The room does NOT really boom when NASCAR runs. I expected some drunk Nascar fan action but it did not materialize. Still pretty soft on the weekends.

Also a very nice hotel but it will be booked solid if there is a race. Weekday room comps available with minimal table play.

Also mapquest/google maps is your friend. Dover Downs to Del Park just over 15 miles, 26 minutes estimated drive time.
Peace,

AW

I may be in the area this Thursday night and plan to stop by. Are there games going on a weeknight? All 1-2? Good places to eat?

Congrats to Dover Downs on running a great event this past Saturday.

They're $400+$50 'Delaware Poker Championship' buy-in got 185 entrants. That drove the $50k prize pool guarantee up to a prize pool of $74k. They paid out to 20th and the winner earned $22k and change.

Between the tourny and cash games, there was a stretch during which every table in the room was full. They used two overflow tables in a separate room at the start of the tourny.

Thanks and great job to the staff from this Dover Downs reg.

I have to agree. It was only my second time at DD but they ran a great tournament. It started on time and ran like clockwork. They had free food and everybody received a cool card protector. I liked the non traditional trophy too. It was made in the shape of the state...a neat idea for a state championship. The dealers were pretty good and I did not witness any mistakes.
Food wasn't bad either. I ordered from one of their restaurants and the food was dilivered right to the poker table. It was yummy.
I didn't finish in the money But won my entry back in the cash games that were loose and predictable.
I had forgotten how beautiful the property is. The hotel is first class. I had a great time and will probably return for the tournament with a twenty five thousand dollar guarantee on October 12th. It is 2 hour ride for me but it was worth it.

Does anyone know if there a guy named Joe working as a supervisor/dealer at DD? Older guy, originally from CA, worked in FL for awhile. Old friend of mine who I lost touch with.

I love this room and the delware state championship made me enjoy it a whole lot more! i didnt cash in the tourney but i had a great time and it was so well run. the staff is super friendly and the action on the tables is great. I usually play 1-2 when i go there (im there once a week at least) but i tried out the 2-5 game two weekends ago and it was a juicy game. Money is being thrown around lots of action pre flop and post flop. Very winnable game. I will contiune to come to dover downs and might start being a regular in the 2-5 game

Can anyone confirm that the $25K $300 buy in tournament took place on Jan 25th? How about the invitational 6-max game that was supposed to take place yesterday? Any updates would be appreciated!

I'm going to be at the DE beach next weekend. We're talking about coming up Friday night for cards. Any chances of an Omaha game going? Or what usually spreads here on weekends?

What exactly would you be most interested in playing?

Typically on a Friday, Omaha is 40/60 against going because the $2/5 NL Hold'em and the $1/2 Omaha game are often competing for some of the same players... and a few of them play the 7pm tourney as well. That said, it takes very little to sway things toward it going. And when it goes, it usually lasts.

I'm flexible. But my group would only play a low level game.

We may hit DE Park tomorrow instead. Depends on the weather and what time I can get out of here in the morning.

Dover Downs had a $1/2 PLO game going tonight. They were alternating Hi and Hi/Lo every orbit.

No love for this room? I only play tournaments and I find it's nice to go here for the calmer atmosphere, lower buy ins and good staff. It's also quietly tucked away from the rest of the casino. It's only an hour from the DE beaches so I'll prob find myself up there for the one o'clock tournament on Saturday. Also want to learn more about the Sunday "Player of the Year" satellite and the Hard Rock Punta Cana satellite the 2nd to last Sunday in June. This place should really get more love.

Somewhere around 40-45 buy ins on Saturday for the 1:15 $65 dollar tournament. First was around $1100. I keep hoping people will update like this more often on other threads so we can get an idea as to what to expect at certain venues.

Odds that this place runs 2/5nl tonight? If they had Bravo software, i wouldn't have to waste anyone's time with this question.
