Ok, can someone explain to me their license? I've heard numerous reports that they're offering blackjack and taking bets up to $200-$250 per hand. I was under the impression that the charity licenses wouldn't allow this. How do they pull this off and what is the story with their poker?

Also they are charging the normal fee strip club entrance fee to get into that room, correct? Somewhere around $15? May or may not be worth it.

Suiteddeuces, thanks for the heads up on the PLO8 game. My home game friends say they are interested too, so just give a post when you find out what nights it's going to run. Is it safe to say that Wednesday nights is the standing night for now, and you're trying to add a weekend night?

I actually got an email suggesting that I do a Michigan Poker Monster podcast featuring this room, but I'm not sure how it will be received.

FWIW I read on their FB page that they are waiving the entry fee to poker players.

Yep, that's exactly right!

As far as the Flight Club, very funny story...So last year I'm living in Vegas and meet this girl who used to date my then roommate and find out she's originally from Ann Arbor. This girl is pretty smokin', blond, curves in the right places, and openly talks about sex, what more could one ask for? Unfortunately, she mistook my at times self deprecating sense of humor for lack of confidence and decides to talk down to me about what women look for in a man. She worked as a "sexy blackjack dealer" at Binion's, but quit due to the guys seeing her as a piece of meat. I side with her, as any woman of substance really does not need to, nor should they want to be treated as such obviously. She moves back to Michigan and what does she do...take a position as "manager/dealer" at the Flight club gambling area. Here's my analogy- "My hand hurts, so I'm going to take it off the stove, and throw myself in the fireplace". Anyways, I'm not sure if it totally worked out, and haven't talked to her in about 2 months, but yeah, just a funny story I thought , oh, and I got asked to be a dealer there lol

That's a funny story. I'm really curious to see what "charities" are agreeing to earn their fund raising from a poker room inside a strip club. I don't know, I guess I'm leaning towards doing the feature if they are on the up and up. Anyone in this forum deal there or have a TR?

Not sure on all the details about "Flying Aces". I have had a brief email exchange with someone from Flying Aces and when I asked about some charity details, the response I received was:

"This is not a charity poker room and is approved by the state. It's attached to the Flight Club (gentlemen's club) and unfortunately they will not disclose the process by which they got this going. But believe me, it's legit".

Now mind you I was talking with someone on the marketing end of the room and not the operation end. I did check on the state of Michigan website and see that they do have charities listed for the complete month, so I don't think the charities mind it being in a "gentlemen's club". I do need to make a run down there to check it out, I like poker and like strip clubs...sounds win win to me...

Joe....

Ok guys, a little up date on the Flight Club. I just texted my friend who works there and she called me back while driving on her way to work. She told me they opened their room on April 8th. They have 8 Poker tables, 6 Blackjack tables, and 1 Roulette table. She told me that right now she only deals blackjack and roulette. She said the blackjack tables have had great action but poker has been hit or miss due to a lack of advertising on their part. From what she told me, the club is having a black tie event I wanna say next Saturday and thinks after that they will be pushing/advertising the poker more, to draw in more people. She could not confirm the cover being waved, but said it "sounded about right".

I mean, it's truly a genius concept and almost makes me feel like it'd be some old school speak easy type establishment from the 20's. Drinking, dames, and gambling! I can see the players there- "Hey I won $500, I can buy some lap dances!". Then also, "Hey, I lost $500, woe is me, might as well get some lap dances". I spent a year and a half of my life working at a Deja Vu and always applauded their practices. We had a boutique where toys, videos, bedroom wear, and female shoes were sold. The girls were encouraged to have several outfits, and spent soooo much of their profits on clothes and shoes. People just never cease to amaze me...

For those interested...We'll be getting a PLO8 game going tonight at the River at 22 and Van Dyke in Shelby Township. We'll be looking to start around 7:30, with $1/$2 blinds, a $3 max rake, and a $300 max buy in. Right now we have about 5 people confirmed, need a few more, and maybe we'll even get a trickle down effect and have a hold em player or two join as well. Most of you interested in this already have my name and number but for those of you who don't, PM me for further details.

In case anyone is curious, the PLO8 game at The River did not go. We had 6 guys, but they all came at different times. I was there playing NLHE while waiting for the game to go and saw the guys try to get it going. I guess it's back to Wednesday nights for now.

How many 1/2 cash tables does the River usually run on weekend nights?

I have not played there since it was under the former name.

String_bean, when I was there last night around 8pm, it looked like they had about 10 tables going, and I'm sure they were mostly, if not all, 1/2. Also, good news about the River. One of the older locals, Ted, who is a well respected guy in the live poker scene here, said they were trying to get a daily $1/$2 RxR Hold 'em, PLO, from 1pm-7pm. He said the deal was $3 rake, plus you can order a meal from the menu COMPED. This sounds like a fantastic idea, and I'll be heading up there Monday to see if this goes. It's still in the "early" stages as an idea, but if anyone is interested in this, post in here, or PM me, thanks!

Thanks, that is awesome. I had stopped going because it was often just one table, or a shorthanded table before. Glad to see they are doing well.

Yes, they're one of the more bumpin' rooms you'll see. I was there Wednesday, left around midnight, and probably had a good 8 tables running.

Flying Aces is a Charity Poker Room, they are just trying to sell a "real casino" concept to the public and to their workers. If you doubt the charity concept, check out the States website at www.michigan.gov/cg and click on Millionaire Party Locator. Look under Inkster and you'll see their charity licenses.

I'm going to get there about 1, and see what we can get going. I have a few phone numbers of the guys who played in that PLO8 game last wednesday and will be sure to send out a text to them. If we can't get it going Monday, I'll suck it up and play just hold em, but just having a presence there would be great for getting this thing to be a daily thing in the future.

Ok guys, got an update for you. Round by round has been running daily, starting at noon at Sunnybrook in Sterling Heights. They do have a higher rake than what the River was going to charge ($5 compared to $3), but they will give every player a free lunch. Anyone who was planning on going to the River Poker Lounge should plan on Sunnybrook, thanks!

Interesting. How often do they get a $2/5 game going? Anyone been here? I wonder what the setup is like and how slow the game is? I imagine there are a lot of distractions.

Can someone tell me how the tournaments are at Snookers, specifically the blind structure? I have played at Northville and the blinds are pretty lol. They call it deep stack/mega stack but it quickly turns into a turbo. I'm assuming Snookers is similar.
