Dude I hear you on the venting part, especially some of the atrocious players there, at times the floors only seem to make things worse.

The room has faults as do many others, but if you can have a good day via variance Derby is a gold mine.

Monday 1pm 60+15 10k / 4pm 40+10 4k+2k / 7pm 60+15+5 6k+2k
Tuesday 1pm 60+15+5 8k+2k / 4pm 40+10 4k+2k / 7pm 200+2+(5 or 10) 10k+(2k or 5k) player appreciation tourney

Haven't played cash games there in almost a year, it used to be $80 max so if nothing's changed yea. Yes the rake is hilarious. 14% rake in a cash game in a pot of $50.

Stick to THR's 1/2. The 1/1 is a nit fest. As someone who has played both extensively, it's worth the drive to play in Tampa.

The 1/1 usually plays small with no action. Lots of min buy-ins for $40. Very few players will top off a stack so you have players with $11 in front just waiting to go all-in and go home. Very few preflop raises and I almost never see a preflop reraise other than a micro stack all-in. Hands usually go to showdown. Friday and Saturday night most everyone limps $1 to see a flop because of the $100/$500 high hand promotion.

Derby Lane 1-1 No Limit: $40 Min; $80 Max
Rake:
$1 @$5-$10
$2 @$11-$20
$3 @$21-$30
$4 @$31-$40
$5 @$41+
Jackpot Rake: $1 @ $10, $2 @ $20
I play often, and am thinking of moving up to $1-$2 No Limit because the relatively high rake/pot and short stacks at $1-$1 makes the game a bit less interesting.
The atmosphere is typically congenial between all involved. I agree with Atomic's comments.

Any chance of uploading a structure sheet? Is there a guarantee?

As far as structure I would believe it would be similar to the FL Millions.... Derby rarely deviates from its structure, but generally.speaking its the best in the atea. I know it will be 40 min blinds. I do not believe there will be a grantee but there are no satellites or high hands for the tourney, according to the supervisors. I also believe there is a 10 dollar add on for 5k more make starting stacks 30k.

Does this place offer any PLO8, PLO or O8? Or is it just strictly Stud and Hold em?

From time to time plo is spread. Harder for the 1/2 plo than 5/10.. that's going off more consistent. For o8, there used to be a morning 4/8 to 5/10, but haven't been in the mornings for awhile.

Just wondering about the 2/5, 5/10+ action regularly? Min/max buy?

How deep do the games normally play? And how is the rake structure?

Thanks in advance.

2/5 buy-in generally 300-500 occasional 600 max player. The buy-in is 2-600. Rake structure is 5+2; the 5 is rounded up from the first dollar so 11 will take a 2 dollar (crappy for many reasons, but most players don't know/care) and 2 dollar jackpot is taken at 10 and 20 respectively.

5/10 from what I've seen most players start with about 1k and reload often. Buy-in is 4-1500. But that's only observation, I'm not rolled for the game yet.

Both run everyday, but the 5/10 does have times or even a day or two when it doesn't run... Typically Sunday the slowest day.

Alright, thanks. I will probably be checking this place out. I don't like live poker but I guess that is the only option now and this place is only about 15 minutes from me.

Your options in st. Pete is Derby. However 30 min drive you can reach The Silks at Tampa Bay Downs in Oldsmar, Tampa Hard Rock off I-4 and orient rd. And Luckys at the Tampa Greyhound Track off 275 and I believe bird ave. Just so you have all options available to you.

Yeah, I have played at the THR but don't feel like driving all the way there.

Derby Lane recently made pamphlets of their rules and they are available to anyone who asks.
They are called or are based on the TDA (Tournament Directors Association) rules but many of the rules apply to cash games. The most notable changes to the cash games are
1. If there is an all-in situation and action is complete, all players that have not folded must turn over their cards.
2. The I Want To See The Hand rules still applies, but the floor must be called since it is a "privilege granted by the floor".

I like the second rule since I think it will result in fewer players making requests. It's usually the same few players who ask anyway, and now they will be noticed and maybe denied. It's true that this slows the game down a bit, but it's worth it in the long run in my opinion. I don't want to derail this thread since there is already a thread for IWTSTH.

From what I gathered from chatting with the dealers, most live poker rooms are now moving towards this uniform set of rules.

I heard they are trying to get a 10/20 limit HE game here on Thursdays at 6pm starting this week. Supposedly there are 30-40 people interested.
I have played plenty of 10/20 limit before the NL days and have no interest in playing limit. I am just passing on the info.
