Good series coming up only 4hrs away in Lawrenceburg Indiana at the Hollywood Casino.

I would play the events below, but the buy ins ($800), the gas ($200.00 got a gas guzzler), rake ($45+$55=$100), and hotel ($200) would be $1300.00 with out food and drink so add another $200 on the tab so $1500 to play $800 worth of tournys seems really pricey to me. How do you tourny players afford to cover these crazy costs over the buy-ins and rake, if you don't cash and place well? I am mostly into cash games, just looking for some advice because for $1500 crap shot I would rather go play 5-10 or 10-20 nl at MCC or play black jack, bc that just seems like an insane amount to play there knowing its really really hard to win a tourny, and very easy to get card dead and KO'd at any time....

Fri 11/11/11 • 12pm 1b No Limit Hold'em (Deep Stack)(375KGuaranteed)(Re-Entry) $300 + $45 30 mins 20,000 Details

Sat 11/12/11 • 12pm 3 No Limit Hold'em $500 + $55 40 mins 10,000 Details

I would maybe carpool or something for a day trip or something...

Done with Snookers. Plus a bunch of other bull**** there.
Just wow.... I live 45 minutes away from snookers and this right here keeps me from wanting to make it out there anytime soon.

I usually travel with a partner and split hotel/gas cost 50/50 and last time I went to Hollywood Casino in August for the Indiana State Poker Championships they had a free buffet for tournament players.
They have alot of rooms with double beds less than $40 near Hollywood Casino (Days Inn, Comfort Inn and some Extended Stays etc)
The tournaments I like start Monday Nov. 14th
$235 Bounty
$235 6-handed
$235 Heads Up
$345 Deepstack

I called quality inn, and comfort inn they are $109 for fri, and sat night. Unsure what the weekly rate is???? The casino wants $329 a night for the weekends and like $100-$150 for the weekdays, but they have no pool or hot tub lmfao at paying that price. How does a hotel charge that much and not have a freaking hot tub or pool. I asked the lady on the phone if they have an elevator, and she was like yes why won't we... I said, "Well because you don't have a pool or hot tub, so I gotta ask because implying you have something like the pool area that you don't have would be really ridiculous right?"

Its almost as bad as the Detriot Casinos, they don't have pool areas either. Whats wrong with these places and they are to cheap to not have a pool area for guests. What if you have children or wanna relax after a long day of playing or your wife doesn't like playing, she could take the kids to the pool and let them play all day...

I dunno I might play the HPT at Soaring Eagle instead that's in two weeks I think, Got a few comps and a free place to stay, and rooms are $145 otd also there pool area is on point!!! They have a ton of satellites $65, $85, $120, and $360 so I could get in to it for cheap maybe or play in the cash games if I brick a few satellites (hopefully I hit the first one haha)....

Are you the hall monitor? People are talking about tournament structure and what makes a good structure. One person specifically mentioned the Caesars structure and I made it known that Northville has one very similar. No reprimand necessary or deserved!

PS... I AM a poker player.

But seriously, people need to simmer down. It's just that there has been a lot of talk about different rooms and you have to admit some of the stuff definitely sounds promotional.

I personally don't mind if the different rooms come in and talk about their tournament structures and offerings as long as it is not pure spam. If it's part of the discussion and what not, I think it just adds to the thread.

But please, if you represent a room, no bashing other rooms. It's annoying and not good for Michigan poker.

and anonymous shills are really discrediting to their cause because there are plenty enough options around to be able to cut one room out of the rotation on principle.

Obv Snookers management, right?
If Snookers wants to keep the poker customers they need to adjust the structure a bit. This can be easily done by making 30min blind increases and adding a few levels after blinds 500/1000
600/1200
700/1400
800/1600
1000/2000
1500/3000
2000/4000
3000/6000
4000/8000 etc....
I have been going to Snookers 3 times a week lately to play tournaments and usually stay for the 2pm and 7pm tournaments because its a 40min drive. But if Cada's Room is offering better tournaments (more poker less all-in-fest) then I will take my play to Cada's along with many other players I'm sure.
Nope I dont work at snookers but i enjoy playing there, as you must also. I go to Snooker's to play and Don has been in both of my room's.
I have my own Poker Room' in Burton and Port Huron.I cant play in my own room's so i go to other room's to play. I actually wish the other rooms luck, but there is a right way to do thing's. I just wish they all took the high road. I did it the hard way Started out with 7 players and built it up over the last 4 years. Going into other room.s and trying to stir player's for your own room is bad is etiquette, so is throwing flier's on cars in their parking lot.

Service is great ( waitress near tables at all times) They have some of the best dealers around ( I guess that is why the new rooms go in there to try and hire them). (Train your own like we did)
It never fails when a new room opens they want on go into the busiest rooms around and spread the word about how good their room is gonna be. Also when a new room opens the Rumors start about other room's closing. As for Snookers and 5 star lanes closing that is a lie. They are both here to stay.
The 5-Star thing is real, they did get raided and are being investagated. I talked to a guy that was there, state inspectors and local police were there.
We all know what has been going on at 5-Star, it was only a matter of time.
Guess you dont know all Al!

As another poster already stated, Snookers denied closing the last time it happened, then closed for 10 days...

Hammond was really bad, played almost everything and didn't make dinner break once. I do remember seeing you at one point outside of the venue the first weekend, I would have come up to say hi but I think I was really irritated at having no chips or had busted so didn't want to come across the wrong way.

That series looks pretty good, but I'm heading up to mt. pleasant for the HPT and wouldn't want to go down there without playing the main, which is when the HPT main will be upstate.

so you can't run it twice in an AIPF when the table is more than 8 handed. all other spots you can though. assuming they don't double rake and **** like that I recommend trying to run it twice usually

Jose, what kind of turnout is expected for that hollywood series? Any idea? I may try to make it down to one of the events if it draws a good crowd. 375k gtd. and the 6max look fun.

The series Hollywood Casino ran 2months ago in August had a great turnout and their Event#1 was a $345 re entry with only $250k guaranteed. This series should attract a bigger field with Event#1 guarantee at $375k
Here is a link to the last series tournaments and turnout.

http://www.pokerpages.com/tournament/schedule5115.htm

Hollywood Casino is in Indiana right on the border of Cincinnati Ohio and Florence Kentucky, each only 15-20min away. When I went in August we reserved a room w/double beds at Days Inn Florence for only $40 ($20each) unfortunately after my buddy busted Event#1 he decided to play Craps because I was still in the tournament. He blew his poker buy-ins and since he drove we had to leave. My only question was, "We drove 4hrs to play some good poker tournaments, why play Craps?" seems silly to me since we live 15min from 3 casinos that have Craps tables running 24/7 I don't think it makes much sense to drive 4hrs there and 4hrs back for 1 tournament.

I really wanted to spend a weekend at Soaring Eagle playing the 10-man Single Table Satellites into the $350 Mega-Satellites. I think for $80 top 2 win and for $120 top 3 win. My buddy said last time HPT was at Soaring Eagle he grinded those and made some serious cash. Here's the link for the Soaring Eagle satellite schedule and buy-ins:

It's time for someone in the Detroit Tread to bring a title back!

The more I look at HPT schedule and structure, the more I dislike it. I remember when HPT was at greektown, I went to just play cash and there was no action at all.

That Indiana series looks pretty nice, though. Especially if its possible to get $40 rooms in florence.
