Dennis Phillips is a super nice guy to play with. Playing 5-5 PLO at MGM. He's cleaning up some of regs and not helping out the local Detroit economy :-)

Had Dennis on my left for a while at 2/5 NLHE earlier. Good guy, friendly, and actiony too, unlike some of the other "bigtimers" who've played at these things lately and nitted it up. Hope to see him back whenever MGM has their events.

So, details on the actual room expansion?

My OP was snarky, Dennis and Joe seem like very nice guys. They squeezed a few more tables in and it still seems comfortable. The room itself is infinitely better than MCC in my opinion. The room was pretty full for most of the day. My tables were nitty as I think alot of people were sticking around for the drawings and splash pots. One critique would be the ugly, brown wall they have used to enclose the room. I love that the smoke is blocked from the pits, but the room is sort of tucked away now, which could discourage walk-ins.

MCC BBJ $780k+ The "small" jackpot was $6k, a pathetic $6k. That just tells you that if they had a rational BBJ setup they'd have some buzz, and jackpots hitting at $200-300k consistently. But nope.

Got seat quickly before 6, watched the Floor/List being a cluster**** all night though. Those poor ****s need a Bravo system to manage their tables and seats, beyond the online access of course.

I can usually play 8-10 hours sessions without any hassle, but holy **** the smoke in that place. I feel like I smoked a half a pack just sitting there for 6 hours.

I know we have a few Grand Rapids regs here. I'm going to be in GR first Friday night of October on business. Where would I find the biggest game with the loosest action?

The 'best' room would be charity room, King's @ Russo's at 6209 South Division, near 68th and US131 on the South side. The issue there will be running out of chips by 930 or so (maybe earlier, maybe later). When can you get there? The tables are great until chips sell out and then it goes into tournament mode until all the big stacks combine down to 1 table. If you can play right at 6:00 then you will have lots of fun ... The issue is that the players who are there at 5:00 (end of day charity) will have signed up for the 3 starting cash tables. When their tournament starts at 700 there will be a bunch of cash seats open.

On the North end you will find 1-2 tables at Westgate Bowling, 4486 Alpine Ave by 630 (opens at 430). These tables are usually OK to great depending on who is out that day and not playing at Kings. This room should run all the way to 1:45 AM no problem on a Friday.

There is a 3rd charity room but I'm not going to recommend it to you. That's GR ... unless you want to drive to Firekeepers in Battle Creek (about an hour). Then you will have 1/2, 2/5 and 1/3 PLO to choose from. GL

Anyone hear if Momos is shut down? Rumor going around.

Played there Saturday night. They had changed the name of the place, and also blacked out "Momos" from all of the chips. Something about Momo now had a business that wouldn't be able to be linked to a poker room? Nobody said anything about it shutting down though...

FOP Taylor ( Momo's ) has charity's lined up until October 15th. Don't see anything for QoH II in Wayne though. Anyone know if that got shut down before they even started.

In for 8 .. out for 34 .. watched 24 in rake go down the shoot at MCC. Does that count as beating the rake?

Only near miss was TT v 66 on TT6 .. 9 .. 9 at a 2 5 before I got there. Plenty of quads going around but no set v sets. GL

What is PLO action like at FK?

When does it usually run?
Detroit Quote

FK 1/3 PLO (match the stack) runs every Thursday and Saturday regularly, most times there will be a feeder table as well. There is a PLO tournament on Thursday. It can run on Mondays or Fridays depending on who is around. The action can be extremely high depending on who is there. They were actually running a 5/10 ($250 cap per street?) PLO last Thursday but the dealers were indicating that the 1/3 game was playing bigger. Both games had a list through midnight last Thursday.

I would say that there is a core group of 20-25 PLO players there and some games will have as much as $20-30K or more on the table. There is a mix of super nits and action players ... so it just depends on how the list came through that day. The game is usually up and running by 400 or so.

Can you make $$? I think so if patient and I think the l/r PF needs to be used a bit more often than you would like. Some regs will check it down with each other and most will RIT if you ask. FK will RIT, but only HU. You must show your cards to RIT as well. The match the stack option WILL be used by 5-6 of the regs, including reloads when felted.

Just like any other casino, players will load up both the PLO and 2/5 lists which can cause some issues with a 2/5 table almost breaking to start a PLO game on Fridays. Not sure why they don't do more RxR but it's rare. GL

FK PLO is a great place to make $$$ once you become familiar with the player pool. Some of the better players will introduce more variance to the game if they are stuck/drunk so don't be scared money if you get deep and it starts playing a little high.

I was told a reg re-bought for five figures a couple weeks ago to get un-stuck and managed to do so. It's a fun game.

What's up, guys?

My name is James, former poker professional. I'm looking for a staker in the Metro Detroit area for live cash and/or tournaments.

I've sold a bunch of stuff in the 2p2 marketplace before without issue including a 30k score.
Had a very successful online career, profiting roughly 300k.

Hit me up.

What's up, guys?

My name is Turd, a finance professional. I'm looking for a staker in the Metro Detroit area for live cash and/or tournaments.

I've never sold stuff in the 2p2 marketplace before and therefore never lost a dime for any of my backers.

Had a mediocre online career, losing roughly 3k.

Hit me up.

Hey all:

Motorcity Casino has a bad beat jackpot of about $815k now. That is by far and away the largest I've ever heard of or seen in person. The requirement is that quads are beaten by quads. Each player must have a pocket pair.

When I left the room at 2:30 AM, the action was still going strong.

They have games running 24/7 now, and not just 1 or 2 games....During more normal hours the room is packed. Lots of people chasing the bad beat.

Anybody know of/hear of a larger bad beat?

Tomorrow, PPA’s executive director, John Pappas, will testify in support of newly introduced legislation in the Michigan House of Representatives to authorize internet poker (iPoker) and other forms of internet gaming (iGaming).

The hearing is taking place at 10:30am on Wednesday, September 13th. With your help, John can convince these lawmakers to pass a bill this year. Can you spare just 60 seconds between now and tomorrow to send an email to your representative. They will be at the hearing tomorrow and need to hear from you before John Pappas testifies.

This is the first time the Michigan House of Representatives has ever discussed legalizing iPoker and iGaming. Please step up and support our efforts in Michigan by letting your lawmaker know you care.
