I ended up playing the $40 Round by Round today at Cadas. I really wasn't planning on playing any poker today since I got around an hour and half of sleep last night, but I got a txt on my cell from a buddy who put the bug in my ear to play in this tournament. Normally I play Pamaps PLO8 game, but I was way too tired to do any serious thinking, a slight misstep can cost you 300-600 dollars pretty easily. I got in a little late and they had four tables running.
First hand of note was getting AA UTG (second time I've seen this hand in a week and both UTG) blinds are 50-100. I make it 400 to go, end up getting called in 5 spots. Flop comes 679 with two clubs, I have red aces and the BB checks to me, I check, UTG+2 bets out 800, guy next to him makes it 2200. Folds to me and I instamuck and the original flop better just calls. Turn comes a red 2. UTG+2 bets 3000, guy instashoves around 25k. Kid tanks for about two minutes and mucks FACEUP 77. The guy who pushed proudly slammed down the Q4 of clubs for just a flush draw.
WTF?!?
I sorta know how this night is going to go, the guy who pushed the Q4 busted out about 20 minutes later. Flop comes KK3 with two diamonds. Ol' Q4 bets out a pot size bet, very solid blonde reg calls. Turn is the 5 of diamonds, guy checks it, she checks it, river comes 9 of diamonds, he bets half the pot, she min raises his half pot bet, he full pot bets it which is pretty huge at this point (she has just about this much left in her stack) and she intasnap calls with the K9 in her hand. The guy throws a fit, slamming his cards on the table complaining how lucky she was and how much he hates omaha, his hand was the A3 of diamonds. Yup this was pretty much the standard type of play for most of the players tonight...REALLY REALLY BAD. It was a weird mix of some of the worst Omaha players I've ever scene and a few really solid players. Two or three I knew from Sunnybrook/Snookers
Anywho I think 45 played and I made it to the final table. I came into the FT as a short stack with about 6-7 bb. I would have came in to the FT with near the chip lead if this hand would have ran out right. I have around 70k in chips. Its the Omaha round and blinds are 4k-8k, three players limp to me and I check JJ37 in the BB. Flop comes JT4 rainbow, SB bets out around 15k, I shove my stack in. An old man who calls every hand sure enough makes the call, I get one fold and for whatever reason the SB made the call. I show the nuts. SB turns over KKKx, old man shows the mighty T864 with three hearts. Turn comes the 7 and the old 9 hits on the river giving him the straight and leaving me going into the FT with what I had.
I get my hand in near the first couple hands of the FT and go busto. Overall its a fun thing to play, even tough I run awful. Blinds are pretty easy to pick up and steal once its hits the 300-600 and such. Some of the worst Omaha play I've ever seen. I wish it was a tad deeper, but its a 40 dollar tournament and on par with the rest of them. Two months back it only got 18-24 people, I guess they hit over 50 last week and today was an ok turn out for a RxR. I guess they plan on running one on Monday as well since people want to play it. BTW, I did my best to promote the PLO8 on Saturday, and I think I got two takers.
I did catch one lucky break, they spun the wheel and it landed on half off your tab, and thus that is what fueled this TR.
