Right but it isn't a planned MUG and he didn't announce a day or time. He is coming to visit family and hopes to get in a session.

Old...that was the good old days of Northville Downs poker room.
Home of the only 64-man ,,$125 buy in,,,heads up tournament
We had had a least 5 tournaments with $10k payouts for first place..

Biggest prize pool was a 129 player, $250 buy in, with a $26k prize pool

How do you get a $26k price pool from $15k in sales?

Anyone know how consistently the Wintergarden PLO runs? Does it start at 6pm when they open, or later?

pokeratlas says 'once per week' but it doesnt say which day - https://www.pokeratlas.com/poker-roo...nia/cash-games

edit: if you call or find out let us know, I might make a trip down to give it a try one day when I am off work next week.

Their actual website says Wednesdays, and this is the day that they overlap with Doc's being open.

In the 'old days' you could sell tournament seats on multiple days as long as you set up the license that way. We had a $250 entry with $5K first place ... all that charity would do for it's first three days is sell tournament seats (up to 60) and then the actual tournament would be held on the 4th day with all the players coming into play.

Under the new charity rules (I think) that were passed by both the House and Senate but are now stuck in 'regulatory review' a charity running their own game could sell an aggregate of chips during their license period, but if a Supplier is involved then it will be capped at $20K (maybe $25K) per day. GL

PS .. Remember back then you could have multiple charities running at the same time, so even though you had a charity sitting there only selling tournament seats any other charity that was there was selling chips for cash or that day's tournament.

Anyone have insights to the BBJ of $800K+ that recently hit?

Word on the street is that it was quads over quads and each held a pocket pair.

QQ vs 33. I don’t really know the specifics of the hand but I did play with the winner of the hand (33) a couple days after it happened. Apparently he is a regular 1/2 player there, but I guess was playing 2/5 that night which is where I was. He didn’t seem all that with anything really, still kind of seemed grumpy.

Wow MGM has more games going than Motor City. I don't know if that's normal these days but looking back years ago, I never thought I would see that day.

MGM has almost always had a better room.

Seems that most times I check Bravo that MCC has about 4-5 more tables on average going more than MGM. They generally have at least double the 2/5 games going that MGM does I tend to go there and there is a 5/10 NL game going much more often and I’ve always been of the theory that you don’t want to play the highest game in the room as the best players will gravitate towards that game.

I’m not sure if the lower BBJ has had anything to do with that, although it is still really high relatively speaking.

I know MCC is implementing some sort of VIP program next month where if you play 40 hours you get into a 35k freeroll, and if you play 80 hours you are a “VIP2” which gets entry plus some added benefits. They are both supposed to have added benefits but I don’t believe either has been announced. Not sure if anyone has heard any rumors on that. Pretty good perk in my opinion I’m sure designed to counter some the increased action at MGM

Interested to hear more why you say that? Not that I am arguing, but none jung I can say about MCC is the dealers keep their own tips, which inspires them t actually do a good jobs and deal more hands per hour. I’ve seen some godly slow dealers at MGM

I don't think MGM has dedicated poker dealers, do they? Yeah they've always been bad (although I haven't played there much in a few years). Keith knows how to run a poker room, knows the rules and how to deal with and handle people. I think he's pretty well respected by the players also.

I've now bubbled the two biggest tournaments I played this summer. Finished 38th in Toledo's $350 bounty. 36 paid.
Interesting hands:
Early on yesterday. I have KK. Qq raises in ep. qq flats. I make a big reraise. 1010 on my direct left tanks, folds. One of the qqs called. I shoved the flop and took it down, but the flop was 10102, yikes!
Biggest hand yesterday, I raised A9, JJ flats me. bb shoves 6 bbs. I reshove to isolate, not putting jj on what he had. He tanks for 3 or 4 minutes. Eventually calls, I hit an ace.
I was 8/64 heading into today. Everything went wrong, zagged when I should have zigged. Most important pot was me in bb. K9 raised on button. I have 108cc. I defend, flop is 789 rainbow. They shoved, I called, couldn't hit. Oh well.
Might play the 1000 next weekend.

The room itself was physically nicer when it was upstairs. Better tables, cleaner, no smoke. I like the bigger tables, but some people hate the racetrack. I like it. Moved downstairs it's still nicer than the MCC room. Brighter and more space between tables, and less smoky (not as good as upstairs).

The buy in caps for the $1/2 game are better at MGM. The $300 max really makes the game *much* better, even if only some people do it. The action was always better at those tables. Much better than the shortstackers chasing the BBJ at MCC.

Dealer quality has always been kind of a problem at MGM since they're not dedicated poker dealers and they chop their tips. But they're still faster than some of the schmucks at GT that *do* keep tips. MCC are a little faster, but I've seen them make a lot of mistakes with side pots and misdeals, especially when burned out by BBJ fever.

Now if you wanted a $2/5 game, you were out of luck once the regular game died years ago (6 now?). Same if you wanted a game at 9am on a Tuesday. But if you had a relatively normal schedule and wanted to play $1/2, MGM > MCC.

Is it just Doc's people moved to a new location? I don't see anything for Doc's on the Millionaire party locator.

Welp, didn't bubble the Toledo 1000. Lasted 4 levels. Up against a flopped set 4 times where I either had flopped top pair or had aces or kings. not good. Good to see you Alex, hope you ran better than me!
