Derby is the only room in st. Pete, probably be a 30 minute drive from where you are. Not sure what that translate to cab wise in terms of dollars. No trolley goes there and bus schedules are at www.psta.net. From SPB you will most likely have to make 1-2 transfers. Hope that helps

let me know
I'll keep it in mind. But I'm pretty sure someone isn't going to pass down free rake if they're doing the tournament anyways. Would be a donk move to not take $30 free.

Probably going to head down to play in the mega stack tournament this saturday, perfect way to end the stress week of finals.

Anyone played it in the last few months?

I played last month, 7th place out of 168 iirc (mini-brag). I do not play tournaments and only played this because I was told there are usually 200 runners. Apparently Derby has been giving away less seats, partly due to the FL Million 3 and other promotions. Talking with the dealers they said it used to get 200+ but it has been steadily declining over the last few months. Solid structure though, 30min levels and no bad skipping of levels either that you see with some 30min level tournaments. I think I busted out around midnight.

Thanks for the info, you roughly remember the payout structure?

Relatively middle heavy. Iirc 1st was like 8500, 7th was 2k. So 10x buy in minus vig for 7th with only 168 players.

One of the main reasons I like the middle heavy structure is for tax purposes. In this tournament $5,200.01 is auto-taxed, so more people at the FT make more money without paying taxes. If I were final 3 I would have set up a three way chop for $x (~$4600) and the remainder up to $5,200 is what we would have played it out for.

:-). Well, did you make the money at least? Karma caught me when that spewer called off his chips with middle pair and caught trips on the river for a nice 30-40k pot. Was disgusted.

Not going to be much content here other than to say that Derby Lane is absolutely the worst non-Foxwoods poker room I have ever been in (and, in Foxwoods' defense, I was only there once, so it could have just been a bad night, whereas Derby is consistently terrible).

Wow, that comment was incredibly insightful. Did you perhaps want to expand upon this comment. Like, what makes this the worst non-Foxwood's run poker room? Or how many rooms have you been in to justify that comment? I'm just curious, because I've been to many rooms run MUCH worse than Derby Lane, so definitely curious.

Hey guys. Just letting you all know / reminding those that read my past post a few weeks ago, that I still have a $400+$30 ticket for this months "Show Me The Money" tournament that is for sale. I'm going to Miami that night, and will probably not have time to play in the tournament. Rays Marlins series folks! :-). Anyways. The ticket is for sale. Will not charge the rake. $400 even for the ticket. If you know you're playing in this tournament, it would be foolish to pass the rake up like this. PM me if interested, and we can get this done.

I will meet whoever wants to buy the ticket at Derby Lane, so we can transfer the ticket right there on the spot over to your name. I've spoken to the management, and they said I can sell it if I want. Just have to inform them of the name of the person I'm selling to, so they can update their records.

Thanks guys.

Hey guys. Only about 36 hours until the big $400+$30 Show Me The Money Tournament. If anybody wants to meet up and buy a tournament ticket to this for only $400, let me know. Thats a rake free entry fee. I won the ticket in a bounty tournament a few weeks ago, and am looking to sell the ticket as I've stated previously. I've had a few slightly lower offers, but am looking for $400. PM me if interested and I can meet you up at Derby to do the transaction in person tomorrow evening or the day of the tournament.

I've spoken with management at Derby, and they told me I can sell the ticket to whomever. PM me if any questions.

Have they been giving away as many seats as normal for the last Saturday of the month $230 tournament? Last time I played I think it was 168 which seemed light compared to the other times I've played.

Has anyone played the WSOP main event satellites here? From what I read on the tournament calendar sounds like a pretty good structure.
