Did anyone make it down to DJ's this past weekend? The 2/5 game was super juicy and the BBJ was finally hit.

I was actually there last night for the second time. The 1/2 table was really soft, and had people straddling and raising like 30+ out of the straddle. Ended up being a good night other then the country music playing there.

Edit:Also the floor seemed decent this time around, and the dealers seemed a bit better then I was lead to believe. I should also mention there was about three 1/2$ NL tables going and one 2/5$ NL. I also saw they had players cards this time around and heard that in the near future they will be offering rakeback through the cards.

Depends on what you want to play. If you want to play 2/5 only guaranteed night is Friday. Lately Sat. nights have been just 2-3 200nl games.

How many 1-2 nl tables are open on an average Saturday night?

2-3 200nl???? Does it play any different than 1-2 200 nl?

I think he means 2 or 3 of the 1/2 games.

If that's the case then it's a flip to go to turtle lake or DJs on saturday.

Finally made it down there for the first time this Saturday. Played a three-hour session of 1/2, broke for dinner, and then played another 2 hours at a different table. 2/5 never got going, at most 5 people on the list while five tables of 1/2 were running.

Granted that it's a small sample size but FWIW I saw a lot of terribad play. Three different people limped PF with AA. Lots of 6- and 7-player limped pots. When there were raises, lots of calling raises, very little three-betting. I'm a mediocre NLHE player at best but saw only one player who was clearly better than me. Three or four of about the same mediocre caliber. All the rest were fish.

Its been about a half of a year since I have been there. But I clearly remember being annoyed that they would not combine 2 tables because of 1 extra player that would have to sit out. A player I might add that came way later then others they didn't seem to want to give priority to the players that had been there longer, thus we ended up sitting out for a good half an hour because no one wanted to play 5 hand poker.

I was hoping that things may have picked up a bit, as I do love to play live poker and MN has ****** limit and lame spread. Is the BBJ getting big, or has it been hit lately?

What is the action like on weekdays and weekday nights at DJ's? I live in Rochester and frequent TI, but I am going to consider DJ's since I have heard that the money is so stupid easy.

You know what else is stupid? The Floor. Each time I go there, they seem to get more stupid, learn how to treat the customer, you need to kick some1 to the side and combine tables ****erheads.

That's funny. I'm at DJ's right now. When I got here it was a pain in the ass to get seated, the pit boss snapped at me when I he called my name and I announced that I was in front of him. Pffftttt.... At least it's near by live NL

At the Diamond Jo today. They now have a button straddle to go with the UTG straddle. The bad beat is over $68,000 also.

Nice. They are also going to start letting players run it twice. $2 a card. $1 to the house and $1 to the dealer. Better than nothing I guess.
The only problem I really have with DJ's is that I run so so so bad there. So bad...

The PLO tournament hasn't gone for 3 weeks. Diamond Jo is going to start a $35 NL tournament at 3pm on Sundays with a single re-buy for $20. Saturdays will be a shoot-out tournament at 3pm

standard almost everywhere. TL playing with yellow ($2 chips) is an exception.

CA also uses yellow chips for no limit games, but red in rest of country = yellow in CA
(CA $5 chips are yellow)

I guess they got some new tourneys now... $100 no limit tourney 1st saturday of every month and a bad beat tourney on tues and thurs and the house is funding the bad beat for the tourneys. Something like $100 per tourney i think they are adding to the pot until it goes out. That could be good if it gets up there. Bad Beat is $72k and still AAA1010 beat by AAAJJ or better and i think they rarely get limit games there and thats why it never hits. I mostly play at DJ cuz its close for me and i cant stand LIMIT!! The action is usually pretty good. They usually have at least 2 tables depending on the day and you can change tables if you get bored at one. The 1/2NL buy in is $40-$200. I heard they may jack up the 2/5NL cap to $1,000 but its still only $500 for now and the new staddle on the button seems to create a lot of action. Lot of donkeys limping all the way around so the button can buy the $40 pot with a $20 raise It is absolutely a soft game there. Like my secret honey hole... why am i telling you?

With that 2 times or 3 times Straddle on the button is has create more action at the tables. Last Saturday they had 3 tournament tables (Shootout Tournament) going and 4 cash games of the 1-2NL at 4pm.

Is it a true Mississippi straddle or some odd DJ-specific straddle?
Diamond Jo Casino (Northwood, IA) Quote

DJ specific. You can straddle the button. Action starts with the UTG and goes around and if there is no raise the button acts last. If there is a raise the button acts in turn. If the UTG wants to straddle then the button can't.
