Masks are now optional as of Tuesday...come on down. Don't pay off the nits still wearing them

Now that certainly adds another dimension to the game...you could deliberately wear a mask to increase your good bluffing opportunities...Derby Lane Poker Room (Tampa, FL)Derby Lane Poker Room (Tampa, FL)

I love the full frontal facial nudity. Very liberating. Also, tables are 9 handed now. Though I actually preferred the 8 handed thing, I was hoping that would remain. But thank God we're done with the masks here. Silks will be the same soon as well, according to an email from their manager to employees.

Let's hope Hard Rock Tampa follows suit, but I doubt it

Yes, was there last night...Hard Rock currently has all their COVID-19 protocols still in place...temperature check coming in, masks required, plexiglass dividers, they wipe down all the surfaces when a seat opens, hand sanitizer every time you come back to the table.

And they're often short-staffed, so sometimes you're left waiting for awhile before they get around to cleaning a seat and railing before they can even mark it as open to be filled.

THEN you have to further wait for someone at the brush stand to call the next name on the list.

Sometimes they're quick about it, but oftentimes they are not.

Any idea when hard rock is going to life these requirements? Seems like Vegas and most places already did. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense for that to continue.

Probably best not to derail this thread and post in the Tampa Hard Rock thread instead:

For those who haven't heard, be advised that Derby has changed their promo mid-month for June-- now, out of the blue, Fridays and Saturdays do NOT count for hours in the 60 hours for $699 promo. Pretty scummy move. I guess the amount they'll save by not paying out the players who can't complete this promo now is worth their honor and integrity and a business. Pathetic.

Yeah they were saying they miscalculated the budget for the promo. Their management has been terrible. Terrible decision by them. I mean who runs a high hand promo from 10am-noon and 8pm to 10pm. Who makes these decisions?

Also, if you had points in May on your card for food/bevs their system is pretty dumb. Order food, get receipt, Take players card to cashier with receipt to get another receipt. Take receipts back to waitress.

Such a weird poker room.

holy sh#t! if i were giving up my saturdays to play here for that promo i would be PISSED! isn't there a regularity commission that is overseeing these poker rooms? i didn't even go for this promo but this makes me angry.

Always read the fine print.

Got an email about August promos. It has one called "prime nlhe" and says it's 1-3 nl. It lists lots of things like $500/50 hours, 599 hh, and others. Says good all business hours.

My question is: is this for all the regular 1/3nl games, or will only certain tables be designated as prime holdem tables?

Oh, it's valid for all hours? That's awesome. Until they decide to change their promo stipulations a week or so into it, with no announcement or notification or apology anywhere, like they did last time. Oh, and the prime game is small stakes with time rake, which is a joke.

So it's 1/3 nl w a time rake? Do you know what the rake is? I havent been there in a long time. The regular 1/3 isnt time rake now, is it?

The problem isn't that it's time. The amount is $10/HH plus $2 a hand for the promo. And no guarantee to get service fast enough to make it worth the free drinks. It's just a bad deal and regs don't want to start it.

Am I understanding the mailer for Prime NLHE correctly? A $65 dollar pot is raked $7+$3 (rake +jackpot rake)?

That's ****ing rape. I'm surprised they don't charge time rake on top of it too

7 rake + 3 Promo drop each on hand that is more than $65,Wow! that is between $200 and $300 an hour. Man that is a steep rake. Heck, after 6-8 hours, everyone could be down their initial buy-in. I thought where I play (Shreveport LA) which has a 5 rake + 2 promo drop per hand at $50 was steep. Makes me really appreciate Johnny Chan's 88 Social in Houston, TX. in which the time charge is between $8.00 and $12.00 an hour depending on how much time you buy.

The prime comps were reduced mid month (again). I’m going to out myself to anyone who was there because this tilted me

I check PokerAtlas. I’ll play couple hours get a meal maybe stay if the game is good and playing bigger to outrun the $10

No waitress taking for the first 30 minutes but that’s not too out of the ordinary for Derby. I order a beer, that’s still comped. I put in my food (Braised Boneless Short Ribs, which is excellent) and she comes back with the bill for my $16

While I’ve been waiting for this I won 3 pots. One raise to $15, 1 caller bet flop took it down. They took $6 I kept $27. I raise to $20 got 2 callers bet flop take it down. I raise to $20 3 callers, bet flop take it down. Still haven’t been able to put in a 2nd beer order

The nittiest floor there is working this night (Any reg knows who that is). He said I couldn’t get it comped. I show him the app and complain about bait and switch paying $10 a pot for nothing.

His first argument was “Do you see anyone else eating” No you bait and switched them too but it’s FL people are going to keep playing”

His second argument was “It’s only $10 a hand if the pot gets to $60, not every hand” He must not be a poker player. If the pot doesn’t get to $60 in that structure that’s even worse.

So then they bring out a terrible. Some guy was trying to defend nit floor, saying free burger were good. Ive seen someone order the burger and it’s the most disgusting looking thing on the menu

They brought out the “hors d’ouerves” and they tasted like they’d been sitting under a heat lamp. I only got a pack because someone else didn’t like it, and after eating one I didn’t either. So at $900 an hour across 3 tables they cook up one batch of some of their cheapest **** every few hours and have the waitress offer it when someone complains.

You basically have to cooler someone or win a big flip to have a chance to come out ahead. The typical passive Florida game where many people see the flop and play fit or fold, maybe chase a draw or two pair for one street, is going to get annihilated. Especially since they kept the min at $100, a lot of the worst players still are sitting with under $200 and it’s hard to outrun the $10.
If 9 people bought in for $100 without reloading, the entire table would vanish in under 3 hours

Are the games better because nits won’t play? They were already pretty damn good at $5+$2. And it’s Derby, all the same players as before including some of the tighter ones.

Derby Lane reneging on a promo offer mid-month? How out of character. Why anyone gives them their business is beyond me. If I lived across the street from Derby, I'd make the drive to Silks or TGT or even the damn Hard Rock.
