Anyone playing the $500 survivor tournament at Motorcity on Sunday night? Hopefully they get a decent turnout.

So what are my PLO options around town? The MGM $1/3 (but really $2/5) is pretty hit or miss. Is there are consistent game with a $100 min buy around?

MGM died out already? Everytime I looked at Bravo I used to see multiples games

It's Summer ... and a late starting one at that. But I've seen a steady drop in numbers since Spring Break/Easter/Tax Season very similar to previous years. Lots of folks in Vegas including many who are going multiple times and for longer stays.

I'm no forecaster, but the economy is slowing down quite a bit and a lot of Players who are small business owners are out there just trying to keep their crews busy past two weeks at a time. GL

The game is always there when I go, but sometimes the table conditions are bad. Or the conditions are good and then they must-move me to a ****ty table. And I hate the $200 min. Other options would be nice.

Was the structure in the Motor tournament as bad as I imagine?

2/5 every day at motorcity. Starts between 9 AM and 11 AM every day. Monday/Thursday/Saturday is a scheduled game that starts at 10 AM. The list on Monday carries forward from the people there at 10 AM the week before, so if you put yourself on the list that morning you’re probably going to be 15th at best. The bright side is you have a good chance at a second table and the must move is almost always better than the first table.

MGM’s 1/3 game goes every night. Usually by 4 or 5 PM and will run all night. It’s summer so it’s a little touch and go at both places some days but there’s almost always a game somewhere in town.

I know that MGM's game goes every night. But I don't want to play $2/5 all the time (which is what that game really is).

Is there any reasonably regular PLO game in a charity room with a $100 min buy?

The only charity plo that I know of is the Wednesday night game that was at Wintergarden but moved to Players (8mile and farmington). I wouldn’t call it reasonable though. $100-$300 buy-in game that turns into an all-in fest until people build stacks.

Reasonably regular means that it runs every week, not that the players are "reasonable". A bunch of idiots punting stacks is *perfect*. It's pretty easy to fold a few hands until you get a good spot, take a massive +EV multi-way 'flip' and then carry on.

Worse. It was worse than a charity tourney

Then every Wednesday night at Players is the game for you. Good luck. For $100 preflop you’re getting 5 callers. Going to have to run good and hope you find a winner before they run out of chips (which happens before 10 pm every week)

I actually went and registered and then saw the blind structure (which of course was not readily available) and then unregistered. I mean the structure was just awful, especially considering a $500. In fairness, I guess I should have known that considering it started at 6:10pm. I did however, have a lengthy talk with Tony about it and how to run a reasonable structure. Told him $500 once a quarter with a good blind structure starting at noon and he would make a killing. He seemed genuinely interested and was willing to listen, which was appreciated. Hopefully we will see a change in the future, it would be nice to not have to drive all the way to Firekeepers for a decent structure.

Motor City never has and never will run a good tournament. They’ve always done goofy structures since day one.

I think "Make a killing" is probably an overstatement, but I get your point.

On the bright side, Tony is very open to suggestions from players. If it even comes close to making financial sense for the poker room, he'll do it. The bright side of a noon tournament on Sunday is that many players that bust early will stick around and play cash, boosting the poker room on a day when it's normally a little slower.

Lit a few hundo on fire at MGM Sunday afternoon. Their 2:00 bounty tourney got 79 runners. Almost $1900 up top. 9th got $181.

Is Motor City offering $1/hour now on top of the VIP rewards program? I heard a dealer mention they were going to start this but I haven’t heard anything more on it since then. I think it would be a reasonable counter to the outrageous $6+$2 rake now.

Nothing officially posted yet, but word is $1/hour that will be paid in the form of a Speedway gas card/gift card. You’ll have to play 40 hours or more (per month) to receive the card, so the guy who plays 5 hours once a month won’t earn anything.

I should have known better, but I figured for $500 they would have a semi-clue. I agree though, if someone put together a $500, like the monthly at firekeepers, it would draw big. MGM is getting good turnouts for their bounty tournaments, mcc got I think 35ish for that tournament and it was a complete **** show. Also, every time Toledo has an event with a guarantee or a small series, they end up drawing awesome numbers. It’s almost like each room (mgm/mcc/Toledo) does one thing particularly well and blows at everything else. Idk, it can’t be that hard, the market is available.

Is there a 'poker house' in Sterling Heights? I saw 6-8 Players make it to Day 2 of either the $1K double or $800 DS when I was looking at chip counts. I assume it's just a group that knows each other and worked their schedules together but it's a pretty impressive showing.

Couple of Lansing guys pushing forward but not a lot to talk about from GR that I've seen. I know a lot of the GR crowd actually stays away from The Rio and plays The Strip tournament scene.

SEagle 1/2 cash on a Sunday night was actually pretty exciting with 3-4 Players pushing action from 8pm-3am. It got a little quiet when two of them went to tackle the buffet but definitely exceeded my expectations for the game. Still a little head shaking at the procedures and staff but if you know what to expect going in then you can deal with it.

Interesting part of the night was when one of the action players (with accent) asked about a hand that had occurred 4-5 hands previously and wanted to know why his 42o lost on 64646 v KK. The Floor simply said "He had a pair of Kings" and started to walk away ... The player relented "But I had three 4s" and the Floor couldn't figure out how to explain it very well. I finally showed him and his friend on my phone app and tried to explain that he was simply playing the Board after the third 6 came out on the River. GL
