I normally play at dollar King in Temperance, but I have heard good things about Heidelberg so I may check it out

It takes an hour to get out there from where I'm from, so hearing about the game as or right before it is happening doesn't really help. I'm sorry to be so bitchy about it, I just really like mixed games and I hate missing out.
I'm cool with a mix with HORSE or HOSE and PLO/NLHE/PLO8 too! Any interest in that?

I live in Ypsilanti and I play a weekly mixed games home game. It is invite only but I may be able to get someone in. As far as Heidelberg, there are a few whales that go to play there, business guys who like to play cards after work. Also a few students with student loans or parents money that think they are good. Tourney nits play cash sometimes and you get a few people from the bar come up to play when drinking as entertainment. It is nice to play deep with 300 buyin.

Lately I have been going to MCC because I met up with Jose313 and 1game. If anyone wants to meet up at the 'berg sometime let me know. They do 2/5 on Tuesday.

I've played at the 'burg a few times. I used to know Mike, one of the floors (I think hes still there) pretty well from back in the day at Northville Downs when I lived down the street. I've played a decent number of sessions at Roundtree, though I always sensed something a little bit not right about the gameplay. I'm not saying that there is anything shady going on there, I just dont like the clientele a lot of the times. Players tend to shoot their mouths off, buy in for $40, challenge people to higher games and then back out, etc. I try not to play there, but it is about 10 minutes from my house, so I end up there about twice a month.
I hear there is a place in Milan that gets some decent action, but I have never been down there to check it out, and I don't really intend on it. If I am going to drive that far, I may as well add the 5 extra minutes it will take me to get to Docs or the Downs.
As for the Jackson area, I have no idea what is around. I know of one private game, but I was invited one time, and doubt that I will be coming back.
Kwackbars: What games are played in the mix/stakes? If there is an open spot or something, I would love to throw my hat in the ring to get in to it. If not, no big deal, I'll live I am sure.

credit to sevup for thinking up that line.
Heh. When you said, "She has a big pair, but not that big," in reference to her cards and I gave you an evil grin...the look on your face was priceless. I thought that the massage lady was gonna slap me upside the back of my head for that one. As it was, she was trying hard not to laugh at all of our mischief.

Also funny was when she tripped and spilled her beer and -nobody- got up to help her.

This might mess with my game selection a bit .... but yes to this. There are a couple of guys that play there that are competent, but the whales and wannabes more than make up for it. The problem is that some days there's only one table running and it can take a while to get a seat. But then again if there was more traffic they might keep another dealer around more often.

As a side note, the have really good german beer on tap, and reasonably good (cheap) food too.

Somebody definitely needs to teach Kwackbars how to use the "multi quote" option. Lol.

Hope you did well down there 1game. I'm probably taking this week off from MotorCity casino so I can be fresh for the Chicago series this weekend. Hopefully a few days rest from poker will help me bring my A-game and make me hungry for a win.

hey fellas, pls help me w/ some general questions pertaining to charity games. a family situation may have me move back to Detroit area for an indefinite chunk of time.

A) What is rake in cash games? Standard for all?.
B) What about tipping? I played once near when they started and it was semi-forbade. seem to recall this has changed or loosened. True?
C) Does 2/5nl run at any of these places w/ any regularity?

Thx in advance!

Pretty standard to see 10% rake with $6 max, and tipping is accepted in all charity rooms I have been to now. Casinos always had tipping allowed.

You're best bet for 2/5 is MCC downtown Detroit where it runs daily, but I hear it also runs weekly at Doc's in Livonia and Heidelberg in Ann Arbor. MGM runs it more sporadically too.

When 2/5 runs at a charity its often a round by round game. (NL holdem/pot limit Omaha) downtown you'll find more NL 2/5 and higher action.

2/5 NLHE runs Tuesday evenings at Doc's. It's called "Calvin's Clinic" and it's a wild ride.

I heard it did last week. It's 9 handed atm, with a good bit of action (i. e., JJ).

Oh JJ, I love it when you bluff the river with total air on the river inti a multiway pot with 20+ bb in it. I can't wait fir you to tell me again how raising with AA2T double suited will cause me to go broke in the big games.

May his stock portfolio never run dry. I wont be able to make it til 5ish.

MotorCity Casino is getting a lot of attention from two YouTube videos, but it's not the kind of publicity the gambling palace wants.

Instead of a low-price menu, the casino's Grand River Deli featured an all-you-could-eat slugfest between two groups of women early Friday morning.

The videos, which apparently were taken by patrons' cellphones, show women jumping tables, throwing shoes and kicking and punching each other while wrestling with security guards.
