I'm in Dublin for the semester and wondering if anybody has any insight into which poker rooms to check out.

I played a 10+10+10 (+3) Euro tournament at Voodoo last night and enjoyed it (placed 5/43, too), but I don't know if I want to play a 33 Euro tournament every week until 2 AM on a Monday night/Tuesday morning.

It's not hard to find info about the weekly tournaments in the city, but who has the best cash games in terms of rake, players, and variety? My budget for poker is pretty limited, so I'm bound to low stakes affairs. Does any club regularly spread stud? It seems like 1/1/(5) PLO runs fairly often at Voodoo, as does 1/1/(3) PLHE. Rake is 5% capped at 10 Euros. Anybody have info on cash games at other clubs?

I don't play cash so am not upto date on that end of it.As for card rooms in general there are a good few dotted around Dublin but the main one and best one IMO is the fitzwilliam card club ,the fitz always has a good crowed in for both cash and MTTs.

I have only been in the Voodoo twice, while its a nice venue the buy ins are a bit small for my liking.

You should also checkout Boards.ie,its the biggest message board in Ireland and is a great resource. The poker section is a great resource for local players.

sadly all the mtts i ever played seem to go on late enough. you need to start calling those 3bets with A6s etc if you need to be in bed earlier. other than that it aint no problem to have

bump..

I'm in Ireland for a couple weeks and looking for a cash holdem NL game. I would prefer to play 1/2, 1/3, or 2/5. I went to fitzgerald tonight and they had no tables running and it seems like Pot Limit is the only game played...

I asked someone about voodoo and they thought it would be unlikely that they would have a NL game running.

Is there not one NL cash game in Dublin?

Hello. My friend and I are thinking of heading down south for the first time to play some poker (legally) live. We have little to no experience of Dublin its self and lack any knowledge of which casinos to visit.

We are looking to travel down by bus/train and stay for as long as possible (24 hours) as we don't want to spend to much money on anything other than poker (if possible).

So I am posting in hope that some one could spread some knowledge on casinos to visit, areas to avoid and places to stay (last resort).

Also, This is probably an extremely silly question but are the ATMs the same down south.

If you currently live in Dublin and would kindly want to meet up, I am sure we could arrange something..

Thanks for reading!

You should go to The Fitzwilliam Casino & Card Club, very nice staff and you can take free drinks and sandwiches. The games are 1/2 holdem and 1/2 PLO. They also have a daily tournament (check they site) - they offer some kind of food if you play the daily tournament. The club is open 24/24 but they close the cash tables at something like 8 AM if there is still people playing. The games stars at something like 5 or 6 PM. If I was you I would go do Dublin Friday and stay one "night", playing Friday and Saturday going back Sunday after leaving the cardroom. You should definitively call the club to be sure everything I said is right because I m not from Ireland and the last time I was there was some months ago, but I have tried other cardrooms in Dublin and the Fitz is one step ahead of the others.

Starting a thread to discuss all that's happening on the Irish Poker scene. I searched around and couldn't find an existing thread.

Anyone heading to the Burlington in Dublin this weekend? The Irish Winter Festival of Poker is taking place from Oct 26th - Oct 29th.

I won't be playing but I'll travel up on Sunday to meet a couple of the lads. If your heading up give me a shout @theroyalraiser.

I was in dublin in early July, and the Fitz is the go-to place.

It had 1-2NL uncapped where most players had 100 euros, and a 2-4(2-5? forget sorry) PLO started just as I left.

It was just south east of city center, within a 15min walk from my hostel in city center.

I'll be in Dublin first part of May and plan on stopping in The Fitzwilliam at least once. Maybe I am just tired, but can someone help me understand that rake structure, particularly the bolded?

Quote:
Cash Game Charges from 1st May 2014

€1/€2 cash game – raked at €9.00 per person per hour.
€2/€5 and above cash games – raked at €13.33 per person per hour.
The Club collects €1 from each pot over €20 in our cash games. 100% of this money goes towards our Cash League Final.
So for 2/5 it'd be 13.33/hr + $1/pot for Cash League Final (What is the Cash League Final, is that a jackpot drawing?)

Edit:

Nevermind, Answered my own question. Pretty unique way of attracting reg's imo. I wish more places had this kind of promotion than a high-hand jackpot that is unfairly weighted in favor of the smallest limit games in the room.

The Fitzwilliam is the home of high value poker cash action in Ireland and we have a great cash league final tournament running every two months, throughout 2015. You just need a minimum of 40 hours of cash game play to qualify for the Cash League finals in the preceeding 2 months, and the dates for your diary for 2015 are:

Saturday February 21st
Saturday April 11th
Saturday June 13th
Saturday August 15th
Saturday October 10th
Saturday December 12th
Saturday February 13th (2016)
ESTIMATED PRIZE POOL EVERY 2 MONTHS OF €40,000!

This tournament takes place once every two months. Entry is restricted to customers who have played 40 hours or more in our cash games in the preceding two months.

Top 7 Cash Back
1st place (most cash hours) – 1.5% of the prize pool
2nd place – 1.0% of the prize pool
3rd – 7th place – 0.5% of the prize pool.
Players receive 100 starting chips for each hour they have played. The prizepool increases daily. The current prizepool is available on the information screen at Reception.

Players can view their hours via the barcode scanner and touch screen at the Poker Desk.

The following conditions apply to the Cash League Final:

The tournament will be No Limit Texas Hold’em.To qualify, you must have played a minimum of 40 hours in the two month period.
The league final starting stack is 100 in chips for every hour played, or part thereof.
Players should note there is an automated process upon signing into the club for recording each players hours of play.
It is the responsibility of each player to notify the poker desk when they are finished, as failure to do so will result in your hours not being recorded.
Management reserved the right to change the conditions of play before or during the event, and any updates will be reflected here on this website.

I'm considering spending a day in Dublin en route to Las Vegas later in the year.
Are there any casinos where I could find poker in the afternoon? The Fitzwilliam website says games start at 6:30?

earliest games you would find, would be 6:30
even then, most casinos wouldn't have cash rolling until about 9pm
best place for cash action during the day would be to find MTT events which are pretty regular around Dublin. These events tend to have action all day, especially on the first day of the MTT, when there are more players at the event.
Events are mostly held in large hotels around Dublin.
I'm not sure if we're allowed to post links to external poker forums, but I can certainly PM you an Irish poker forum where you could find any upcoming events.
