Definantly half of that 08 game was the old school Greektowners who travel to the best game. Didnt play but Greektown seems to be getting better. I remember the old days...............ruff

The only two rooms that I know have 2/5 regularly are MCC and MGM. Haven't played in them, so can't say more than that. Of all the charity rooms I've been in, never seen 2/5 and if they have one at certain times it is usually one table round by round with PLO (like Snookers).

Are there any particularly good spots to play live 1/2 wrt. rake in Michigan or neighboring states? I'm between work right now and wouldn't mind taking a drive to grind 1/2 over the weekend if the rake structure is better outside of the immediate Detroit area, but I haven't found any sort of easy guide comparing the Detroit casinos to other MI casinos to Indiana casinos etc.

Yeah I play in the mgm game from time to time. You're right about round by round being the usual 2/5 game running at charity rooms. I thought I heard snookers running a 2/5 hold em game.

hammond indiana is without a doubt the best casino in the midwest and better than most vegas casinos too. They have 46 tables and every game you would want. check the thread somewhere in these forums. If you have a choice you really should go there

Talked to Don, the floor at Snookers, last night about a 2/5 nlh. He said there has been interest, and he will likely try to get one going soon.

Hey all, it's been a while since i could try to keep up, had to get a desktop. Now just need a better internet out here in the boondocks.

Omaha8A2 the pod casts are a great idea, i was trying to think of something similiar but i am just not that computer/intranet savvy. Come down to Northville when you want see a real room (shameless plug).

The omaha games in the charity rooms seem to only last a short while. Ours was going every thursday for months...but then i think the money starts to dry up. some of the players would cash out $3000 and up. the 5/10 limit omaha8 was at MCC and now went to Greektown which is nice because your 3/6 limit players are playing in it. Pillsbarry likes his limit poker,,,much better thatn teh 1/2 nl luck fest.

if you all get a chance, check out the website, all of the May WSOP Mania tourneys are in there, finishing with a big buy-in heads up tourney.

Awesome, thx for the info regarding Northville! Registered online for 3 of the events, except the rebuy. Really looking forward to a live heads up tourney.

Yeah, I was up at Northville on Friday and saw the heads-up tourney. Do you have any details for that? It didn't say much on the board.

Went to Northville Downs last night and Pillsbarry mentioned $5000 stacks and 15 minute levels for the heads-up tourney. Single elimination so you better run good.

Mini TR: Played for the first time at Norhtville Downs last night with steeser. When we got there, we actually got to meet Pillsbarry who just happened to be there at the time. He introduced us to the room manager, Jeff, who was very professional and got us seated right away. Steeser, was gracious enough to give me position on him as we sat down at the same time next to each other. I had never played at a racetrack before, and it was very interesting to me how part of our table had betting forms on the table and was watching the racing action on the screens over the tables instead of paying attention to the poker game.

There was a tournament going on at the same time so several tables were full of players and a couple of cash games going. I had very few hands of note. One hand there was a player all-in, and three players in with him on the flop gave me odds to call an open ended straight draw. I think it was a mistake shoving all-in on the turn into an empty side pot when I picked up an eight high flush draw to go along with my straight draw, but oh well. I did get the other two players to fold, and I hit my flush on the river to win the pot.

Steeser had an interesting hand where he flopped broadway, made the nut flush on the turn, bet all the way and still got paid off by a baby flush. We both tried to run bluffs against different opponents that went badly. In mine, early to mid position raiser pre-flop continuation bet into a 9 high flop. I was pretty sure the board did not hit their range, but failed to realize that they were short stacked, so after my re-raise I was shocked that the player 3-bets me for $20 more and is all-in. I sheepishly call with two overs and lose to pocket 7s. Yes, some times I am a donkey.

Hoping this is not too long!

I played at Northville a few months ago and I found Jeff anything but professional. There were 2 players at my table, one was a regular and the other wasn't, and they were arguing back and forth. It got so bad that the floor came over told both players that if they don't stop they would have to leave. Then the new player says something again, and the dealer calls the floor over. Jeff raises his voice and makes it clear that it's his "last warning." So then a few minutes later the regular starts saying some stuff about the new guy when he wasn't paying attention and the dealer just ignores it. So I tell the dealer to call the floor over and nothing happens at ALL. I tell Jeff, "I think it's wrong to threaten the new guy that if he says one more word that he's gone but if the regular says something you just hush hush it off." Then Jeff just blew up. He started yelling, "WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?" and a bunch of other ridiculous stuff. I just ignore it, not really trying to get in an argument. Haven't really gone there too much afterwards.

Had fun, too bad we had to work today as the table was juicy.

I'm pretty sure there is a lesson in there about running bluffs against unsophisticated players. Maybe one day I'll understand that.

That or sometimes the players overthink things and call light, plus who likes to fold at a charity room...I don't.

I'm the prime example of fancy play syndrom/huge donk that overthinks things. That's why depending on the day you sit at the table with me, players either think I'm the 1 2 version of Tom Dwan or just a huuuuuge donk.

(I'm starting to think the second one is the truth, especially since I busted my pathetic excuse of a bankroll at 2 5 and blackjack at mgm two weeks ago. )
