Yea, it's a shame that there aren't any other card rooms downtown.

It'll be interesting to see if this increases traffic at MGM and GT.

I've got an event in Royal Oak on Saturday, and was planning on running up to Snookers to finally check the place out (long drive from AA) ... any suggestions for a good room to hit instead?

I mean, I can't recommend Sunnybrook since I haven't been there in a while, your other choices are Big Beaver Tavern in Troy and The River in Utica, and of the two I prefer BBT but others would say The River is more professional.

Is refreshing to hear a dealer say," I'm going to go slow. My day's almost over." I can finally catch a nap in between hands

macau poker scene is blowing up cause pokerstars has a live venue over there spreading the word about how FUN poker is. nj is gonna have a live franchise too, soon. I'm sure michigan is on the list of states pokerstars can buy their way into. greektown has been bleeding money for years, I'm sure isai could find a good deal in setting up shop around detroit and lobbying for intrastate online poker in another state w ~10m americans.

win/win/win if we get a pokerstars live room and a lobbyist/provider of ipoker in mich.

it could happen.

RIP Snookers... I highly doubt Snookers or Cada's will ever get the chance to open back up.

I'm playing the RxR tourney at BBT. There's a wait list for cash tables and not enough dealers.

Pokerstars buying Greektown is the only way that I will lift my lifelong self-ban from there.

Guess Snookers closing is having an impact after all. Wonder if the casinos downtown are feeling it too.

Not a noticeable difference at motor. I called ahead and checked in roughly an hour after and only waited 15 minutes or so for a seat. This was at 8:00 or so. I feel like the only way it may affect me is if the Snookers 2/5 players start coming to motor and there is a demand to open more 2/5 tables taking away from 1/2.

Did the MCC quads over quads get hit since the end of november? I assume something would be said in here if it was but I'm just curious. It was like 330k then and I assume if it was still growing there'd be talk in here

I'm really starting hate the bad beat. We had a full table and no list tonight, and all but one guy wanted to switch to Omaha, which is such a better game, especially with hold'em players. His reason? The bad beat. Why does it have such a power over people's thinking? It's 350k for a reason. IT'S FRIGGIN HARD TO HIT ARRRGGGG!

It may take a few days to trickle out to the other rooms. It'll also be harder to see at MCC since they're pretty busy most of the time anyway.

Anyone know what it takes to become a dealer at a charity?

Learn how to deal then apply. They usually have some kind of hands on test to prove you know how to deal.

You can also go to a training school like http://www.ideal21.com/poker_dealer_course.html. I thought there was one in Novi/Livonia area but I don't remember the name. The one in Livonia was about $850 per course (i.e. Poker was 1 course, BJ was another) when I checked into it earlier this year.

The charities still keep track of the rake themselves so I don't know what you mean.

If you know of a way for a room to skim money from the charities, you should let the MGCB know. When the charity controls, the chips and the money, it's just not possible. They wouldn't write a check back to a room for more than half the money they make.

Lol caveman!
I didn't think of that. So there is probably a paper trail of rule-breaking for every charity that oversold chips?

Dealers aren't allowed to touch the chips except during a hand. A charity worker comes by periodically to collect the rake.
