well i assume people would do what i did, plan to stay for the entire month of the promotion so theres only 1 drive up and back instead of multiple, and split the cost of the hotel with a friend for the month. so at 350 a week divided by 2, thats $25 a day and a very short commute about 8 miles to the hotel everyday. up about 2900 in the first 2 weeks, and 2 more weeks to go.

HAHAHAHAH.

Yea, I'm going to take a month off work, sleep in a hotel with another dude, and chase BBJ money. That sounds like it's totally worth it.

well since this forum is for more serious players instead of the occasional recreational player, but instead for the 50-60 hour a week player who makes his living off gambling, i wouldnt expect many people here to have jobs. theres so much talk about tourneys and promotions in here, i would think its filled with people who will get up and go anywhere at any time.

You horribly misunderstand who's in this forum, or on 2+2 in general.

I wonder when sevencard will read his posts and realize what a horribly thin equity decision he's making when it comes to the BBJ.

Now, I'm assuming the games are good b/c of the giveaway, and that makes a difference to your hourly. But how many live pros do you think live in MI? Then, how many don't have any responsibilities outside of poker? I think the population is pretty small, and most of the dudes I know are betting the amount of equity you're chasing on a halftime line of some random NBA game.

I don’t think he will ever realize that, just as he doesn’t realize that martingaling your buy ins makes zero sense. This would require a basic understanding that not everyone travels the country with no responsibilities to play 1/2 NL. I have to admit I’ve been glued to his blog though. Pure gold.

This. It's probably 80% recreational players and 85% losing players and more like 95% recreational in this sub forum.

Maybe 85% is too high. I wonder what percent of players are long term winners?

Pretty impressive to manage to do that and not blow your brains out.

:raises hand: 10+ years. Winning overall. Pretty steadily too.

I'd expect that 85% is too high. Based on the stuff that I read around here.

Just some notes on Turtle Creek ...
1) They have a 'special' call-in number that starts at 8 AM ...
2) Twice a reg Player from there 'finally' got through at about 814 AM ..
3) He was 16th and 24th on the waiting list ... all the tables were full already
4) The Players at the tables were 'amazingly' all 'higher up' rewards members that wouldn't have given the poker room a 2nd look 6 months ago.

The 'hope' is that these folks blow through their 'bankroll' for poker and start to drop out of the daily grind these last couple of weeks. I don't have any information beyond what I was told last Thursday.

One of the 'winning' hands was an Ace high flush beating a King high flush.

I certainly had visions of sugar plumbs in my head when this first popped up. But with the 'mystery' phone number to call one might not be able to get in the hours necessary to make this a profitable venture. You should be able to steal your way to daily profits since most of the table is sitting on pairs and connectors ... but beating the system to just get a seat is the problem. GL

This sounds absolutely awful. I can’t imagine anything worse than going 3.5 hours to chase BBJ promo money with other people who are just chasing the same while playing 1/2.

the truth is, getting a seat is very easy if u sign up in the pit at 8am and then return at 2pm when the poker room opens. they take the people in the pit waiting at 8am first before they take the phone calls, and theres usually like 10-20 who sign up in person to be sure of getting a seat. lots of people who try to do it by phone have a hard time getting thru

yesterday i got my 2nd players share when our tables queens full of 4s held up. the guy who drove us here from detroit is getting a bit tired though of having to wake up before 8 every morning, drive us here from our hotel to sign the list, then return to the hotel to try to go back to sleep til 1.15 then return again to the casino at 2 says its a pain in the ass doing so much driving and split shifts. this is why some people try to get thru on the phone

also i have a very hard time believing it will clear out on the number of players, usually players never quit unless the high hand to be beaten becomes like kings full or aces full, then they start leaving every day, all 6 tables got quickly fillled at 2 with a big list.

You should learn how to drive, and buy a keyboard with a shift key using all your BBJ monies.

This 8am, wait until 2pm, makes this seem like an even *worse* prospect than it already did.

Follow the money tho. 7card is net up hundreds of dollars after weeks of up bright and early for a 8am pit convo, daytime grunge hotel sleep, back up at 2pm, KFC, hard 1/2 grind, late night eats(KFC isnt available....give me 3 gordito crunches!), late night nap for a few hours, rise and shine, rinse(maybe) and repeat. Who will be the one laughing when Black Friday rolls around and he waits in line for 7 hours to be the 6th person into Bestbuy to pick up a $350 50" 4k TV, and a wireless keyboard!

Just got back from my weekend trip to Detroit. Working on some vlog footage now, but here is some info for the thread:
- played exclusively at MGM, now that the 2-5 there is consistently running and with fairly good action, I don't feel much pulling me to Motor City
- the 2-5 at MGM now runs (almost?) around the clock
- the 1-3 PLO at MGM also runs pretty consistently. even on Monday it was started up by ~2pm
- both 5-10 NLHE and 5-10 PLO ran on fri/sat/sunday nights although I think the 5-10 NLHE only ran for a few hours (not sure exactly). I also saw 5-10-20 PLO on Saturday night with some huge pots.
- the saturday 220 buy-in was a soft field but superturbo structure

happy to answer any Qs

Sorry ... Don't do links. Looks like YouTube is mispelled as well (Youtu.be ??) ...

What do we search for if we get directly into YouTube and want to find it? GL

The link is legit, but the video title was "The heater begins . . . | Scott's Poker vLog Ep. 7". It's alright. 17 minutes, mostly hand breakdowns with some street shots of Detroit. I skimmed it.

That's just YouTube's automatic URL shortener. When you click "Share" on a video, it spits out a shortened link.

search for "scott's poker vlog" should turn it up.

2 quick questions...
What's the latest on the WPT event at Motor City
And any info on Malarkeys closing and moving to strip mall on Plymouth and Levan?

heard Malarkeys had a new spot, haven't heard exactly where.

In case those interested didn't know, the goofballs over at Casino Windsor are running a $1k this weekend. Two starting flights- Fri @ 415, and Sat @ 215. Day 2 starts Sun @ 215.

Of course there's no good info about the trny to be found on the interwebs, so I called them up and got a bit.

Start w/ 20k in chips. 1st 4 levels are 30 min, then I believe all following levels are 40 min. Day 1 plays 12 levels. Forgot to ask if it's BBA, guessing not with these clowns. Also didn't ask what the levels are, but from last bigger event I played there, I know they're reasonable enough.
