1. Me. I wish more often we couldn't see whole cards. I enjoy trying to work through the hand. I understand that's not for everyone, but to me, watching PF all-ins in shallow tournaments (Main Event excluded) just doesn't do it anymore.

So, you consider poker to be a spectator sport? Interesting... I love playing the game but do not enjoy watching. Seems boring to me but I understand alot of people enjoy it.

I'm with ya. However, in reality, TV poker is what keeps the fish swimming in. To the everyday man and women, poker is boring. So, in order to keep their interest we need to focus on keeping them happy. I would much rather be at a table full of ESPN fans than poker enthusiast. Why not? I don't make money playing better players and pushing the limits all the time. I make most of it because Johnny nobody just sat down and spewed a cool 3 buy ins across the table because his favorite poker player did something similar on television last night. Don't ever bite the hand that feeds you!!!!!!

I don't want it to be a spectator sport but it has to be. Read above post. You said it yourself that poker is boring. So how else are we going to appeal to the masses and keep the live ones coming in? Although I believe poker is a game of skill more than a game of chance, its not a view that the general public believes in. So we have to cater a certain portion of the game to them and not to people like you and I.

Imo, a fish sitting at home is not analyzing the hand like you are describing. They are prob just trying to understand what hand beats what, and why Phil Ivey always wins.

In regards to strategy and breaking things down, I personally would rather watch a chess match between 2 highly skilled players than watch a poker match between 2 highly skilled players.

Please do not take this as an arguement... I am really curious on why someone who understands the game already would want to watch 15 hours of a FT.

I'm happy to respond...

1. You missed the boat completely regarding my post. Your confusing two different things. I was obviously describing myself when I was talking about enjoying the FT without seeing the cards. I was describing the general population's interest when I said that we have to cater to them. At no point did I describe a situation where your everyday person is going to sit around for 15 hours and analyze a game of poker. However, I would certainly like to do so.

2. In response to your question- Yes I do understand the game of poker. But don't assume that I just watch 15 hours of straight footage. Under normal circumstances I like to watch it while I'm at my desk working on something completely unrelated. I also just like to think about the game. I am fan, and if your not than why do you post on a regular basis in a poker forum? Its fun and that's really the only explanation I can give as to why I watch it. It's not like I'm sitting here dressed in all poker apparel and sunglasses waiting for someone to say my seat is ready.

I post on here because:

1. I like poker. All types of poker. (Not sure where you got the idea that I did not like the game but I do.)

2. My friends post on here

3. Its fun

4. 99% of my posts have nothing to do with poker

5. There is more topics and places on 2p2 to talk than just strat forums

6. It has become a normal part of my day to open up 2p2 and catch up on things

7. It is more of a community in my eyes.... and there are some really good people who post on here, esp in the Detroit thread.

8. ATF is funny as hell sometimes.

9. Musicians forum is fun and I like to talk about music

10. OOT is a great place to hang out and shoot the ****

11. I have learned alot about poker by just lurking the strat forums..even tho I do not post in them

12. I like being able to sit at home and communicate with others online. I enjoy some of the conversations that come up... including this one.

13. I am sure there are more reasons than that but that is all I can think of right now.

Oh, and by the way... welcome to the thread

Edit: I think that poker is what brings almost everybody to this site. Yet it is the people that post here that keep every here. If you look at posters that have been here longer than 4 years or have 10k plus posts, you will realise that they talk about everything here. It is not just a forum about poker, its about anything you want it to be.

I enjoyed it too but I'm not arecreational player. when somebody takes a minute and a half for a routine fold that's just too long. Whoever finished in third was the worst. He slowed the entire table down. There will be a shot clock eventually or something like it I'm sure

Thanks, I've been lurking on here for awhile now. I enjoy the community as well, and being that I'm a metro Detroit-er myself, it only seems natural that I ended up here. I play mostly at MCC and I'd love to hear what people think about it. But for the love of God dont talk about the BB. I could care less. I was there today so I've heard all I can for today.

Ugh heads up On Merge. 2.5 to 1 chip lead and we are both deep. Good luck to me lol

We took it down. Got unlucky with the chip lead with Tens. I three bet and he 4 bet jammed w A7 Rivers the ace of course. knocked him back down and he ended up chipping up. Luckly i checked the flop w JT6dd board w J7o turn was another 6 he bet the turn i called and he bet River. i knew i was beat there too, had a good read on his bet sizing. J7<JT.
Ended up making a sweet bluff w King high. Then hit my gut shot on the Turn after i had 3 bet him on the flop 7h4hjx5h w 68, he had AJ and couldn't fold. it isn't much but it is better then the downswing i had previously.

Anyone know what is going on at Snookers tomorrow?

Word of advice, broaden your games. I've been playing Omaha/8B for years and it's finally picking in popularity.

You must realize that this shooter never shoots straight. Networth was the big winner at the 8-game last weekend.

Btw for some reason there are tons of O8 players in this area!

Played at NVD last night for a few hours. Very friendly table with some really bad play. Lots of limp/3bets from MP and later with crap hands. I just had crappy hands every time they did it to me.

The new closed in room is really no different than before, you just have to walk farther to smoke.

The tournament was still going at 12:30 when I left. I should have checked out the structure. Next Saturday they are running a $65 PLO re-buy tournament at 2pm (I think. Call them to confirm)

We played with 'The Rock'. The plan was to start with $8 rapped up in a rubber band and add a $1 every half hour. If you were in possession of the rock in a straddle position you had to straddle. Too bad there was 1 person not agreeing to it so as soon as she had it and broke the rock, the game broke up. Oh well.

Pro Tip: Don't 4 bet shove JJ into KK. Bad things will usually happen if you do.

PROP BETS. Lets talk more about them for the 8 game.

Here is my proposal for the game:

NLHE, LHE:
1. 7 2 for $10 each
2. Pick a Card for the flop. (If your card comes up in the middle of the flop, it's $10 per person. $5 if its on one of the ends.)

LO8, PLO:
1. Trips and quads. $10/$25
2. Pick a Card for the flop. (same as above)

Stud/Stud8/Razz:
1. Pick a card for the door. $5 per person is it's anyone's door card, $10 if your card is your door card.

2-7TD:
1. Dealt 5 cards 10 or better. $10 per person

All pick a card games are rank and suit.

I need to go back and read the other posts about prop bets but this is a start. Any comments, suggestions, add-ons?

Before the casinos opened most of the underground games were round by round
