A few days ago I checked rates and they were much cheaper like 2-300, now it is back to 3-500 for most nights in August but it did include a $100 resort credit for the most basic room and it is no longer 6-700.

Quick and dirty trip report from my first trip last week (Tuesday 12-9PM)

Traffic/Parking - obviously I came during a non peak time (Tuesday at like 12), but coming from west of the city on the pike to 93 was cake. Taking everyone’s advice, I went right to the north elevators in the garage (went all the way to the bottom to get a prime spot quickly). On validation, i just Came back to the poker room to have them validate after I had finished playing/went to dinner with my brother knowing I’d have 30 minutes to exit. If you know to hang onto your ticket and plan accordingly to be able to exit and 30 this is super easy.

Floor/Vibe/Poker Room Vibe- it came out great. I’m an avid visitor of their Vegas properties (I stay at encore LV for the WSOP for 7-10 days every year on average. So knowing the product I had high expectations and they were certainly met. I love that there is no smoke and that the poker room overlooks the casino. It’s also nice how they have the high limit and the VIP areas separate. Cards, tables, chairs, chips etc all top notch...reminds me of 2005 when the Wynn first opened in LV. Dealers as many have reported were a huge mix. Some were slow and not confident, needing help or taking a long time to spot the winner or push the whole pot etc. others were very experienced and competent and then of course there were the middle of the road. Saw one attractive reg Asian dealer from FW playing 1-3 and really wish she was dealing instead!

Poker - played 1/3 for 4 hours, played 2/5 for 3 hours and played 2-2 PLO for 2-3 hours. PLO was a nit fest at my table with no action. 1-3 NL was very good for a Tuesday afternoon with 3-4 callers to a flop with the standard open of 12-13. There was some 3 betting but not a ton of light or polarized 3 betting. There was a 1200 dollar all in on the 3rd hand with two plush draws, a set and an open end straight draw getting it in for the max. Can’t be bad. 2/5 was myeh - lot of rocks and refs and former FW/Mohegan faces all trying to eek out their 5/BB per hour. Many of them were more concerned about playing enough to get parking validated.

Food - I wanted to go to Sinatra but my brother loves buffets (sigh) - it was fine...for buffets it was obviously good but not as expansive as the Wynn LV buffet. Deserts were the best part although the carving stations were decent. Sushi selection was lame. Pasta was a little flat and the pizza was myeh. Asian food was good but a bit too salty.

Since I’m a corporate exec and not a poker grinder I obviously Love having this amenity right near my job and can’t wait to spend many hours playing here in the future. Excited to be back on a weekend and hope to see the limit and maybe some mid stakes Horse type games pick up.

Lastly, it was very encouraging to seeing the local community packing the pit on a Tuesday afternoon and evening degen ing it up for 25-50 a hand tables - I saw no shortage of action and heard they did 30M in rev in their first two weeks

So if you don't plan on leaving right after your session (going to dinner, playing other games, etc), you shouldn't get your validation right then and there, but pop into the room on your way out and get it then?

Yes. It’s super convenient if you park by the north elevators

That's what I did and there were no problems.

Odd question: I’ve had a few Encore employees applying to the open roommate spot in my apartment - I only play poker there, but would having an employee living with me affect my ability to play there? Not sure what their exact functions are yet, but I would be worried if they were poker dealers.

Comp dollars showing on my login page now. However only 6.25 points which is about what I played my last visit (Saturday) not matching up with my total hours played since opening.

Huh. Page doesn't work for me at all.

Unless it's because I've been using the Red Card I got in Vegas instead of a Boston one?

I have 34 hours of play at Encore Boston now so should have 34 compdollars, I would expect.

It sounds like they got it working a few days ago for play going forward, but they still need to work the backlog into the system.

I had an issue where I had two cars numbers, one from Vegas and a new one. My online account was linked to the Vegas card, but when I asked about it at the red card desk, they combined my accounts into the one that was NOT linked to the web account.

What eventually worked was, I logged in, and changed my email address to a different one. Then I created a new red card account using my original email address and it let me link it to the new card.

I guess a lot of confusion was due to the two red card accounts being associated with the same email address.

Hope this helps!

I don't have a Boston card at all, on day one they took my Vegas red card so I never bothered.

It must be like Lattimer said; CompDollars show up for any play after XX date, and all play prior to XX date isn't showing yet. I have't played there since Thursday.

I have checking poker atlas (which I hate) and it seems they get a few guys on the list for O8 and Big O but they never go. Also what is the tournament deal? Will they have big events? Want to take 4 days go there but only if I can get some mixed game action or value in tourneys.

My balance is exactly the total from my last session ( 5.5 hours on July 25th) and includes none of the ones before that (July 23rd and prior). I did get my card back in Vegas in November, I think I used all my points/comps from poker and a short Blackjack session but even if I didn't that's obviously more than 180 days ago so they would have expired.

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but the "Tournament Room" is now filled with blackjack tables. I don't care about tournaments so i'm torn on this one. On the plus side it'd be nice have pit games close to the poker room as it might attract more degens, but it looked pretty nice in there and I wouldn't mind playing in that room. Actually before they took away the poker tables it seemed like it would be a better "VIP" room than the one they have.

I believe the original plan was to start running tournaments in that room in September. Even if that's still the plan, there's no reason to keep that room idle when they could be making money off it between now and then.

Last week a dealer I trust said they were putting lower limit Blackjack in there, tournaments would be in the main poker room since they're only using about 70 of the 88 tables in the main room when they're at they're busiest.

I was under the impression that 88 tables included those in that room. No?

9 pts for me, not accurate based on how many hours I've played, but it's a start (only signed up for Boston card, never had a Vegas one)

Yes it does. There are 74 tables outside of the tournament room and 14 were inside. Table #74 is the last table down by the elevators and the women's room.

As mentioned already, there are now blackjack tables in there. I thought maybe they were going to do a blackjack tournament with them. Not sure it makes sense to have low limit tables in a different location than all the other tables. Saturday night around 11 there were 3/2 tables that were not even open. My guess was they did not have enough dealers since all the other tables were packed.

Sorry, yes. I started writing a reply and failed to edit correctly when I came back. Basically they're not concerned about a tournament taking too much away from cash game availability because there are plenty of tables available through much of the day.

With the cash game action we’ve seen on the weekends, would t they need that separate tournament room for the actual tournaments? Like I’d have imagine if they ran a decent 300 or 400 weekly sat morning tourney they’d get 150 runners and that’s 15-20 tables right here - then of course for bigger series they could have double that easily for 500s etc. I really hope they use that room for events because otherwise the cash game waits on the weekends during the tourneys will suck
