Does anyone know if the casino offers boxes?

Are there any local hotel deals on the weekend? I've been making the drive down from Mankato on the weekends, but hate the late night/early morning drive home.

No not really. The two hotels (one attached, one across the street) are both insanely priced with no poker rate.

If you don't mind driving to Northwood (7miles) you can get a pretty cheap room at a not so great strip motel. Not sure how much but likely in the $40/night range. Albert Lea will have a lot more choices and is only 15 min. away.

Every time I have tried going to the hotel in Northwood they have been full, albeit only 2-3 times, YMMV. I think they have a lot of people staying there long term or something.

I've gone the Albert Lea route once so far. Stayed at the Best Value Inn for around $65 a night. A decent deal, but not great. Really wish there was a poker room rate with the two hotels right outside the casino.

I'm planning on coming down Friday night and staying for the 6 game mixed tournament on Saturday.

It will actually be the last Saturday in October. The 27th at 12pm and it'll be the Iron Man NLHE tournament. $150 buy in + $10 for T50,000.

Bravo Live is now up and running at Diamond Jo. Get the Bravo Live app on your smart phone to see what games are currently open and how many players are on the waiting list in real time as well as tourney info and other general info about poker rooms near you. Must have app for poker players.

I've used casino discount rates before at both Country Inn and Holiday Inn Express - otherwise there is another motel in Northwood itself, a few miles east of I-35. I've had reasonable luck with lodging in the Mason City/Clear Lake area, but that's 20 miles further.

Rooms at both at Exit 214 are very nice. The number for Country Inn is 641-323-7000 and Holiday Inn Express is 641-323-7500.

Just want to confirm Bravo app is working properly... is there really no game right now?

Working correctly. game went bust. was an odd day. You can always call the room to double check. If the floor forgets to check a dealer into a game it won't show up on the Bravo Live App so there is always a chance that there is more games going than what it shows, but usually the floors get that right.

Just wanted to post in support of raising max buyin to 75% of big stack. This would make the game so so much better.

Also, I am hoping to be able to play right at noon quite a bit more soon. How do I get on the list before the game starts if nobody is manning the poker room yet?

Stop by the blackjack pit and ask a supervisor to put you on the poker list. They start the list for us every day.

No call-ins before we open. Just have to sign up in person.

This rule appeals to a particular type of player. You are in that category. I think you know what I mean. When I was discussing it with the manager I actually brought your name up when I said who will benefit from it. Unfortunately the ones that won't benefit from it vastly outnumber the ones that will.

Might try it on a weekend with one or two tables and leave the rest at the standard and see who wants what. Its just an idea at this point.

Cool thanks for the feedback.

I would explain how it's actually a huge advantage to the people that want to play short for other players to be deep, but I'm sure you understand and they probably never will.

Room opens at 11am on Friday and generally there is a 1/2NL game right away. Sign up for the game in the blackjack pit is available before 11am. Average of 4 games going by evening and a 1/2NL game will go through most of the night if not all night.

How many players have been playing in the Tuesday Ante Only tournament?

What is the cost of the tournament? What time does it start?

I tried to find that information on the Diamond Jo website but that appears to be down.

Website is getting updated and moved ATM. Tuesday has been getting ~20 players. It is $60 buy in with an optional $5 staff bonus for extra chips. Starts at 7pm.

All of our tourneys are listed on the BravoLive App if you have a smartphone.
