Agreed. Possibly a side effect of their in-house accounting system, as I imagine that comps come out of the poker room receipts daily when they are used, and now there are no receipts, because there is no poker room.

They probably just don't want a run of poker only players coming in to burn off comp points then leaving without gaming.

I went over at 11:30 for the same reason to cash in some chips and took a walk around the room, sad to see it replaced with all the tables and slots. There was 1 couple playing 1 video poker machine upstairs. Also went to red card desk and asked about the comp dollars I probably got the same girl you did, she told me the same thing. They are all frozen but won't expire. I have a bunch of them and was gonna do the same thing bleed them off at the burger bar. I left after that

Somebody might want to mention to Encore that over 30 poker tables are running in southern NH at the moment.

Charlie Baker isn't going to let anything jeopardize his future political runs. Poker ain't coming back in MA for a while. Encore will be dead last.

It will be interesting to see what Encore decides to do if those BJ tables have comparable numbers to the normal poker room, with less staff running it .

Sure they want to carry more liability on the books including the accounting costs to do so. It does not pay to keep capital tied up indefinitely.

The accounting costs are negligible. It's actually a good sign that they do intend on bringing poker back. They just don't want to have a run on free rolling the casino after it's been closed for 4 months. They don't pay interest on the points.

I haven't looked, but there's probably something in the fine print about "comp points have no cash value, are non transferable, and may be revoked or voided at the discretion of Wynn/Encore.

I said nothing about bringing poker back and the implications. I never said or implied points were earning interest. But these points are a liability on the Corp balance sheet. It was a huge eye opener when airlines had to recognize all the miles that had built up. Why do think these reward programs introduced expirations and or decays?

The cost are also greater than you think. They have to maintain al the records and track the accumulation and usage. The company can certainly modify the programs going forward but they cannot unilaterally implement just any backward changes. I am not even certain the current suspension of redemption would stand up to any serious challenge. I can speak from personal experience when a casino tried to reduce a certain benefit, the floor staff thought they could do so unilaterally. One conversation and explaining it to the poker manager who discussed with others above him and the benefit was back for the rest of that programs generation. The change was implemented but not until the next generation of the program.

Has anyone had any success cashing out their front money account since Encore re-opened? I have a decent amount in there that I never got the chance to unload before they closed. Dealing with front money and incompetent cashier employees was always a horror show pre-COVID, so I can only imagine the nightmare it will be now.

I kept getting re-opening emails, which I have no interest in without poker. I decided to email them and politely told them that I will never return without poker. And complemented them on their room.

Got a reply today, thanking me and suggesting that I keep checking back for when poker returns. Who knows if it really will, but at least they didn’t slam the door on the idea.

This is the email address I used.

EBHInfo@encorebostonharbor.com

Maybe if a bunch of us tell them the same thing, it would help.

It's not currently up to them. Governor Baker said no poker until further notice.

Both the governor and MGC have to approve it. There’s also no craps or roulette.

Any trip reports to share ?

Anyone get to see the former "poker room" area ?

What's in there (the former poker room) and is it open ?

I get that, but there are two decisions needed. First it needs to be allowed again, and secondly Encore needs to decide that it wishes to restart poker. If they want to restart, maybe they make their case. If they don’t, then who care what the Governor says? My post related to the second decision.

Can anyone tell me if the electronic bubble craps games (2) are still there?
They were on the main floor on opposite sides of the bar/craps area.

If these two craps machines are gone, I have no pressing itch to go.

No poker, no table craps, ... what's next, the free drinks disappear ?

Also, can anyone tell me if the bar (The Center Bar) is open, and what the set up is?
I'm gonna guess half the bar top video machines are shut off?

Left side of the poker room is now all blackjack, although no one was there at 10:30 AM:

Right side is where they moved some of the video poker machines. The video poker that used to be outside the downstairs elevators are also now pit games of some sort.

I could also swear this sign above the escalators used to say "poker room"? Maybe not, but in any case, you can read what the little sign says:

"Explore our new gaming area upstairs. For your enjoyment, you will find additional blackjack poker and video poker machines." Share and enjoy!

Since I was feeling a bit peckish, and since the burger place was open, I also went to the Red Desk and asked if I could use my poker comps. I could not. The women behind the desk, after ducking into the backroom to find out, told me our poker comps would be saved and would be available again once the poker room reopened.

Which I guess means, optimistically, despite all the changes, that someday they do hope to reopen the poker room?

Thank goodness, I am highly incentivized to get there now.

I plan on going Sunday, super early, so as to get a seat at the bubble craps machine.

I am gonna degen it up, bigtime !!!

Theres an article on masslive today about encore bringing craps and roulette back soon. They mention constantly sanitizing dice so nobody will ever touch them after someone else has. If that is their focus than you can kiss poker goodbye in Massachusetts as long as coronavirus is around. We kinda knew that already but some of us delusional people were holding out hope.

I heard they offered to retrain poker employees, but maybe it's not feasible

The ones who received retraining have not been able to get hours working from speaking to friends.

Yeah, I consider MA poker dead. NH is thriving and CT will be back. Back to the old days.
