Near the intersection of Plymouth and Levan (the southeast corner in the L shaped shopping center). They're basically opening another version of the Players Golf and Poker that's at 8 Mile and Farmington. It's going to be bigger though to have room for cash games and tournaments.

I haven't heard though what days it'll run. Last I heard they were considering Sunday-Wednesday, but nothing was set in stone.

They're also done with Wintergarden at 7 mile and Farmington. I haven't heard yet, but I'm assuming that Wednesday night Omaha game will be moving to the new place, but I don't know for sure.

Trip Report for Golf North Poker, or something like that, at Levan and Plymouth.
-Located in the strip mall there, in the corner.
-Super nice looking room. 10 tables. New paint job, lots of big tvs right in front of your face while you're playing. The tables/chairs/chips/dealers are the old ones from Malarkeys. They are going to eventually get all new chairs/chips, not sure about tables.
-No alcohol as of right now. They are putting in a bar soon, they already have the liquor license. Bar will serve some food, not a lot. They will have pizza brought in that is supposedly really good.
-Days open now are M-Th. When they have everything set up it will be Sun-W.
-They are going to have golf simulators. $35/hour non peak hours, $45/hour peak.
-Everyone that played at Malarkeys was there last night. 5 tournament tables and 2 cash were running at 8:00.
-Couldn't tell you specifics about cash, but their tournament schedule will be the same as Malarkeys. Last night was rxr. Structure was bad early as usual, but late I couldn't believe how much play there was. I got knocked out at 12:50, and there were still 4 left, about 15 bbs on the table. That is unlike most charity tournaments these days. (Let me sneak in a bad beat story... shoved 4 bb in omaha sb vs bb. I had 4589ddss. Bb woke up w KK88cc. I flopped 2 pair and a straight flush draw! He went runner runner flush.)

The whole set-up sounds very similar to Players (where Doc’s moves to at 8 and Farmington). Players has fewer tables because they don’t run any tournaments, but it’s good to know the new place will be running tournaments and cash.

If it’s like Players, the food will leave a lot to be desired. Pizza, chicken wings, etc, etc. Basic bar food they warm up/cook in a small oven. Not a full kitchen by any means. For a while Players was letting you bring in outside food, but once they fully got the bad running they cut that out quickly.

To add to my other post, I also know the guys running both these places are trying to get out of Wintergarden in Farmington, but I haven't heard an update on that and I haven't heard an update on moving the Wednesday night Omaha game. If the new place runs Sunday-Wednesday and Players runs Wednesday-Saturday, it seems like Wednesday night at the new place could take on the Omaha game. The only problem there is I don't know what they run for tournaments and the Omaha game easily runs out of chips in 3-4 hours, so they wouldn't want to burn through chips to run a tournament as well. It'll be interesting to see how this all works out

Life of a tournament reg: Last two tournaments I played, the last two Saturdays... Got down to the final four players in both.
1st one: I was chip leader. Blind v blind against 2nd in chips. I shoved 12ish bbs w 99. He snapped w AQo. Flop 982 rainbow, I lost the hand. (Finished 4th)
2nd one: Shoved pf w/ jj. Called by 66. Flop 10JK rainbow. I lost the hand. (Finished 4th). That one was in my league and it really screwed me as far as making our final table.

I believe that first one is the worst beat I've had.

Running J10 in the first one and running 66 in the second one???

Running quads has to be more rare than runner-runner flush/straight type beats. But there could be some ICM considerations when it comes to the league play and points that had a bigger effect than just losing the one hand. GL

I must say that the HH promos at MCC are somewhat confusing without your Google calendar handy. Leave it up to me that when I actually do get back in there that they wont even be running for those hours I'm there. GL

They change every month (and it's all listed in Bravo).

But, the HH promo has killed what used to be the best room in town. Ok, maybe not killed, but it's hurt the poker room for some of us. The room is swamped during the HH promos, but if there isn't a promo going, the room is a ghost town compared to the old days. You used to be able to count a 2-5 game running all night, but now it dies by 2 or 3 and is lucky to start before 10 AM. The players come in earlier to get a piece of the promo and then disappear within an hour or two of the promo ending.

It also means there's barely one 1-2 game going in the early morning these days. For those of us that loved to play at 5 AM and catch the drunks who are still sobering up, it's really killed the morning games

Yep ... Got the email but the post is gone ... Best to avoid naming names in threads. Although it's always fun to discuss 'top X' lists, tying those names to stakes (and session cashes) is probably not a good idea ... even if this site allowed for it. GL

I saw the post and was like WTF is this guy doing outing all these players..... That was a pretty funny first forum post and way to introduce yourself to this thread. I wonder if mods just deleted it and warned him or if they gave him a time out as well?

some new guy's first post was basically outing all the good winning 2/5+ Detroit regs by name and physical descriptions. The only one that I knew of on the list was Brent B that used to vlog so he had already outed himself but I am sure all the other guys he listed don't want someone outing them to this thread.

I simply deleted it. I'd warn/tempban if he did it again, but I tend to give a chance to get the hint taken first.

Also, I only stumbled upon it because I happened to open the thread. It would be great if you guys would report posts like that when you see them, especially since there are only 2 of us now.

Hahaha...as somewhat of a 2/5 reg (though more a PLO reg), I'd kind of like to see someone's opinion and see how wrong he was

Button straddles are now allowed just on Omaha at Motorcity. There’s talk of expanding it to other games in time, but gradually (probably starting with 2-5 No Limit and higher for hold em games). Apparently when Tony asked a number of his regular 1-2 players, a large portion were against it but he’s pushing on with it because players in the bigger games have been asking for it.
