What about the promo money. Because they reconsider poker once a year, they are allowed to keep it ?

Does the state get to confiscate it only for it never to be heard from again? What are the options?

Does that have a noticeable impact on the amount of people who go there to play poker?

I'm not into sports betting but what I took that as was preventing collusion between a bettor and an athlete/coach/whatever.

If Robert Kraft manages to get a piece of this money, I'll be outraged !!

Not surprised, but outraged.

Kraft owns just over 5% of Draft Kings. Jerry Jones owns some too.

Posted my 1 star review on google. I urge the rest of you to do the same. It only takes 2 minutes of your time and that 2 minutes out of your life is all you really got to lose.

I sure hope they buy up some land and build a 10k space parking lot but something tells me that's not happening any time soon.

The state's two casinos — Encore Boston Harbor and MGM Springfield — resumed mostly normal operations in late May without reintroducing poker and the Gaming Commission has taken notice of the 10-fold increase in complaints about the game's absence in the Bay State. The casinos have both said they will make decisions about the future of poker by the end of the year.
sounds like we should keep at it with the complaints!

A quote from Encore mgmt; "The former poker room is now populated with some of our highest yielding slot machines"

Really ? Um, who put those machines there ?

For now, they seem to be blaming the no poker problem on a lack of dealers, but they're running dealer schools "around the clock" . Right. They laid off all the poker dealers which created the problem.

My guess is they'll bring back poker sometime next year but in a greatly reduced capacity. The state only cares about revenue and that appears to be healthy for now.

Yes the state does care about revenue mostly…but they also like to tout jobs created. Poker creates more jobs than slot machines. People should complain to the Commission about the lost jobs Encore promised, among other things.

Businesses apply for licenses and are expected to adhere to the representations made in their application. Encore isn’t. Licenses aren’t just issued and everything then ends; there are conditions that a business has to keep adhering to. There is no question that Encore like any other business feels some pressure to make the regulators feel that they are listening to them and that they are adhering to their license and conditions. Bottom line is complaining to the commission can sometimes work.

For what it’s worth, there is a huge dealer shortage right now. A lot of people got out of the industry. So, there probably are schools running and they probably would not be able to staff up appropriately in a short amount of time.

I was recently offered almost twice what I would normally make to teach a dealer class because there’s a shortage of qualified instructors too.

Wow, is it really ok for public officials to be saying things like this? If the government is in cahoots w/ the business to maximize profits, who looks out for the public good?

In a state where the President of the Senate was the brother of the main mobster 25 years ago, the answer is obvious. Nobody.

The word about massive complaints regarding no poker at both MA casinos hit the RI newscasts last night.

It also hit my Google news feed out here on the West Coast. I thought it was "interesting" to at least hear the chairperson state (loose quote) I don't want to micromanage Encore, but....Those closed tables represent a real job and a real person....
and then vowed to "somehow monitor" the situation. Empty words or a semi-real veiled threat? We'll see

Would the dealer shortage really affect Encore in any way? They claim a lack of dealers when the majority of their former dealers are either dealing in NH or sitting at home waiting for the phone to ring. Not to mention all of the MGM dealers who are available and waiting for some room to open. They are full of **** is what the bottom line is.
