what are the odds that you are going to get +3k back from him? i don't think they are close to high enough to not felt him right there.

Agree with, Roma. Eliminations increase your tournament equity way more than any amount of chips you might, might, get later from that player.

If he is bad maybe he doubles up 40% of the time. Of those times, you can be the one to stack him maybe 20% of the time (probably much less tho). So that's 8% of the time winning 6K vs 100% of the time winning 3K. Also it's probably against tournament rules to just call if you have the absolute nuts heads up on river.

The only situation I can think of where I'd let someone survive is a bubble situation where you are dominating the table because nobody wants to bust.

I've never been to Firekeepers, but yeah if they had a series I'd at least go there on weekends.

he's more likely to donk off his stack to one of the other 7 people at the table, even if he picks up chips in between.
Spoiler:

FINISH HIM

They host satellites, but I've never seen them go off, or hear about people playing in them. This may mean that I am not at MGM at the right time. From my understanding, this is just a satellite into the ME and nothing more, other than maybe travel expenses.
As for the Greektown hosting the HPT, that was a long time ago (2004?). If I'm not mistaken, Dean Hamrick FT'ed that tournament.
I wouldn't hope for much from the HPT in the future since their holding company just filed for Chapter 11. Maybe I'm wrong, but we will see.

If never heard of anything major going off at MGM. From what I understand, HPT was owned by the folks who ran Epic Poker League, but was run differently from the EPL and was very much a profitable entity. From what I hear it should be business as usual with them, but I doubt HPT will be back at Greektown.

Speaking of Greektown, I heard a little rumor that 20-40 limit O8 ran in the back room on Saturday morning. Was very sad to hear about this Saturday night

If anyone ever hears about a satellite, or any other tourney, going on at MGM let me know please.

Greektown, I had heard, had some sort of falling out with HPT, after they even had a sponsored room. Not sure what that was about but from what I heard, HPT will never be back at Greektown, but they are at the boring beagle, I mean Soaring Eagle. This year HPT will be there from 6/15-6/24

Mild brag: I FT'd that HPT with Dean in 2008.

Actually I think it was a very good chance of getting it back. I actually busted less than 2 orbits after this and he slowed down on the number of hands he was playing when short stacked. Also this was early enough in the tourney (level 5) that I think keeping him at the table was worth way more than letting someone else sit there.

I also didn't have the nutz, so there was still that possibility. However, I don't think this guy has ever felted me in 5 years, probably 30+ tourneys at the same table (Parrot poker where they rarely had over 4 tables going). Not to mention cash games too. He is really THAT bad. If I felt him, someone better than him WILL sit down in his spot with a lot more cash that can do a lot more dmg.

I really wish I had stayed long enough to see how it panned out. He bled his chips down to 1900 and then doubled up with A3o just before I busted.

So next question, have you ever had anyone that you could play so well they ALWAYS turned over second best at showdown?

Yes, they were owned by Federated Sports + Gaming. They just filed for Chapter 11. From everything I read, "they" want to keep the Epic Poker League. This should include the Global Poker Index, the EPL itself, EpicPoker.com, and the Epic Poker game on facebook. They include the HPT as part of their assets. However, in order to move forward, they will need to reorganize and become solvent. This means selling parts of their company, or using subsidiaries as bargaining chips. I think that they will use the HPT as said bargaining chip.

Basically, in order to pay past due bills, stay solvent, and continue operations they need to liquidate assets. In order to run the EPL, which they see as viable, FSG is probably looking to sell the HPT.

This is just my best guess from their statements and business strategy in terms of their past and present behavior.

This doesn't mean the HPT will cease to exist, completely opposite. I think it will turn for the better, because a new owner has new ideas. This is all conjecture of course, but we shall see how much FSG owes when the figures are released in Chapter 11 filings.

Finally stumbled across the Jose sweat thread. Sick series, my man! A) I will buy a % of your action any time you're selling. B) I think I'll need to get your autograph for my poker cave soon. You're blowin' up, bro!

I would like to offer my congratulations to Jose for his amazing CPC. I am sure you are disappointed that you finished 2nd in the chase for the 50k, but there will be more where that came from.

Once again, congratulations on your successful series and successful package!

My buddy got off work at 4a. We were supposed to go to East Lansing today anyway, so why not go to Firekeepers first? I like gallivanting around southern MI. Its fun.

I think Nye saying that the market cannot expand is having a very narrow view of what external demand can do to bring gambling dollars to Michigan.
because we have **** weather, **** roads, a city with no cops, and high crime. Bring back the Auto industry. And yea lol at them having 8,000,000 casinos in Michigan. Also Vegas has the hottest chicks! Michigan women here have muffin tops like most of the guys! just saying. People like to go to places where there are beautiful people (women). That is why the only people that come to visit Michigan are Married guys who want to go hunting. (mostly to get away from their wife)

We should arrange a meet spot to celebrate our profitable series and collect winnings. Maybe Cadas Room? Talk it over and arrange a time/date best for all. If not then I can deposit at a branch of ur choice.

Thanks for investing guys!

Two tables going at Heidelberg and I have to sit at the reg infested nit fest. Literally one half of the table folded every hand for a hour. It came down to this asian on my right and this Eurodonk, complete with euro accent, who gave all the action.

Second hand after sitting down, asian guy raises to 12 utg+1. I played a lot with this guy before(he was in my last trip report at berg). Look down at KQ and give asian guy no respect, he was short stacked about 65. So I 3bet to 22 to iso. Eurodonk calls and as expected asian guy shoves 65. Pretty standard for me to iso shove here on top to get eurodonk to fold. Long story short, eurodonk calls his remaining 160 with 78 and hits a 7 on the turn. Asian also had KQ and tells me that eurodonk is crazy.

Vatever(said like ziggy). I love loose calls to big preflop raises, I will get him eventually right? I spend the next 10 hands playing pots with this eurodonk, I 3bet him a few times. He goes on this ridiculous heater where he wins 10 hands in a row getting KK twice, 1010, flops top pair 4 times etc.. The whole time I am betting draws, value betting thinly, calling him down, bluffing, and getting owned over and over again. Dumped a total of 500 to this guy and top up to 300. In the game 800.

PureVida moves tables over to mine at about this time and did not get to witness this insanity. I chip up to near 400, one hand was kinda interesting where I 3bet eurodonks 12 dollar raise to 25 with J9. Flop comes KQ8. I bet 35 and he calls. Turn is the 10 giving me str8. I bet 55 and he folds showing Q9. I wish I had checked the turn looking back but was hoping he would spaz raise.

The infamous 2-5 hand.

So Eurodonk raises to 5 utg, weird betsize. I am trying to play every hand with this guy to get my money back and cause hes supposedly bad. For whatever reason I think my hand is 2-3 and the flop comes 10-3-2. So I am like sweet flopped 2 pair. I bet 15 and Eurodonk calls. Turn is a 3. Sweet I have a boat and I bet 35. Eurodonk does exactly what I want and raises 105 more. At this point I look down at my cards only to see that I misread my hand and I have the miserable 2-5. I make the snap decision to continue representing 2-3 and I shove for 200 more over his raise. He doesnt like it, looks sick to himself but decides to call. I am crushed, he must have the 3. How else can he call? We roll our hands, he called with KK and the river comes a 2!!!! OMFG I drop my head in shame + embarrassment + trying to hide how happy I am rofl.

Eurodonk went from spinning his under 200 stack to over 1k and then back down to 0 just as fast. He reloaded a few more times and lost those as well. Just barely saved my win streak, win #9 in a row for +48 dollars. I have been keeping track of my wins the past 6 weeks and I am winning 38.5 dollars per hour over 122.5 hours. I need to move up to 2/5 imo.

there was also a pretty hilarious suck/re-suck when euro villain got it in with 88 vs KK, flopped a set but the K came on the river.

Here's my cool suckout TR from the berg last night. I had about $200 before the hand. SB on a short stack and EP has me covered. EP limps, I raise in the HJ to $12 with JTss, SB and EP call. Flop is 467 and I'm liking my flushdraw+overcards. SB donks out for $18, EP calls fairly quickly. EP is pretty loose and stationy but gets his aggro on from time to time. I make it $70 all day which is enough to put SB allin and I expect to get serious respect from EP. SB calls and now EP jams after two or three seconds. I snap. EP shows A7 and before I'm able to come up with something witty to say about how dominated I am the turn comes the J and the river bricks putting me on my way to a +3 buy-in night.
