Since we already have a non no limit holdem specific thread for Eastern PA, I feel we need a general poker thread that covers everything from live game reports, upgrades, rumors, rule changes, tournaments, where to find specific stakes and what days etc.

This rooms in our area are:
Mount Airy (Mount Pocono, PA)
Sands (Bethlehem, PA)
Mohegan Sun Pocono Downs (Wilkes Barre, PA)
Hollywood Casino (Grantville, PA)
Parx (Bensalem, PA)
Harrah's Chester (Chester, PA)

Live Game Reports:
Parx

Any word on when "soon" might be?

The poker room was supposed to expand at the end of August. Has that started?

The expansion at Sands has not started yet - when the big Black Jack machines get moved you know it has started.

I would guess soon means within the next 6 months to a year.

Hey getting kicked out of AC. I need to know where the best place in PA is to play poker. I dont care about what games I just need to know what place is the busiest at any time.

Parx is the busiest. They already have 28 tables going right now.

The hurricane will have min. Impact at Mohegan Sun @ Pocono Downs.

The Parx and the Sands is the busiest but there could be impact at these locations esp. The Parx.

How much are they currently charging for rooms?

I think it's going to be an epic weekend for all of the PA cardrooms.

With Mohegan Sun @ Pocono Downs having their end of the Month $280 @Noon I'm fairly certain it will sellout so if you are planing on playing arrive early tomorrow.

I just got home from Mount Airy. All 11 tables filled mostly 1/2, a couple 2/4 and a 2/5 game. With wait lists of 20+ around midnight, the hurricane definitely brought in a lot more players tonight and I'd assume even more tomorrow.

I like Parx's Live Game Report, I wish the other rooms follow and do an online report too.

There's some talk in the other PA threads on what the min/max bi should be for 1/2 2-5 PLO should be. I only know MS@PD's is 200/800 for 2/5 PLO but it might be 300/800.

What's the best BI structure to create PLO action?

I think it's different everywhere being that it's not a very commonly spread game. What I would like is 1/2 $200-$500 adn 2/5 $300-$1000

1/2 PLO at Harrahs Chester has a minimum buy in of $60. I would hope a lower buy in would keep a table running longer and invite more novice players.

What are the Tournaments like at Parx? Blind Structure & Player Quality?

How tough are the Limit & no limit cash games?

Greetings grinders, are there any players in the Lehigh Valley/Pocono area willing to give a ride to a fellow ginder to the Sands Bethlehem? I live right off highway 33, so a player coming down from the Poconos using 33 would be ideal. We can talk about gas money and days to the casino if you get back to me. Look forward to hearing from some Rounders.

So on top of the valley forge planned casino now they are looking at opening a fifth either in West Philly or on City Avenue. While this is good news for the city from a revenue standpoint, it has to be bad if these casinos follow sugar house and open up poker rooms. I feel like this is just gonna dilute the player pool further especially in games like 10/10 and PLO or the mixed games where it will become harder for those games to get going in full force because players are so spread out. Obviously the rooms will be soft when they first open but long term I don't know how many rooms Philly can support. For 1/2 and 2/5 players this shouldn't be a problem though.

The player pools for all big/unique games will come together under one roof, like they have at Borgata in AC, or Ameristar in BlackHawk (Denver outskirts), Commerce in LA, etc. It'll be a battle, that Parx is winning, over who controls the majority of this action. Other rooms will have a unique game here or there. Your 1/2, 2/5, low-limit HE fare will be common everywhere.

The casino in valley forge isn't gonna have poker for a good while, at least a year or two.

but spreading out players is always a bad thing. Comps, games, action, it's all down hill. People being able to stop by after work is not as good as 3 buddies getting in a car for a late night trip to AC 1x2 times a month.

The Blind structure is pretty fast at the Parx. I played this week on tuesday and thursday and they had 193 runners tuesday and 134 runners on thursday. I was surprised that there were a few players that really seemed to know what they were doing. I wish peeps would shut up about strategy but this happens everywhere. It is pretty much a turbo but what do you expect out of a daily? Abt 4-5k for 1st.

The cash games are really soft but this is based on playing only like 3 or 4 different tables.

I'll be back next week!

0-2 at the Parx tournaments so far, hopefully, I can change this next week as I should be able to make it down for another shot or 2.

Parx is pretty awesome overall.

They have those Tue/Thur. 120's that get a lot of players.

They also have a Wed. morning 120 & Saturday 230. Not sure about the # of players for those, but I'll be checking the Wed morning tournament out this week.
