What's the latest I can get to FK and not be an alternate?

I would get to FK by 840 .. You can call them Sat night to see how many entries they have already, but I would still plan on being in line before 900. I don't remember for certain, but usually its 850-910 when they get into the first alternates.

This tournament is pretty deep the first 4-6 Levels (3 hours of play), but there are a couple of spots that really knock the field down. Last alternates are usually in by Level 8 with 12-18BB. (Yikes!!) I think the average stack jumped from around 22-24BB up to 34BB when they got to FT in the last one. There was a Level or two where they were stuck around 30 players due to the shorties winning the flips! GL

PS .. They had 37 entries as of Noon yesterday ..

similar bad structure for their regular sat and sun tournies (no clue what they offer now in terms of bounty stuff)? appreciate the info, was considering trekking down to play one day, might have to settle for 3/6 limit with a buddy.

really wish there was a cardroom in SE michigan that isn't filled with smoke, angle shooters, clueless staff and bad security. dont think this is too much to ask for. illegal online poker for me

If I drove out and registered tonight or tomorrow I can just show up whenever and sit down to a stack right?

YES ... If you are part of the 'original' 230, then your stack is in play. They are even being more strict when your Alt number is called and just putting the stack down at that table 'in play'

So you could reg today and let your 40K be blinded off and still walk into 80BB+ or so in Level 3 or 4 if you wanted.

I just confirmed this with the poker desk ... and they have 57 already paid. GL

Has anyone had Angel's envy bourbon? It's mighty good. I've been on a bourbon kick the last year and a half (mostly old fashioneds) and have tried so many I think I might run out soon.

I recall liking it but it has been a while. I tried all sorts of expensive and barrel proof bourbons when I got it into it some years back. Now I stick to the cheap stuff to pinch pennies. When I went to Indiana to visit a friend a couple years ago I came back with 30+ fifths of great bourbon in my trunk because it was all so cheap down there. That was an expensive road trip.

So I was basically correct on the FK500 stuff ... I regged at 834 and was #223, up from 174 when I called about 45 minutes earlier during the drive. So I made the starting field. So my guess of selling out the starting field by 900 certainly came true.

They do start with 260, not 230, so a few extra get in there. I got a Seat 5, which I don't prefer but it will be one of the early break tables since it's in the 'cash area' of the room.

Not sure what color (it's not pink) my 3-bet shirt is and I do have my hat today! GL

Thanks for the updates on this. Please keep us updated on the final payouts and the structure.

I played in the monthly deep stack at soaring eagle ($240) yesterday and bubbled the final table. But, for what it’s worth they changed the structure on this and it seems much better. There were 88 players, play starts at 10:30am now, and it was down to the final table about 8 ours in to play. The blinds are a litttle higher in the beginning but level out and only go up every 30 minutes throughout the torunemant. The quarterly tournament, which is $350 I believe has the same structure and 10k additional starting chips.

I know everyone here hates soaring eagle but the new room is pretty sharp. It’s in the back of the casino, in a completely separate room with a door, so no smoke what so ever. Tables are also way nicer with USB chargers at each seat. They also have sandwiches, pizza (which was pretty solid) and a couple other snacks and soda station setup, similar to MCC. It still doesn’t seem like they are getting much traffic in the bravo poker app but I did not find the players in the tournament to be difficult at all. It is only 14 tables now so any tournament would be capped at 140 players. But, if you don’t mind the drive for a reasonable tournament once a quarter I think it’s worht it.

Lots of fun at FK ... 415 entries, 1 more than the record ... Yes, 38K for first. Ended in an unfacilitated 6-way chop (no details). FK will stop the clock but wont change any of the paperwork, so someone had to sign for the actual 1st place prize. I think everyone got more than 3rd but less than 2nd place money. The average stack at the time of the chop was 22bb.

Ran hot early and got lucky in one spot where I free-rolled the WSOP Ladies Champ from Detroit in a hand. We both Flopped the nut straight but she had 2 pulls to a flush and missed both ... then I doubled up shortly there after with another Flopped straight v set who blanked twice. Then it was cold until the 7th Level when the alternates were only coming in with 20bbs and I got bluffed off a winner when the guy over-shoved a paired board River when I really should've shoved the Turn. Then, as poker goes, things went down hill from there not really making any other hands and finally losing AQ to KJs when a Jack hit the Turn.

Cash (why do I even enter tournaments?) was excellent with both the PLO and 2/5 going strong. I left the PLO a little earlier than normal so a reg could sit when the must-move broke. All in all I left quite a bit ahead after covering my tournament entry. Just a good day when the River was kind in quite a few spots.

If you are a week day Player then you may want to consider FK on Wednesdays in August. They will be giving away cash starting at Noon. Each hour played is an entry into the drawing and your entries are only 'active' if you are sitting at a table. Obviously with a promo like this the more advantage the regs will have later in the month since they will have stacked up a bunch of entries. My side point is that these folks will be sitting on their hands and pots will be primed for stealing on these days IMO. FK does this every August for their anniversary. GL

What is the action like? Only been there once, and it seem loose play was the norm. Seemed very beatable, with lots of reckless play.. what’s your take on the room.

Anyone else having trouble with their Bravo Poker app today? All I get is a blank, black screen. iPhone, if that matters....

I've yet to sit in a charity room anywhere that wasn't loose and super beatable. At least at normal times. I'm sure 2pm might be different.

Bravo looks normal. Sometimes the screen is black when an ad fails to show up. I just back out and get back in. GL

Pretty wild but a guy (apparently an mcc reg) i played with a couple weeks ago was arrested on july 18th for a string of bank robberies in oakland county. I played with him on the 17th and when he sat down he told a story about how he was just pulled over at gunpoint in Berkley for matching the description of a robbery suspect. Eventually they let him go and i even made a comment “so you got away with it?” which he chuckled at. Today my wife (mcc server who knew him from there) showed me the story in the news with his pic, crazy!

That is pretty crazy. A guy at Soaring Eagle last week was telling a story about how he was playing that and cops stormed the poker room and arrested a guy at the table, apparently he was on America’s most wanted. I don’t know but if I was a high profile criminal I think I would tend to stay away from somewhere with a bunch of cameras.

Exactly. Nowadays people tend to forget your every public move is probably being recorded either by establishment security cameras or individuals with phones.

Quick question about Firekeepers. Do they have a poker rate for their hotel rooms? I thought I remembered seeing that they had one, but when I called the person I spoke to was clueless.

Thanks in advance.
