If you ever get offered tickets to things like that, I would gladly negotiate a fair price with you.

Thanks

Probably one of my favorite Jack Black scenes was in Tropic Thunder when he was coked up, and they had him tied up to the tree. The way he tried to talk them into letting him go was hilarious.

Actually played last week at MGM for the first time in weeks. Didn't know they had that $50 bonus every hour where they "splash the pot". My table got picked and of course, UTG straddles the hand; there's four limpers ahead of me. I figured I would raise to $25 on the button (maybe should have gone higher?) to thin the herd, but of course I get six callers. So now it's basically who hits the flop and goes all in. Wasn't me.

Too broad of a question ... Always check out The Millionaire Party Locator on the Michigan.gov web site and then narrow your search by city or county. This is an excellent tool, but beware that the licence times don't always match the actual poker playing times.

Just put 'Millionaire Party' into the search box and it should come up. GL

Ooops .. you said 'good' .. Don't really know. Detroit Junkie should have a decent pulse on the rooms his employer is associated with. I've always had good luck at 5 Star Bowling up off I-75

Can we start calling answer20 - "Michigan Kevmath"? I love what he does for poker in the area. Constantly updating the masses on poker happens via social media, 2plus2, etc.. Thank you Michmath!

Should probably just jam the splashpot, or limp and *then* jam.

All the charity rooms I've ever played at were hit or miss. Sometimes the best game on the planet. Sometimes dead for some unknown reason. Just pick one to go play at, and a backup, and go.

We could be seeing quite a feat on the 'JV' tours. AJohnson won the HPT tour POY honors in Chicago this week. Overtaking the field with a late season push and a 7th (?) place finish at the year end event in Chicago. He forced another into a position that he needed to win the tournament to win the POY .. he finished 3rd! So some good drama there ...

Maybe not so much drama on the MSPT tour. With two events to go AJohnson has quite a lead and with a decent amount of points in Milwaukee could possibly lock out all the chasers going into their season finale in Dec.

For the same Player to win POY in the same year on both tours, quite a feat!! GL

So...

I've been inactive for a while.

Life.

Played a couple of times recently for the first time in a few years

Pretty sure I had a fellow Forum member at my table a few weeks ago. He got pissy when I set mined with Jacks and hit against him.

Good to be back in the game and life in general

Poker Monster. Very good to see you back too.

No .. just news worthy for tournament buffs. He made Day 2 in Milwaukee, but with only 30K (maybe 10bb). Surprised he didn't dump the stack and play Day 1B. It will probably come down to the MN Poker Championship in Dec as Blake Bohn has well over 200K and should cash in Milwaukee to gain some ground.

I've been watching Bravo and it appears that MGM is gaining ground on MCC pretty much every month. With the BBJ now destroyed (Gun Lake may have a bigger one by now!) it should really come down to who offers the better experience.

Interesting twist to one of the MCC tournaments ... a top 5 hands 'reward'? ... The top 5 hands (FH or better) at the end of Level 7 get their BI back!! ... Where does the money come from? The prize pool or promo fund? GL

Played at M59 west in highland tonight. Great structure!!

Started with 30k in chips. 15 min blinds. 1 rebuy allowed before first break. 1 addon for $10 at break for 10k in chips.

Structure went:

100-200
200-400
300-600
400-800
500-1000
6-1200
8-1600
1-2000
15-3000
2-4000
3-6000
4-8000
10-20000
15-30000
20-40000
30-60000
40-80000
50-100000

That’s as far as we got and we chopped 4 ways for $440 each on a $35 buy in.

Next Saturday they have their $100 buy in.. same structure except first 4 levels are 20 minutes and then drop to 15 the rest of the way.. but 50k in chips. TD said they get 70-100 players.

Hey Frank..

Probably because of what alot of guys say....life gets in the way.

I haven't played much in years. Slowly getting back into it. I have started playing in a home tournament just to get my feet wet again

I'm glad to see MGM finally getting more traffic and 'respect'. They've had a much better experience/game for $1/2 for a decade and never seemed to be able to break the BBJ fever or whatever spin MCC had.

I've been playing just as much as ever, but have switched from a weekly casino trip with a smattering of short charity room sessions to almost entirely home games.

The new room is better, but the smoke in both rooms is really a negative for both mgm and MCC. I’ve been to a lot of casinos in my life and never seen any two casinos as smoky as these two. I feel like in general MCC is more smoky but the poker room at MGM is certainly more smoky. The new room is so open to the floor and any poker player just steps right outside of it and blows the smoke right in.

I wonder if the Greektown room will change when it gets bought by Penn National

People right on here bitched about the MGM room when it was upstairs and effectively smoke free. Now it's downstairs and "smokey". But FWIW MCC is worse.

My very first comment to GLake was that they missed the boat with not enclosing the room like SEagle did. (Yes, a positive comment about SEagle!!) Both noise and smoke being the key issues IMO. GLake had a plan in mind by almost constantly running the HVAC system to force air out of the room but the Players at certain tables were complaining of the draft, even with the high ceilings, so they adjusted the blowers .. now your clothes get slightly smoky when playing but nowhere near as much as MCC or MGM. GLake had a noise issue at first (from the slots) but they were quick to act and had the max volume on the nearest machines turned down ... kudos. GL

I wonder if that has anything to do with the fact that poker players can speak and slot players only know how to yank their arms and hands up and down. Insert your own “ no more yanky my wanky “ jokes here :
