Charity cash games have the lowest variance I've ever seen or heard of anywhere, at the expense of (generally speaking) poor security and poorly enforced rules.

I'm thinking of getting back into the scene. The variance at casino 1/2 is starting to break my brain.

Holy Smokes ... insert long holiday weekend and this thread explodes!! Interesting stuff to be sure. Hopefully MCC takes care of it's business somehow. WPT coming would've been a major crack in the door for Detroit area poker.

You never really know with charity poker. A general assumption for a large metropolitan area would be that the draw is folks who don't want (can't afford, no car) to drive into the casinos or Players that may have been kicked out or had previous behavior problems in the casino or on the way home (drunk driving, speeding). There is a fine line for charity rooms on how to maintain order and yet not drive away the business they do have in order to survive. I've stated many times that these rooms either need an owner on site or they need to take care of their Floors beyond the assumption that tips will carry them to happiness. GL

Looks like 20-ish Michigan Players made the money in the WSOP ME (1286 paid). I think I only saw one of the Sterling Heights 'crew' that seems to have had a decent series. The freeroll qualifier from Gun Lake made it through with 300K in his stack for today. Good for him since technically he loses money (and time) if he had busted and the runner up in the freeroll got like $4K day of ... so well done!

There are at least two other decent stacks from WMich as well, both have above average tournament experience with one taking down a FKeeper $500 before. Obviously super tough to follow anyone unless you are in their text/instagram loop or they get a post from the live reporting. The excitement continues ... GL

Is anyone playing this on the 20th? So you can buy in for different amounts based on when you enter the tournament?

Just seems like a weird format for a tournament.

I'm sure he wouldn't want any of this happening and would look into things on the video tape (but probably needs to know soon because I doubt they keep their security video for more than a week or so).
Thank you for taking the initiative on bringing this to the owners attention. As a woman reading this forum, I would pass on this establishment because of sexual assault being ignored or tolerated by the floor (grabbing a woman anywhere, much less her breasts constitutes an assault and is criminal behavior).

The owners should be aware that men and women players find these disgusting and lewd incidents appalling and will find other establishments to patronize. How is it that he is allowed to continue this obnoxious behavior? Legally, the owners become complicit if their floor are aware of it and do nothing to stop it in its tracks. Their licenses and their pockets are up for grabs if any woman is assaulted and they do nothing. Thank goodness for casino surveillance. They will have proof provided by the defendants.

Looks like 3-4 from Michigan still in the remaining 110 or so at WSOP ME. They were all pretty short so but that can change in a hurry, especially after a nice nap! GL

PS ... They better hope that the USA folks pick it up. For a short span the top 15 were all from 'out of town' yesterday. Not good for TV ...

Not sure, he’s added a lot of stuff since it was released at $15 though. If you already had it, you’re grandfathered in. Some stuff I’ve noticed is info on BB ante and reshove spots.

More interesting news from the Detroit poker scene this past week. Two long-time players in the Detroit casino poker scene were caught texting during the middle of a PLO hand last week and after a bit of time, both were removed from the poker room by numerous security guards.

Long story short, player sitting between them saw the texts being sent and called attention to it. While both players tried to claim innocence, obviously security saw enough on their cameras to remove both players. One of the players had recently been allowed back into the casino after almost a year long ban for threatening a dealer (after he lost a hand of course).

So yeah, another interesting week in the Detroit poker community.

As far as the text collusion goes:

I've always wondered if area casinos share information in regards to cheating.

Great, so there are two guys that got kicked out of one room for cheating that you can't identify ITT but might be sitting at my table this weekend.

I was under the impression that casinos often shared information for blackjack card counters. But I have a hard time seeing the Detroit casinos sharing much of anything with they way they're being run.

If you have a problem with the forum's privacy rule then complain in the Moderation Discussion thread. In the meantime, it's not as if you can't PM Goud21 to find out who they are or anything.

Is the Griffin book still around? My information might be outdated. In the past an MGM property would share with another MGM property but they would not share with Caesars and vice versa. Locally around here, casinos do not share with each other with regards card counters. That was the case years ago at least.

It's getting to be pretty universal that you can't touch your phone with a live hand. Not that we don't want to catch/know who the angler/cheaters are, it's a pretty simple way to eliminate at least this situation.

After all the good mojo from I-94/I-96 Players at the WSOP (another FT yesterday) this is hopefully an insignificant blip.

Yes, a quick DM and some 'heads up' given to the MGM staff would suffice here. I would rather know who they are and then just watch them at the table. I've said before that I don't mind (not condoning of course) if a couple of Players are working together since it usually means a nice triple up of sorts in the long run once spotted.

A couple of years ago two Players that I know of were tapped on the shoulder at Hammond (Blackjack) and told that they were banned from the pits 'at all properties' ... limited to slots and poker participation only. Interesting that it probably cost the casino(s) in the long run since both Players gave pretty big pit action, in a lot of cases dumping all poker profits on the way to the car, so to speak. Perhaps both are better off now as a result? GL
