Someone has a 'golden' MSPT ticket ... Yes, there was one in my Easter basket this morning! But not without drama ... I will try to filter my normal wordiness.
Basically the same size field that 'hamm' was facing .. 16 tickets up for grabs and $880 to 17th. We get down to 18 (or is it 19?) and there's a knockout on each table.
1) The Floor had just announced that we were going hand for hand the 'next' hand.
2) Floor asks each Dealer for stack size of each eliminated player and determines that the guy who shoved to my left from UTG (with 77) is the bubble boy (only had 12K looking at a 4K BB in the next hand) and proceeds to tell the Players to push their chips to the center and pull out their Player's Cards.
3) As another Floor shows up it's determined that there are still 17 players left, not 16, and both players eliminated are bubbles. I believe a player was away from the table and the original Floor had counted players 'from a distance'.
4) In the mean time,
our Dealer has collected all the 5K chips from the table and put them into one pile! (Yikes) Also has a lot of the 1k chips from one side of the table piled up as well.
5) The 'regular' confusion and input from multiple players starts to roll in.
6) Floor asks our table to try and recreate stacks based on what we think we had and they will then go to surveillance to try and confirm ... more blood pressure from players.
7) Floor says they can't just 'chip in' the extra $$ to cover the 'extra' ticket.
8) Player comes up with the idea that each of the 16 ticket winners just pays the shortest stack $10 each .. thus bumping him up to $1040 from $880 .. but no ticket to the main (essentially).
9) Of course one player digs in for about 3 minutes, not wanted to 'cover' for the casino's mistake.
All's well that ends well? I was a little relieved since I was down to around 24K, but had already paid the 3K BB in the last hand of the level when the double knockout happened. I could pay the 2K SB and just hope that something happened in the next 6-7 hands while paying the 500 ante.
Very good 2/5 table that went all the way through the tournament and was still going 6 handed when I left after 3 AM. PLO was running but emptied out by 2 AM I think.
Need to bust my butt at work and then hopefully off to Milwaukee for some more MSPT 'practice'. GL
