives you an understanding of the scope we are talking about.

There are over 150,000+ people attending the colleges/universities around here. This does not even include community colleges and those that offer part time or associates degrees, etc... so the number is higher.

Most schools have a 50/50 ratio of undergraduates to graduates. For example Boston University (the biggest) has 32,000 total students and it is around 16,000 undergrad and 16,000 graduate. The graduates are getting Masters, PhDs, as well as all kinds of professional degrees like a MBA, JD, MD, Masters of Social Work, CAGS (cert of adv grad studies in education), etc...

We can safely assume that 5/8ths of all the students are over 21. 1/4th of the undergrads and all the graduate students so we're looking at over 100,000 people who are not actively in school until next week. Combine that will all the people who support their studies like Professors, Lab Technicians, Library Staff, Cafeteria workers, Janitors, Dorm staff, etc... we'll just conservatively call it 100,000 people returning help boost the local economy. If we are lucky and 1% of them are interested in poker that would be an extra 1000 people who might come through the room sometime. Maybe it is half that and we'll 500 new faces. I have no idea but just throwing out numbers for perspective.

I think that because 1/4th of the undergraduates would be new to being 21+ this year (20,000 people) it will be their first time playing live legally in a public poker room.

Of the new first year Business, Law, Dental, Medical, Social Work, Education, etc... students hopefully they're new to the Boston area and will want to play poker in a new poker room too. Time will tell if we have new players and hopefully it will trickle up as people win and take shots at bigger games.

So I’m going to head up there around 3pm this Sunday I’ll start the list for 8-16 Mix. I’ll play short if we have to. We can figure out the games once it gets going.

I wouldn’t mind a mix of the following:

- Badugi
- Deuce To Seven Triple Draw
- Omaha 8
- Stud 8
- Razzdeucy 2-7 (split pot game, aces are high with the best razz hand winning half the pot and the best deuce to seven hand winning the other half)

If anyone wants to add a game or remove one feel free to do so.

I believe it’s all they offer for beer, period. My seat neighbor got denied a Corona. Not sure about cider.

I'm not adding my name to this list just yet, but there's about a 30% chance I'll be around this day and if I am I'm definitely interested.

I think the split pot draw games are fun/interesting and would agitate for one of them if I'm there (so one or all of Archie/badeucy/badacey).

I am down for any/all games but in the interest of trying to attract new players I think the best is HOET to get things going and hopefully some players will jump in.

The 4-8 Omaha8 game is building up a regular group of players Thu-Sun evenings and they've talked about making it Hold'em/Omaha8 since everyone at that table at one point was playing limit hold'em. They're doing that because there are often 2 tables of 4-8 limit hold'em going and maybe some of the hold'em players will jump into HO.

Would def also play 6/12 or 8/16 mix of whatever they'll run on Sun

I only meant that there would be additional players entering the room especially at the 1/3NL level. I don’t know there is any value in generalizing a new player as a post-grad without any additional information.

Rhode Island has a college population of 80,000+, all of which are 18+. How much traffic does that generate for Twin? Considering Twin has a monopoly on 18-20 year old players this may be a good comparison.

It's easier for a college student in Boston to hop on the T and go to Encore than it is for someone in any of the RI colleges to get to Twin
