Decided to change it up and go to motor city for the first time in 3 years. First hand at 1/2 I pick up AKo in MP, raise to 15 over one limper, and immediately get scolded by said limper about how we’ll never hit the high hand playing like that.

What do you guys think of the 2/5 players at MC vs the 2/5 players at MGM? I notice a stark contrast.

It all depends on the day and time. What is the stark contrast you see?

MGM usually has 4-5 middle eastern nits, 1-2 white young nitreg pros wearing caps and 2-3 black guys who are hit or miss.

Motorcity, nobody knows what they’re doing and call everything preflop.

Why's it gotta be racial?

And honestly, I don't agree at all. But maybe it's because I play at different times of the day or something. I find the Motorcity game to be really tight and not nearly as full of calling stations preflop.

Yea. Vast generalization and just not true really.

On a side note, to add to the Tony discussion, does anybody when the new tournaments will be introduced at MCC? They advertise a new tournament manager and I spoke with Tony (now at mgm) about what to expect out of them and he said there would likely be some $350 multi day tournaments and similar. That was about 5 weeks ago though and haven’t heard anything since and MCC has been talking about the new tournaments on Bravo for quite some time now.

It passed by a huge margin last year, I think it was, only to have Snyder strike it down before leaving office. Is it officially legal now, or does the new governor have a chance to veto this? I know she wasn't in favor of some things.

"Nice" that casinos can contribute to political campaigns now.

It appears that the Michigan Senate has come up with 10 separate bills (smart) that will change the landscape of the Detroit casinos, sports betting, fantasy sports and horse racing. The Governor wanted to change how the tax dollars generated were allocated and it appears things have come together.

The Senate passed one bill yesterday 34-4 (29 required) and will try to vote on more of them this week. Then it's off to the House and ultimately the Governor, who should sign them considering they changed them for her!

It would probably be a miracle to expect any Super Bowl betting, but March Madness should fully be in play for any entity that 'could' have been prepping for this to happen.

Certainly WPT.com would open up but I'm not sure how the online poker situation will develop. There was talk of a limited number of online gaming licenses and then those holders would have to either partner with a poker site or develop their own site/software. GL

Not sure .. but First Responders cancer fund? .. and schools .. GL

It is amazing that the lottery is for schools, and now this will add .. and they get property taxes/millage funds .. and yet lots of districts struggle. Huge undertaking in all areas for sure .. GL

Omg you’re telling me we can bet on sports now???

Really couldn’t care at all. Mgm and the other casinos are just going to charge outrageous juice on all their odds and -115 will be commonplace. No way I would consider using their shitty sites in place of the leading offshore sites.

I can’t imagine poker will be much better until it is legalized nationally and we are allowed to play against other countries.

I thought that states like NJ and NV play in the greater playerpool on clients like Pokerstars, but I'm not sure.

NV has it's own pool.

NJ and PA are combined, as are a couple of others.

PA is on its own. You can download Stars PA from the Mount Airy website.

You do realize it's cold in Michigan and there are many many many colleges with bored students?

It will be interesting to see how MI can sustain long term ... but it will be crazy when it opens up for sure. GL

Then which States are in that pool? Delaware?

Maybe it wasn't PokerStars.

Either way the online poker market in the US is completely FUBAR.

All the states are separate for now. That way the Feds stay out of it. Haven't heard of anyone getting caught bouncing IPs around other than the high profile one in Vegas. GL

The degeneracy per capita in Michigan must be really strong.

While the top 5 markets for lottery sales are on the east coast, MI is in the top 10 per capita at over $300 per year .. and yet we can't seem to land a PB or MM winner ..

It might be time to invest in a 'high comfort' internet cafe in both Dundee and New Buffalo ... although if Four Winds-NB gets their act together they could provide a new type of 'poker' room never seen before in a casino. GL
