Ive been to MCC and I havent seen a limit game run lately. I may not be looking hard enough, or just have my headphones when they announce it, but I have not heard of it for a little while. Ive been on the 10/20 and 20/40 lhe waitlists, but not the 15RxR one, as I do not like playing lo live. They had a 50/100 list a few days ago and I recognized 2 or the 3 names on it, but it never went off either.
As for limit, I know Greektown has their 3/6 that runs about 18 hours a day, 10a-4a? or so. They have their 5/10lo game on Saturdays, usually starts around noon. They have their 1/2 200 max game. They do not spread a 2/5 game regularly as far as I know. They have a 5/10 plo game that runs on Thursday and Saturdays? or something like that. It is the worst plo game I have ever played in in my life. It plays like a much higher game. Average buy in is over 2.5k.
MGM spreads a 2/5 game. its a 200 to 500 game. Plays relatively big on the weekends. Best to get into it early or go to MCC and play there. Their 1/2 game is 50-300.

In my sporadic experience any non-low-limit Omaha game there is Omaha high only and part of a mix with Hold em. The players plus the dealers make the game brutally slow; the mix I played once routinely took an entire dealer down to finish an orbit of Omaha.

EDIT: And I've never seen any limit games there bigger than red chip.

Errrr, maybe you're thinking of the Bellagio 30-60 game with a 1/3 kill Greektown runs 5/10 limit O8 with a full kill on Tuesday and Saturday afternoons. There are 1/2 PLO8 games that run at Big Beaver Tavern some days, and we have a weekly 1/2 PLO8 game that runs at the River on Wednesdays.

To answer your question though, I still say the game with the highest limits you'll find in a sanctioned card room is the $5/$10 PLO game that runs at Greektown. It's not uncommon to see nearly $100,000 on that table.

Is anyone playing the $125 Heads-up tourney at Northville this weekend?

I think the structure should leave room for a decent amount of play, especially by charity standards. From their e-mail:

LEVEL SMALL BLIND BIG BLIND
1 25 50
2 50 100
3 100 200
4 200 400
5 400 800
6 600 1,200
7 800 1,600
8 1,000 2,000

The first four rounds begin with 5,000 in tournament chips, final round begins with 10,000. All levels will last 15 minutes. Round one will be run in two flights. The Tournament Director reserves the right to suspend or remove blind levels in the interest of time management. The maximum amount allowed (80% of buy-in's) will go into the prize pool

Payout schedule based on 64 players
1st Place $3,000
2nd Place $1,500
Players that advance to the 4th round are guaranteed $650
Players that advance to the 3rd round are guaranteed $150

I think they worded the prizes wrong. You would have to advance past the 4th round, to the semifinals to be guaranteed $650, and past the 3rd round, to the quarterfinals to be guaranteed $150.

I was thinking about playing in it, but trying to figure out weekend schedule still. Any idea how many have pre-registered?

It's full, and if you are pre-registered you need to pay on Thursday. They have a list of alternates they are pulling from, beginning on Friday.

One other thing to decide: Antes and bring-ins for stud games. $1 would be a high (but convenient) ante. 50c would probably be much better but inconvenient. (75c would probably be perfect for an aggro game but really unworkable.)

Odd and even seats alternate anteing a dollar? Honor system to keep you from sitting out your "ante" hands and only taking your "non-ante" hands?

Or easier to bring chips in from a home game to represent half-dollars?

FWIW back when soaring eagle had a regular 3-6 stud game they had a 50 cent ante and $1 bring in

Did they use US half-dollar coins or produce their own chips?

They had half dollars. They actually would use them in the hold em games too. Pretty sure the dealers didn't like it because most people would only give them a 50 cent tip. It was standard for someone to throw a dealer a dollar and say "chop it," meaning take 50 cents and give me 50 cents back.

Hi just interested when another tourney of this size would go off @ northville? What kind of dailies do you run there?

I mainly play at MCC so a lot of these tourneys that I might like to play in/hear about at the charities seem to pass me by...

Right now I just know of the $100 at Snookers thats now running every Sunday, that seems OK, other than that i'd like to keep note of when these $75-$200++ tourneys go off in the area.

Anyone have some I can look out for?

And is there any reason why Detroit casinos are so adverse to running a tournament series? Indiana gets their fair share yet Detroit area rooms seem to have a larger player base from what I could tell visiting Hollywood and Horseshoe(southern).

Northville has a $150(?) tournament every sunday usually, when they don't have these WSOP qualfiers going on or heads up tournament. As with all charity casinos they take 20% of the prize pool. However, you can register a few days early for the tournament and you get something like $20-$30 off the buy in so it basically gets rid of the 20% they are taking. <----All these details on their website I'm just too lazy to look it up right now.

So is MCC the consensus best poker casino in Michigan?

The only thing keeping MCC from poker perfection is the noise from the slot pit right next door (but it probably bugs me more than others)
