Per some 'general' phone calls this morning ...

MCC .. Open Wed at 10 AM with both poker and sports book. No information on whether poker will be short-handed or not. Hotel 'should' open sometime next week.

MGM ... Open Fri at 11 AM with NEITHER poker or 'gaming'. No official date on the hotel but they are taking reservations for Sept 1st and beyond.

So interesting that the governor is clamping down on the (public) state but since the tribal casinos have opened with some success that we might as well get the revenue stream back up and running that the casinos provide!

Not sure if I will be venturing down there or not. I think the rooms will be flooded with Players from all over ... Ohio, Chicago and who knows what types of controls will be in place other than to enter the facility. GL

I see that Toledo is open too, but without poker. Haven't been keeping up on outbreaks down there, but haven't heard anything about cases being linked to the Tribal casinos here. So maybe it'll be fine?

Any word about Greektown?

I've heard of some home games running bascially non-stop this whole time that have had outbreaks and people testing positive. But not a peep on the news about that.

I'm not thrilled with the idea of rushing back to the tables yet. Partially because I don't want to deal with the extra protocols, and partially because I haven't played in a while and am rusty. But then again everyone else will be too, so maybe it's worth getting a hazmat suit and donk hunting.

Havent gone, but the free press reporting said no poker at any of the casinos under this phase of reopening.

no answer by calling the poker room number ... pretty much means the people answering the phones didn't know what to say or were just saying what they needed to get folks headed that direction. GL

Spoke with one of the poker supervisors at MC and they are not reopening their poker room right now. He said they’ve gotten no info at all about when they might reopen the poker room so I am expecting it’s not going to be anytime soon.

I got an email today from Motor City casino that the poker room was opening back up in a week, details to follow. Anybody have any info on the details, for example, number of players at the table and if there will be plexi glass dividers or not?

Be interesting to see if Mgm follows this move....

I received the same email, curious about details

I assume that link is a story about Gaming 'not knowing anything about it' ... and confirming that they would need to be involved in approving how poker is handled in an effort to comply with the existing CV19 requirements. GL

The announcement was premature. Motor city won't be opening up again this week.

Yea. Once the gaming commission gets involved you can kiss it goodbye. They are the most drag your ass commission there is. Probably will be months. Same reason they were never able to get a good tournament series in Detroit, too much red tape by the commission.

I heard rumors they were aiming for Thursday the 17th. Who knows what will happen. I don't see why they wouldn't be approved to open if they follow all the safety guidelines for poker like other casinos in the US have adopted.

Why do you think all the open rooms are following the same guidelines?

The guidelines if any are set but the regulating agencies and they vary from no poker regardless what steps are taken to no guidance. In some places there is t even a specific regulating agency so the room does what they want Within general state or local guidance. I think Detroit is currently in the no poker allowed group.

edit, that last link has a lot of info. I feel like this might get a gazillion players, since it's the only tournament around. Wonder what the cap on entries is...

It says 'first live event' so it may be just that .. brand spankin' new.

Where are they going to get Dealers?
How are they skirting Gaming?
Who's going to rat on them in the middle of Day 2 and get it shut down?

It must be a charity event since Chicago Charity Rooms 'is' operational right now in IL. Not sure how they are escaping the public magnifying glass ... but it's a pretty good indicator that casinos in IL just aren't interested in getting poker going just yet. GL

I heard Eric, formally MSPT-Eric, is involved with this new tour. I think that's a good
sign if true.

Would suck to drive 5 hours to find out it's not a go for some reason.

Any real poker player would happily sit at a 9 handed table and play poker without a mask or any other restriction. Its asinine to intellectually masturbate about this virus that nobody has a clue about. Sit your ass at home and **** your pants if you dont want to play or work. Soo ya hopefully live poker returns yesterday.

They plan on having (and streaming) cash games on Wed and Thurs. If there's a shut down in sight it would probably happen on Thursday ... saving you the drive!

Chicago Charity Games has been hosting cash games in IL for over a month now, so if they have applied for that type of license then the chance for a 'Gaming' issue is low. IMO it would be the local health department stepping in for the hotel violating a IL social distancing mandate. BUT if CCG has been hosting games, then that bridge has been crossed as well.

With 'MSPT' Eric involved you should feel comfortable with the IT side of things, but he most likely is a hired gun/employee only. The Poker News article made it sound as if there's 2-3 people involved in developing an App and this has spawned from that process.

Someone told me that they only need about 110 players to meet the PPG ... suggesting that the rake is around $150 per entry. GL

The structure sheet lists- $980- prize pool, $100- entry fee, $20- staff fee.

So when is Detroit actually opening up rooms?

Ohio has been extremely annoying in getting anywhere with live poker.

Why would anyone play a Michigan only online poker? That's seems absolutely awful. Be much better off just on ACR or Ignition as awful as those are.

Also, a couple weeks later and no poker at MCC once the drag your ass commission got involved as I predicted. Shocking.
