Big weekend at MCC starts today .. $600 BI .. three Day 1s .. Day 2 Sunday and Day 3 Monday (if needed)

Top 20% advance to Day 2. Structure is a bit quick towards the end of the Day 1s, so make sure you have a stack before that time.

I have a sheet posted on Twitter .. ST3-answer20 .. https://twitter.com/answer20more/sta...702912/photo/1

Action starts at 1215 .. GL

Looks like they will get 300+ entries today. Anyone know what the dealer situation is like, are they reaching capacity and having to use alternates? I'm assuming Saturday for sure they will have to cap entries /use alternates?

From Bravo here at 1pm .. Looks like they are running 20 tables and 239 'entries'. I'm pretty sure an entry kicks in even if they are still an alternate. I've not seen the set up, but if they only have 20 tables then there's going to be a lot of folks standing around some Saturday.

There are 3 cash games running right now also, so they must not shut cash down for the tournaments. GL

Pretty darn good day at MCC .. End of day showed 352 entries with 53 Players (15%) moving on to Sunday's Day 2.

Pat Steele is the presumed chip leader per some Twitter posts. He is a seasoned tournament Player from this area with mostly MSPT and HPT scores to his credit

HOWEVER, who would I be without stirring up some dust! By total coincidence I got into Bravo during the Break between Level 12 and 13, which is when late Reg ended. The clock showed 381 entries and 130 Players remaining. As you can see above at the end of the day there were only 352 entries shown .. AND the prize pool stats were removed from Bravo. So what happened to those entries? (and that money?)

I'm no Bravo expert, so maybe there's an issue between the cage and Bravo. It's possible that they made a decision not to allow any more Players sit down after that break. I would find that to be 'odd' but possible. Any Player sitting down after that break would only have had 10BB .. but 'chip and chair' usually apply if someone is willing.

But my issue with that is why were only 13 tables running? Why did they break tables if they still had alternates waiting? Hopefully I'm just naive in this spot. It's very possible that someone entered and withdrew before they were sat or the cage made a mistake and an entry needed to be voided out, but I think almost 30 'events' is a bit high at almost 10%.

Will I be watching today? I might be, but I'm not playing so it's not going to be a priority. I think it's wonderful that there's a casino in Detroit hosting larger entry tournaments and hope they continue for the Players in that area. GL

PS .. Curiosity got the cat .. I called another casino and they indicated that depending on the display settings for Bravo it may show the combined entries, which would include those registered for other Day 1s. And those entries would drop off if they choose to isolate the current day's stats. Whew .. glad I made that call.

Any idea if you can pre-register for tomorrows flight today? I don't want to be stuck being an alternate if I show up earlier enough tomorrow

I assume you can do that based on my fumbled attempt to understand Bravo above. It would be kind of silly to not allow pre-Reg in this large of an event. Hopefully someone that's down there can confirm for you.

I had a buddy go down there today and he got a seat 'no problem' via an 11:40 text. And based on our conversation yesterday he couldn't have arrived before 1115. They have 254 entries as of 1:35 today, which may be a tab bit behind yesterday but I don't know for sure .. it just feels that way.

Obv for Sat with 'everyone' not working it may take getting down there a little bit earlier than a weekday. GL

My day 1C:

Ran pretty hot early. Got to be very active. Had about 60k after an hour or so.

~20k eff at 200/300/300. I iso with JJ in MP to 1200 . CO 3b to 3600. Folds to me. I call. Flop is T high. I check. Villain bets 6k. Kinda **** spot since I can't call and fold turns/rivers. I just rip it and he snaps with QQ. Board bricks and back down to 40k

Was card dead for a couple hours. Got down to 12bb and doubled A9s vs 22.

Card dead again until back down to 15bb. Jam AQ and get called by AJ. We hold.

Card dead again until after dinner break. Table breaks and I get moved to a table that is softer than charmin. I shove 17bb with 66. Win flip vs AK. Put me at about 62k iirc.

Grind it up to 95k effective @ 2k/4k/4k by just punishing limpers and cbetting flops.

I raise 10k UTG+1 with KK. MP flats. Everyone else folds. Flop T84r. I cbet 15k into 30k. He raise to 45k. I jam. He call with JJ. Turn 9 river Q.

Really thought it was going to be my weekend with how good I was running with flips and getting snapped by a worse ace. But alas, apparently a 90/10 is too much to overcome.

Last I looked there were 21 left .. maybe 11pm? Great turnout .. 2x the prize pool guarantee with what must be an extremely fair structure for the amount of play there was on Sunday. I'm interested in checking Bravo at Noon to see where they are at since there's really no live updates or such going on that I know of. GL

Starting Friday there will be a Noon Qualifier and 6PM Satellite at FKeepers in anticipation of the MSPT Day 1A next Thursday. HOWEVER, the Sunday Satty will be at 415PM, not 615PM. Remember you can play these and just sell your seat for a quick tidy profit. The going rate is 950-1050 depending on how desperate you look!

My take is that this will break the record, so plan accordingly, perhaps even 300K for the winner. Registration is open for all three Day 1s so I really suggest making the trip over for a Satty even if you have to play Saturday .. sell your ticket and use the cash to register for Saturday. If you can/plan on firing 2 bullets it could be 3 hours between getting your seats IMO.

Registration is open for all three Day 1s.

The structure is more condensed than the one at 313 MCC, so pay attention to the 'weed out' Levels as they approach. They have also been playing 15 Levels, not 14 on Day 1s to make the Sunday field that much smaller, but closer to the money. GL

FKeepers update .. over 200 committed to Thursday already, usually 30-ish tables available

25K chips, Noon start, 40 min levels, 10 min break between 3-4 and 6-7, 40 min dinner at 620-7PM between 9-10, late reg at 9PM (12-13) .. play to level 15 or 12% at 11PM .. GL

Does MGM rake an extra $1 for daytime high hand jackpots even at night when the promotion isn’t running? They’re raking 10% upto $6 + $1 BBJ + $1 HH 24/7 which seems unfair considering the HH runs only upto 11 pm on most days.

Not sure the exact policy at MGM, but it's pretty common for Dealers to 'be confused' or 'just set in their ways' over what to rake for the promo and sometimes it takes the table captain to ask/remind that it should only be $1 during non promo 'special' sessions.

Although casinos can track the number of drops by a Dealer per down when they're scanned in, I don't really think they can know exactly what's being dropped. So I can't say that the Dealers have any motivation to make larger promo drops than they should. So it really comes down the room policy .. and in reality it comes down to the language in the promos themselves. If a room is not adhering to the guidelines in the promo as approved by Gaming then Players have a right to go to Gaming and 'report' them somehow. GL

Ya I asked floor and they said it’s raked 24/7… like wtf? Promo runs only during the day but night time players have to pay the extra $1 too?

Ime, none of the promo is dedicated. Iow, the $1 isn’t specifically going to daytime promos. It all goes into promo fund not $1 to bad beat and $1 to HH or whatever. Also in theory you are paying for future promos not current. And those future promos co7ld be at night.

Only on 2+2 have I heard of extra $1 only being collected during promo hours. Not saying I am against or it is bad, but does not seem common anywhere I have played.

So in essence, it’s $6+$2 for a total of $8 max rake.

Yes, and $4 of that comes out at $20 so it really hurts the limping type of tables.

Not sure your BR, but I believe you earn 2x comps at the 2/5 tables. The language on Bravo is not as clear as it was a few months ago. GL

Yes, I've been asking about this for a while now.

There is NO WAY that it should be legal for the house to take a cut/rake/drop for a promotion that you are NOT ELIGIBLE TO WIN. If the high hand promo stops at 11PM., then the drop for it should stop at 11:01.

If I had more time & energy, I would contact the Michigan gaming commission over this.

I also think that this has made the 1/2 games almost unplayable over a long period of time (if you are not eligible for the promo). An $8/drop on a sub $100 pot is a HUGE percentage. This is doubly true with dealers "rounding up" and the $2 promo drop on pots of $20 & up. This is also a triple whammy when you don't get any food in the room, and comps are not worth what they once were.

Detroit rooms also have the problem of not as many "casual" players as there were in the "before times". Now? Mainly experienced & degenerates out.

Much harder to make $$$$ in Detroit's 1/2 games now!

Back then the Wings and Tigers were a lot better, so it might help a bit if Illitch got things going again. Who knows?

I just remember good times downtown during the early 2000s. IIRC, 3/6 was the lowest limit at Greektown at the time and we'd all sit down with $100, lmao. Interestingly tho, we'd often leave up a couple hundred or so. Personally I don't think any of us knew wtf we were doing.

I moved to Cali in 2006 and then up to Northern MI, so I haven't really been back down there except maybe a couple times after they moved to the smaller poker room.

Sounds like I'd definitely have to polish up on my live cash game if I were to head back down. What's tournament life like down there? I haven't heard much, maybe just a couple tourney's on the weekends?

1) Before wasting Gaming's and your time make sure you request an official copy of the promotional HH language. After a perusal of that, then you will be able to specifically talk turkey with Gaming .. and then hope they actually do look into it and respond. I've never been through the official process so you'll have to ask about that as well.

Actually the 'best' first step would be to ask for (or call) the Gaming Rep that's on site at MGM. I believe that there's always a Gaming Rep on site. They may be able to assist with getting the Promo document and/or addressing your issues directly.

I believe that the poker room 'must' offer a copy of the Promo balance sheet on a daily basis or give you some method as to acquire it. Depending on the format you may/should see how the balance of each Promo changed from day to day during the current month/week.

2) Yes, poker is very 'Rec Reg' heavy, especially during the week .. but that doesn't mean they're playing any better. Harder to find the gifters, but you should still be able to find plenty of spots to apply pressure or GII well ahead of your opponents.

3) Other than the Saturday Motor city tournament(s) I don't think there's very many 'casino' options out there. The charity rooms will probably offer a daily tournament, but it will still be a lower buy-in and only 3-5 tables.

4) Soaring Eagle is supposed to be working on reopening after hiring a 'new' room manager, but there's no timeline as of yet. They've been having labor issues of finding enough Dealers to take over for the pit Dealers who want to be in the poker room. I also believe that they are trying to set up a system where Dealers keep their own tips. GL

Just a reminder that this Sunday is a 5th Sunday of May .. so the $500 will be taking place at FKeepers at Noon. Hard to forecast this event, but it's still a decent BI with a decent structure .. AND you have Monday to recover if you run deep and end up driving home in the dark! (That would be a good thing)

The BBJ is pushing 200k and two of the Royal bonuses are near 3K

Nothing 'special' at MCC, Greektown or MGM .. although $1K hourly HH at MGM 10AM-3PM Sat/Sun still allows you to picnic in the evening! GL

Big weekend for you tournament Players!! Motor City is hosting it's 'monthly' $300 on Saturday and FKeepers is holding a $450 Black Chip Bounty on Sunday. Motor City had just under 400 entries in May with 23k up top. One of the last BCBs at FK had the winner take down 22 bounties on his way to an un-chopped FT win.

Plenty of HH promos at both MCC and MGM as a new 'hold card' bonus promo at MCC. GL

Great showing for 'Detroit' in the Housewarming Event #5 at WSOP. A Player from Southgate turned a $500 entry into more than 200x and a top 10 finish against 20,080 entries. This tournament took almost a week to complete and concluded with over 1 Billion in chips in play at the Final Table. Another Player from Commerce Twshp also placed in the top 40.

The FT was streamed on YouTube by PokerGo but I'm not sure if you can view it now. Interesting dynamic as almost all of the Players were scoring 'poker life' changing money and the Floor had to step in and squash any talk of a chop. The winner will receive over $700K .. quite a step up from his less than $2k recorded wsop scores from almost 10 years ago!

Yes, these low BI shove-fests have horrible structures forcing constant action .. but there's a very enticing pot of gold at the end, eh? GL

Hey all:

I was at MotorCity the other day. They are running a "boosted" high hand promo. $1 drop is taken out for it, but it runs 24/7.

They had a decent amount of players, but I think they had 8 tables going total. All were 1/2 Hold Em, with 1 2/5 Hold Em. Around midnight, players started to file out. By 2:30 AM, a bit more than half of the players had left.

when I first came in, a lot of the players were "itchy". Lots of yelling & arguing. Floor was getting called every 15 minutes. Eventually, security came a couple of players had to be escorted out of the room.

While I was there, I saw plenty of regulars. There were a bunch of people I didn't recognize though. One promising thing was that there were a few bridal parties walking by the poker room through the night. So "casual" people are starting to come back to the casinos, which will be a good thing for the poker rooms.

When I go to the casinos, I try to keep a very low profile. I don't want to stand out OR be recognized. I am not unfriendly at all, but just king of quiet and laid back. I most certainly do try to watch & keep track of other players, so if I see them in the future, I can remember their style of play. One thing that embarrassed me was that there were several people who recognized me, but I didn't remember them at all. Maybe my memory is not as good as it once was? Or perhaps I stand out more than I think I do?

The dealers were pretty good & friendly.

I started out card dead and losing, but i picked up some luck and made some good plays and wound up winning a few dollars.

Not sure about the situation at the MGM, but will check it out soon.

Hey all:

Was at MGM poker room last night.

It was pretty busy...only 1 or maybe 2 tables not being used.

MGM has probably 90% of the business for games ABOVE 1/2 and PLO in the Detroit market.

The management of the room has come up with something very innovative. The rake is 10% up to $6. The promotional drop is simply $2 for the bad beat. The poker room then runs a high hand promotion from time to time. So perhaps that is how they now get around players being upset about a $1/high hand promotion drop
that only ran during certain hours.

The casino itself was VERY busy. Busier than I have seen it since the before times. There were also some casual players both in the poker room and the casino floor itself. I saw a couple of bridal parties and a couple of batchlorette parties.

I only stayed a couple of hours and walked out a small winner.
