Also worth noting an orbit before the same guy at the same lvl raised in early position to 9k, I shoved for 40k., and he mucked an ace face up.

What should I do?

I think it's an easy fold. Aren't you practically guaranteed a spot?

Yes that's exactly what I thought............the moment AFTER I shoved, AQ- called, Axx flop, out 16th.
Driving home I felt like the Florida State coach when asked why he didn't foul with 11 seconds left down 4. Moral of the story, I'm no Alex.

Thanks guys

It feels great to finally have a trophy to show for all the hours I’ve dedicated to this occasionally soul crushing game.

Wings win!! Scooped up 4 tickets from sports radio yesterday and walked in just as Sid the Kid was scoring 38 seconds into the game. Wings scored the next 4.

The LC arena is amazing, tons of technology but I didn't feel overwhelmed either. It's 'a long' way down to the 6th row from street level though! It's true that you don't even need to go to your seat to enjoy the facility .. or the game. The scoreboard 'inside' the scoreboard is genius. Felt pretty safe outside walking back to car as well. We parked to the north on Woodward without issue. GL

How were the seats down there? I went to a game and was in the first row of the second level and they were cramped and uncomfortable. The facility is outstanding though

Friend and I are planning a poker weekend in Detroit, likely sometime in June. We will both likely be playing 1-2. Should we stick to MGM and Motorcity or are there other rooms worth checking out? Any other tips?

Only go to Motor City if you want to play anything but 1/2. Otherwise, MGM and Greektown is where it’s at. MGM is the better room overall, I would argue Greektown is the softer game though.

If you’re playing on a day that the Tigers have a home game, you’ll get a good crowd wandering to either casino after. It’s worth noting that Greektown charges for parking on a game day because a lot of fans try to take advantage of the free parking. If you get there considerably before or after the game though, they don’t charge. I’ve also heard the poker room will validate, but haven’t experienced it myself.

If you have a passport or enhanced license, you can head across the border to Caesars in Windsor, although I’ve never played there so I can’t say anything good or bad about it.

Otherwise there’s a handful of charity rooms within 30 minutes of Detroit, but I don’t personally think they offer more than the casinos other than tournaments, albeit poorly structured ones.

Poker room will validate at Greektown. Just ask the desk.

Agree about MGM and GT for $1/2. MUCH better than MCC. No smoke at GT too.

Windsor is a weird game. $1/3. Lots of regs. Lots of bad ones. Decently big small BI tournaments on the weekends (Usually go Sundays). You'll burn money on the toll, time at the border, and money doing the currency exchange back and forth. If the rate is good the rooms and other things are cheap relative to USD. No smoke anywhere.

Myself or Alex has won each of the last 3 tournaments I've played in.

Be sure to swing by duty free on the way back for cheap booze and some Cuban cigars. Crown Royal is a great deal.

Also check bravo to see what's going on. It might not be (probably won't be) worth the hassle of dealing with the border and traffic.

Tigers got hosed on that one. Whatever call was made at the plate should have stood. There wasn't irrefutable evidence either way

I was never taught to slide in the fetal position ... get your feet out there and get to the plate ... or how about getting all the way inside the baseline when you see the catcher move away from the plate! He led with the wrong leg to begin with as well .. should've rotated his hips the other way which also puts your body further from the catcher.

I just 'really' watched it for the first time and I would've reversed it myself as a portion of the glove (basically the knot in the pocket) did move a bit.

I'm a Tigers fan, I've got no reason to try and take away any victory they might be able to snag this year. Hopefully this manager can stress the little basics of the game that seem to slip through players that ooze with talent but their brains lack the game time speed to 'automatically' react.

I put more blame on the glove flick .. know the situation and hold the ball to limit that damage. GL

Someone has a 'golden' MSPT ticket ... Yes, there was one in my Easter basket this morning! But not without drama ... I will try to filter my normal wordiness.

Basically the same size field that 'hamm' was facing .. 16 tickets up for grabs and $880 to 17th. We get down to 18 (or is it 19?) and there's a knockout on each table.

1) The Floor had just announced that we were going hand for hand the 'next' hand.
2) Floor asks each Dealer for stack size of each eliminated player and determines that the guy who shoved to my left from UTG (with 77) is the bubble boy (only had 12K looking at a 4K BB in the next hand) and proceeds to tell the Players to push their chips to the center and pull out their Player's Cards.
3) As another Floor shows up it's determined that there are still 17 players left, not 16, and both players eliminated are bubbles. I believe a player was away from the table and the original Floor had counted players 'from a distance'.

4) In the mean time, our Dealer has collected all the 5K chips from the table and put them into one pile! (Yikes) Also has a lot of the 1k chips from one side of the table piled up as well.
5) The 'regular' confusion and input from multiple players starts to roll in.
6) Floor asks our table to try and recreate stacks based on what we think we had and they will then go to surveillance to try and confirm ... more blood pressure from players.

7) Floor says they can't just 'chip in' the extra $$ to cover the 'extra' ticket.
8) Player comes up with the idea that each of the 16 ticket winners just pays the shortest stack $10 each .. thus bumping him up to $1040 from $880 .. but no ticket to the main (essentially).
9) Of course one player digs in for about 3 minutes, not wanted to 'cover' for the casino's mistake.

All's well that ends well?
I was a little relieved since I was down to around 24K, but had already paid the 3K BB in the last hand of the level when the double knockout happened. I could pay the 2K SB and just hope that something happened in the next 6-7 hands while paying the 500 ante.

Very good 2/5 table that went all the way through the tournament and was still going 6 handed when I left after 3 AM. PLO was running but emptied out by 2 AM I think.

Need to bust my butt at work and then hopefully off to Milwaukee for some more MSPT 'practice'. GL

What a ****show. I usually praise Firekeepers as the best run room in Michigan. It still is, but man what blunder.

Nice work Alex on securing that Toledo trophy! Great work.

I still feel like I traded my soul for the previous weekends event. Ten way chop chump. Never again!
