Yea that is odd. 1/2 is always 300 and 1/3 is 500 everywhere. Hopefully it changes

Forgive my ignorance here.... are the lines to get in due to the place being packed and at max capacity (i.e. - Fire Marshall won't let anyone in until ppl leave) or is this a grand/soft opening thing?

It was an opening thing and lasted a few hours. At 2PM there were no more lines already. There shouldn't be a line to get in there anymore.

It was probably done to prevent a crush. I hate situations like that.

It was because they were at max capacity.

Second what everyone is saying here, esp with the disparity in dealers. One in particular was so atrocious I almost sat out his half hour down. He was dealing the 10/10plo game in the VIP room and dealt about 10 or so hands the whole down and exposed 11 cards. Wish I had been in the 7 or 8 seat to see just how many cards he was flashing. It was ridiculous even by first day standards, especially his attitude with a "I hope you all have a GREAT day" as he left

I cringe to think of what traffic will be like tonight on my way in.

Cashiering: Again. Cashing out chips took 30+ minutes. Super long line and VERY slow behind the cage. None of them knew how to use the computer system so each one was waving down the manager for help.

Setting: 10 handed in main room, 9 handed in VIP room. Decent room between tables in main room, super spread out in VIP room...
Nice post, thanks. Minor correction, main room was 9 handed as well.

Cashier line was annoying. A lot of people were buying chips from people waiting to cash out.

Was staying at a local hotel fairly close. Parked at hotel, took Uber from hotel to Encore around 1pm, not much traffic at all. Waited in the long line outside for a good 30-40 minutes just to get in. Easy check in at the poker room. Signed up for 5/10 and 10/20 NL. One game going at the time for 10/20 and then they called a must move 2nd table 10/20 game.

Chip runners can't take more than $1k without a red card. I didn't have mine so went up to cashier cage with my drivers license. They couldn't find I had a red card. I know I did. So told me to go wait in the 20 person red card line. Waited in line, scanned my DL, and low and behold, I have a red card, no kidding. Then back to cashiering cage to finally get my chips for the 10/20 game 30 minutes later.

Must move never got above 6 people and eventually broke. Played 5/10 until named called for main 10/20 game. Some dealers good. Some literally their first day and didn't know how to deal, collect time, etc. Very very mixed. But hopefully will improve with time.

Service in the VIP was overall excellent. All food and drink servers must go right past the tables to get the food and drink, so always was someone available.

10/20 game was solid, lots of players I've seen around at various rooms. Went until around 3am then broke. 4-5 5/10 games going all day and night. That's not seen very many places anywhere in the world.

Cashiering: Again. Cashing out chips took 30+ minutes. Super long line and VERY slow behind the cage. None of them knew how to use the computer system so each one was waving down the manager for help.

Setting: 10 handed in main room, 9 handed in VIP room. Decent room between tables in main room, super spread out in VIP room. Comfortable chairs, USB ports, stuff we knew. Mezzanine, good and bad. Good is nice and open, can see whole floor, very open feeling. Bad is the casino music and casino itself is very loud, tough to hear dealer and other players. Not sure if there's a solution.

Filled out application to safety deposit box. Said they'd let us know in 1-2 months. $300 refundable deposit.

Until next time...

PS - Backpacks: Several red coats told people with backpacks not to bring them next time they won't be allowed in. Women basically any size purse they want it seemed like. I had a very small hiking backpack and had a "discussion" with a red coat about what size is allowed versus not allowed..
Thanks for the writeup. Any idea how many boxes they have available?

I thought the 5/10 game was 10 handed but didn't play very long. Thank you for the correction. I like 9 handed games WAY more than 10 handed!

They didn't say. My guess on the 1-2 month wait is they want to see who's actually playing there, how many hours, limits, etc. Said if approved we'd get a call from the poker room manager with next steps.

Any red card information?

I heard 1$/hour for poker games... Do we get any random benefits like other cards? Such as a free buffet or free dinner?

Also, can you cash out points for real money with red card?

I've received some offers for Encore Vegas, so maybe there will be something offered at some point. For now, I wouldn't count on anything more than comp dollars.

What would be considered a major? Events like the WSOP circuit or? Wynn Vegas runs their own ‘Wynn Classic’ tournament series with a much smaller room so I would expect Encore to be able to run some decent sized events if the motivation is there.

I recall the regs. @ Mohegan Sun going ballistic when they went from 10 handed to 9 handed.

Sigh. Because they went with the better option.

Lattimer, can we enact sone sort of penalty when someone asks the same question that’s been answered 20xs already?

My wife and I went to the Grand Opening and I loved it!

I wish I had known the freaking parking garage would be empty and easy and free; We parked at Forest Hills ($3), took the T to Wellington ($2.75 each), took an Encore shuttle bus from there, which actually dropped us off behind some Costco that was near the casino (special opening day / big crowd situation). From there we had to walk a good 5-10 minutes just to get in the massive line outside.

They actually had fireworks go off at 10:00, not sure if I've even seen a whole fireworks show in broad daylight before (it worked though).

We were then stuck in that disgusting line (HOT, no shade, no water, had to pee, everyone crammed together and bumping into each other) to get in for 45 minutes or so before salvation finally came; My wife had a nail appointment for 11:00, so she called them up and they sent someone outside to find us in line, pull us OUT of the line, and bring us right in! She went up to the salon and I headed right to the poker room. That was nice customer service.

As others have said the poker room is GORGEOUS, just as nice as the nicest Vegas rooms if not nicer. Gotta be the nicest poker room on the East Coast (though I haven't been everywhere). I love the size, the decor, the space between tables, the seats, the tables, the games, it's all great!

I asked for $2/$5 and got immediately brought to a new table that was starting, and all 9 seats filled up quick and we got going right away!

I have seen some comments about bad dealers either here or on reddit or both, but my experience at my $2/$5 table was the opposite; All 5-6 dealers I had were competent and fast and made few to no mistakes. In fact, the biggest slowdown BY FAR which I write off as opening day issues was the whole chip runner situation. If you need to add more money to your stack, you can put $100s (and once they allowed a guy to put $50s so any denomination might work) behind your stack and they play, BUT they also hit a button for a chip runner and he or she shows up and takes your money away, in order to return with chips later. Well on opening day sometimes the chip runners would be gone for 5 minutes, 10 minutes, over an hour! That might sound like an exaggeration but it is not, around 3:00 I had to add on a $100 and when I left at 4:00 the kid still hadn't returned. Another player was nice enough to give me $100 from his stack and the dealer said he'd be sure the chip runner gave the chips to him instead of my seat when he got back. I can see this being a problem if an all-in situation happens and Player A didn't realize Player B had hundreds of "invisible dollars". The dealer can't be expected to announce how much money back every player has for 5,10,20 hands in a row before the runner finally returns!

Anyway, it was so nice to see the room fill up throughout the day, and that so many games were running at so many stakes levels. Seeing six tables of $5/$10 running when the most I've ever seen running at Foxwoods or Twin River was two tables was just great, and having stuff like $80/$160 stud or high stake Limit Holdem tables was nothing I'll ever partake in but great to see! And of course seeing all the PLO was great too, especially since I usually play at Twin where they'll never offer it.

My $2/$5 table was great with some people giving different action. I rollercoastered from $700 to $1300 to $500 to $1400 before lunch, then didn't realize quickly enough that when I came back after eating there were no more soft spots just good regs and I should have switched tables but didnt.

Oh, and we ate lunch at I think it was called the Garden Cafe and it was great; Great service ,good food. Two salads and two glasses of wine was ~$70, but it was all really good.

Since I live 30 minutes from Twin River I won't be going here too often, but wish I could because it's fantastic in every way. The only downside is the logistics of getting there / paying for parking. Once you're in the room, there's no better place to play.

Hopefully the high limit only is a technical issue and won't be long term.

I know we've talked about Bravo too much already, but let me just say, I hope everyone else migrates over to poker atlas. Bravo is the same crap it was like 10 years ago and it's a pain in the ass using the website on my phone, and even if the app is better, I don't really want it on my phone.
