Doesn't the court have a set lot for you (and reimbursement)? I've been pulled for duty in Indy and GR and both had lots to park in specifically for the jury pool.

Is Greektown actually charging for parking during the week? Or have others been taking too much advantage of their garage in that area?

If you've never had JD you're almost certainly going to be there most of Monday morning while the courts/judges figure out how many cases will actually go to trial that week and start to divide you up. Hopefully you get picked as part of a Monday pool (70-80 per case) and then 'not' picked for the trial. You'll then be done for the week in most cases. Sometimes your pool will be picked but you'll have to come back on Wed or Thur for jury selection. That could be a very short day, so a pain to come report just to get sent home. GL

Depends on when you show up. I've tried to park there at 8am and hop the train to Cobo for work conferences and been asked to pay. Same for days with home games.

Greektown only charges during Tigers games, or has that changed? Otherwise parking there at 8:00am should be free.

I've heard that they charge during football games, not sure. They charged when there were Wings games. They charged the night of the Metallica concert last year. They charged in early April between 8-10am during SAE congress. Sometimes my card gets me out of it, sometimes not, but they 100% were charging at those times too.

No parking lot for the courts or jury pool. No reimbursement. Jury duty pays $30 for the first day and $45 for subsequent days. 20 cents a mile from your zip code to theirs. They say to park in the E-Z Park parking lot across the freeway ( I-375 ) from the Greektown garage. Show your jury summons for a $3 rate.
Last time I was down for this I was excused at about 11:00 A.M. and ran down to Greektown and hopped in the 11:00 A.M. tourney ( prolly 2010-2011, original poker room where they gave away free card player magazines ).

You might run into 'just' 5/10 on a Saturday, but the 5/10/20 is pretty regular on Fridays .. with a short feeder table or list. (It's expensive to leave the table!)

I've really never been at a 2/5 that played like 5/10, even when the 'main' game gets deep and some of the players are part of the 5/10 pool. GL

Yeah I should have been more vague. As far as I know, unless there’s a major sporting event/concert/convention, Greektown is free.

Elderly man beaten and robbed in MGM Casino Garage

Quote:
...........

An avid poker player, Kimbrough hit the tables at MGM Casino on Saturday walking away with several hundred dollars.

"I had $475 and $200 more that was in my pocket, that's $675," he said.

When he was done, he took the elevator to the 6th floor parking deck, and another man walked in too, that's when Clearance knew there would be trouble.

"The reason I knew there would be trouble because very few people go that high to the 6th floor, this guy didn't press no floor," he said.

The guy told him it was a stick up, but Clearance didn't see a gun.

Please be safe people. Try and park as close to the entrance as possible. If someone does seem suspicious, don't be afraid to ride the elevator back to the entrance.

It sucks too because leaving a casino, there's 0% chance of a victim having a weapon.

assuming they follow the law....

Anyone know if any of the Detroit casino security offices have lockers and allow you to lock up your gun there so you don't have to leave it in your car and walk to/from the garage without it?

I thought about that, but then realized it's a huge liability.

Also:

I have heard some casino's have lockers for guns, possibly hollywood cbus IIRC.

I agree with you but most law abiding CPL holders don't want to run the risk of getting a charge for carrying concealed in a casino (and lose their CPL) if someone notices it so they don't carry inside.

It could work, didn't mean to come off as totally dismissive.

Knowing Detroit I can't help but imagine races to the lockers for who can draw first

Manion is primarily a 1/2 charity player at the Muskegon room. I believe he found a backer of some sort for the ME, entering via his 2nd Satty attempt out there. He also recently finished 21st at the MSPT at FK for about $10K. I may have played against him at FK or charity in GR, but I've been told he basically sticks to his home room and FK. He was a Dealer somewhere, I assume in Muskegon.

It seems that the road to a ME FT from MI must include some Dealer time (Cada, Reiss). I'm not sure if Dean Hamrick was ever a Dealer ... Jeff Gross certainly was never a Dealer. GL

PS ... I would reconsider that Ferrari in Muskegon, even if he can garage it.

Greetings from Manion City. I read that he had 95K in official cashes. Who records this if he doesn't play the big tournaments? Do the smaller circuits (Heartland, Mid Stakes, etc.) record and post this information? Does a Heartland cash get reported to the Global Poker Index or whoever else tracks this information?

I'd never reconsider a Ferrari if you can afford it

Hendon Mob, records all the circuits and a lot of the California/Vegas daily tournament results.

So interesting that Cada would jump into another tournament after a huge ME score. I wonder if there's some other motivation here behind the scenes. He commented on Deeb being 'too far' ahead to warrant going to Europe in Sept but for a guy who remains pretty low key the rest of the year he is truly maxing out his stay in Vegas this Summer. GL
