Haven't heard these rumors but I'll ask someone from the Cree when I see them next. Would be a huge improvement and might actually get me to play there if they do end up moving.

Thanks, was hoping you would see my post. Appreciate you looking into it, hopefully there is some truth behind what I was told. Haven't played there in a few years due to the current location of the poker area.

I spoke to someone who plays out there sometimes and she told me that they have confirmed to her that they are moving the room, but no info on where or when.

Thanks for investigating! Is it a reasonable assumption that this means the new location will be completely off the casino floor whenever the move does occur?

We had a number of talks about moving from the poker room to the old nightclub spot years ago. It seemed ideal as it has a separate entrance for 24 hour poker, its own bar and plenty of room for tables. I haven't been there in years so I don't know what they're doing with that space now, if anything.

I would be surprised if they moved the poker tables to anywhere else on the floor, it wouldn't be worth the expense. The most likely candidate is the original poker room IMO.

I remember when you worked in the old room when I used to play there pre 2010. Anyways, as long as it is moving off the floor I am extremely excited! Thanks again for looking into it for me, all the best.

I'd quite literally come back to Edmonton and live by the mall if Cree had 24/7 poker. Moved back to Vancouver, and the one thing I appreciate about Edmonton's poker scene is that, unlike in BC, they're trying to enhance poker in the city, not kill it.

Is there anywhere in Edmonton that runs a limit game bigger than 4/8, even on an occasional basis?

No, although frankly 4/8 with a full kill can play kid of big. Especially 6 way to the river. Your best bet for mid stakes limit action would be Elbow river, downtown calgary. 20/40 LHE w/ a kill (half?) runs daily.

Yeah, because nothing screams quality of life like breathing in second hand smoke all day. A five hour session at this place and I am literally coughing **** up the next day. Though the waitresses almost make up for it...

Is there any good PLO action in Edmonton now?

Argyle has $2/$5 PLO mostly 24/7. 1 or 2 tables normally. Not unusual to see $$20K in play.

My gf claims to be able to smell the smoke on me the minute I walk in the door. Makes me shower and change clothes. Honestly, I don´t really notice. But still, it´s pretty ****ing gross in this day in age. **** you River Cree!

For anyone that has played in the WPT DeepStacks events before in Edmonton, how are the cash games at Yellowhead while the tourney runs? What is the likelihood of getting 5-10NL/5-10PLO+ on a regular basis during that week?
Edmonton Quote

The likelihood of 5/10 plo+ every day of the series is about 99.99%. During the weekdays there might only be one game so getting on the game might be difficult if you are not one of the starters. And it will usually be something like 10/25 or higher. There will almost always be at least one 5/5 plo game running alongside.

As for NLH, theres always going to be a bunch of 1/2 games and a couple 2/5 running everyday. But 5/10 and up is rare.

I'm wondering where the best NL and PLO games are in Alberta. Has anyone played out in Calgary or Edmonton?

Hello all. Just wondering about live 1-2NL games in Edmonton.

I used to go semi-regularly to Argyll and River Cree a few years ago. Thought the Fri-Sat night games were pretty soft. Lots of drunk rig pigs would show up with way more money than brains.

So just a point of curiosity: has the downturn in oil affected the games at all?

I recommend:

-1/2 @ Red Deer Cash Casino

-2/5 @ Edmonton Yellowhead Casino

Just saying Hello to the fellow local poker players.
I was actually surprised to see a Edmonton thread on here.

Looks like river cree and yellow head are the big main rooms.
I moved here from Sylvan lake in january of 2015 and have mainly played online 95% of the time. i played the odd time 1/2 in red deer.
I checked out river cree once - and i wasnt happy about the smoking atmosphere when i made my tour around the building so i just left.
Ive played twice at the Palace - but its not very good, 1 maybe 2 tables max it seems.

My plan is to hopefully get in and play Live once a week at least. Gets me away from work and out of my apartment to play some games and meet some people.

Hi Taunto_88!

The action in this thread consists of occasional bursts about a year apart. It's too bad - there used to be an active bunch here years ago.

Palace kept moving and cutting down their poker area, but when I have played there recently the games were very good. I hope they still have poker after the renovation/rebranding.

Welcome to the 'hood,

Any limit poker these days? Going to be visiting soon, I used to like playing at Palace and Baccarat, but I'm not sure those still exist.

Century is the limit hotspot AFAIK, call you should be able to find 3/6 and or 4/8, dealers choice and holdem. Palace was also sometimes spreading like 3/6 or something as of a year and a half or two years ago.
