I will be heading down from New York on one of the many cheap buses that run from port authority. I plan on staying with someone on AirBnB as the rates on there are much cheaper than any hotels I have looked at. I plan on playing 1-2/1-3/2-3 NL for long hours while I am there. I will not have a car so transportation is a minor concern, I don't want to be too far from the card rooms (though they all look close and public trans seems decent).
So anyways I am just asking for any input at all since I have never been there, which room has the best comps/action/fish, whats a good neighborhood to stay in while I am there, things I should definitely check out while in the city, etc. Thanks!
Parx is the area's big room (ala Foxwoods/Borgata) so you may feel more comfortable there. All the rooms will spread $1/2 and $1/3.
Harrah's in Chester has better comps that can be used at all CET properties.
Sugarhouse is probably the best place if you are relying on public transportation because it's in the city but all of them have direct SEPTA lines that go there.
In Parx you pay for booze, in Sugarhouse it's free. At Harrah's you get free drinks at $1/3 and above.
There's tons of touristy **** in Philly depending on what you're into. I do suggest you try a few different cheesesteaks while you're here - I'm a Jim's Steaks guy (preferably the South Street location) but people will argue their own personal faves. And there's the whole birthplace of the nation deal if that moves you.
Most of all have fun. This city is far from perfect but it's pretty cheap compared to cities it's size, you have a ton of poker and there's no shortage of fish at the tables.
