How is the room in Naples and what were they spreading? I'm gonna be in Ft Myers around the middle of next month and plan on checking out the room...
Happy New Year to everyone as well!

When I have been there they had $1/2 and $2/5 NLHE and PLO spread. They had $3/6 limit PLO8 today. They have high hand jackpots every two hours and once a month $1,000 hourly HH jackpots - you have to be there early to get a seat on those days.

Players typically weak and every time I play they has been someone at the table shoving loose and rebuying several times in $1/2.

Daily tournaments.

The room looks like a dog track.

Happy New Year everyone! Hope everyone is having a good time tonight.

I played the 7:00 tournament at the electric stick last night, 200 runners, largest field I've ever played in. Will try to get a TR up soon... too many deep to attempt this now. Best of luck to everybody in 2012!

Raise to 20, 5 callers i have J8s(always suited) Flop was AJ8, check around, turn blank, tilt guy fires $25, i make it $75, he shoves for $135 total, i called boat on the river,, he had a pair of tens.

Took off at 4pm, came home cooked up steaks and poured a glass of wine.

Happy new years, everyone!

Played 1/2 and 2/5 yesterday at MCC. As predicted, won early lost late. 1/2 table was good, lots of fit-or-fold players calling big bets preflop and folding to my continuation bets. Ran good. Then got called for 2/5. Won a couple of hands early, but then got 3bet when I had AK oop. Weird stacks sizes too. Not used to bet sizing at the 2/5 stakes. I guess I will get used to it eventually. Play was more aggressive but not that solid. Way less mistakes obv. Lost another hand after that against short stack with AK<Q9.

Went back to 1/2 to lick my wounds, and ran JJ against AT, flops a ace. Lost another hand where it got checked through on a KK3 board with two hearts. Turn is a heart and I bluff oop with the ace of hearts in my hand get called. I whiff the river, and it checks through. Lady show KT. 1/2 is so much easier.

Frank,

Not exactly the same, but a big hand I played last week with AK oop.

Anyone familiar with Trip Kings Poker Room in Canton? Before the place opened (~1 year ago) I got to see inside and it looked really nice. The high stake table (2/5) had its own room with a fish tank as the window to the other tables. Haven't had a chance to see it since it opened and am considering a trip soon. Just wondering how the place is doing.

I play there pretty often (usually once or twice a week). It is conveniently very close to me, I started playing there in July. You are right about the 2/5 table being in a separate room with the fish tank window. Thing is, I don't see the table running very often, though, I'm not there too often on the 'hot' nights (fri/sat). If that is what you are looking to play, I'd recommend calling ahead to see if the game is going to run that night. They have a 1/2 game going pretty much every night from what I have seen. Myself, I have only played the tournaments there. They are smaller buy-ins compared to other rooms, but I enjoy playing there. The room seemed to have transitioned a bit a few months ago, but has since settled in to pretty good floor/staff IMO. There is still a dealer or two that is chattier than I'd like, but overall I have been satisfied. They just refelted all the tables, have pretty good food/drink, nice cards/chips (though I'd like to see some larger denomination chips past 5k in the tournaments), some solid players but plenty of fish. From what I can tell, general attendance still seems to be growing. I am planning on playing the 4:30 tournament there tomorrow; last weeks' had about 50 runners.

Yeah, I think it is one thing to 3bet with AK oop, than to open and get 3bet oop with AK. Specially if a 4bet will make a continuation bet pretty much an all-in.

So the mother-in-law dragged me down to MCC again last night, even though the wife wants me to give poker a break, she agreed.

I get seated at 1/2 and notice it is a nice passive/weak table, only 2 aggressive players. i pick up some small pots and have $250, when this happens.

Hero in the sb with AdQd raises to $17, two aggressive villians call. flop is
AAQ, two spades, wooot,,i slighty panic, wonder if we can get bad beat,,we cant, and smooth check....vill #1 bets $50, vill#2 calls,,,,i shove..............................vill one tanks,,,hard............calls with AK...vill #2 folds............................................. .................................................. .................king hits on the river,,,, i lose $500+ pot,,,meh

I switch tables a little later on after continuing to get second best,,,,i grind my my back to break even for the night. maybe i should have stayed home,,,,,,,,,,
(shaking fist at mother-in-law)

Intro time.

Forum lurker for awhile... Moved back to Detroit after a 6 year absence. Played religiously at greektown before I moved, now back and could be considered a reg there.

Played at MCC for the first time today (50-200). Is it always that freaking busy? Played for a couple hours, ran into some other regs and a dealer from GT. Did well, ran good, made some hero moves. Cashed out up and now nitting it up in front of the tv.

Probably done with GT for a bit. Had a punch thrown at me the day before new years. Some drunk ass/loud mouth that I didn't verbally back down to... glancing blow, glad I noticed it coming because the dude had a good size advantage. Big floor dude had him out before I even realized what was going on.

Anyways. See some of you around. I'm usually lurking in a black hoodie, talking entirely too much at the table. I'm sure I've played with some of you already.

Thanks. I'm here waiting and nothing is more tilting than waiting for a seat and watching the guy ahead of me on the list buy in for $40.

A. When your waitress tells you that the game looks boring and we're just passing money in a circle.

Its not worth playing the wed game anymore. Im starting to understand though why the game is run limit rather then potlimit. More action and more people jumping in with weak holdings.
Brass tacks.

Let's make a decision and move it to Cada's next week. It'll give us a chance to inform the people who do show up. We may need a new organizer. Someone that'll be reliable and won't be annoying when they rally folks.

I don't think the problem is pot limit vs. limit, per se. LO8 rewards people who have some level of sane hand selection, hit their cards...and that's about it. Because PLO8 allows you to bluff on occasion and getting quartered can be serious business, it's much more of a skill game. The real issue was that the table was short handed because we ate all the fish.
