MCC already has 2-3 hour wait times. And I believe that is the only place in the Detroit Metro area spreading these high stake games (5/10 and above). Even if places like Greektown and MGM wanted to spread these games now, where would the fish come from for these games?
I think much more likely is that our proximity to Canada will make online grinders jump borders, but then again, what are the legalities of such a move? Seems like unless you live near Vegas or LA or maybe AC, you're screwed. Then again, I think most people who are not panicking are hoping things will clear up and they'll be able to play online soon again. But how soon?
MC is the only place that spreads 5/10 and higher w/ any regularity. MGM used to have it on Fridays only and it was one of the best games. Unfortunately for whatever reason that game died out 3-4 months ago....maybe because of the MC badbeat? MGM used to allow you to buy in for $1,000, but that also changed a few months back and now it's $500 max again.
With regards to your question of how soon, while this might not be the right thread I'll give my opinion since I already commented on something related to Detroit poker ;-)...I might be in the minority because I think this crackdown might end up being good for online poker. Sure I've got some money tied up and might not ever get it back, but the skill vs. luck argument will probably be settled a lot faster now that ftp and stars are shut down in the US and their owners have been indited. Are poker sites in violation of the bull **** UIGEA which was back doored at the 11th hour or not? I think 6 counts were based on them violating the UIGEA and the poker sites always said that they weren't in violation because poker isn't gambling as much as it is a game of skill (paraphrasing).
I think party poker is going to again be the number one online site when things get started again, however I fear that might not be anytime this year. I just hope rakeback is still available. Is empire poker still around?!
