Delaware Park reopened for slots yesterday. Is there any indications on the timetable for when poker will come back and if so what changes might be expected (limiting # of tables/players per table/everyone gets microwaved to ensure no coronavirus/etc.) at least initially?

Does Delaware Park do any card status matching or give any great signup bonuses for new customers?

People ... there's a whole FAQ section on their website that lists answers to most of these questions! Why do people refuse to look there before they ask all these questions in here??? It's pretty simple research!

However, since this is a poker thread, I will say that Phase 2 of the State of Delaware's reopening is scheduled to be June 15th, at which time the casino anticipates opening poker, table games and possibly sports betting, according to their website.

Now, will that happen? Who knows, but it definitely will not be before that date! I'm thinking June 22nd at the earliest if i had to guess.

Their FAQ which I will actually link below only says "Live table games and our Poker Room will be closed at this time, but we’re anticipating opening both amenities in phase 2" which does not address my questions which is why I asked them.

It also doesn't say the June 15th date, it just says Phase 2.

Fair point. It did not answer your poker specific questions. Perhaps they will put something out addressing those when they get closer to opening.

And regarding the June 15th date, I was just going by what date the state had released regarding the beginning of Phase 2. The casino may choose to do something entirely different!

So Delaware has been in Phase Two for some time now, Maryland poker rooms have been opened (and didn't close up at any point) for a while, and on Monday both Philly poker rooms open (reopen in the case of Rivers that previously reopened for a bit before Philadelphia shut them down).

How much longer before Delaware Park rejoins their neighbors to the northeast and southwest and reopens their poker room?

Heard this is a Governor issue. Dover downs & Harrington are itching to open poker again also.

It's crazy that Delaware Park is surrounded by casinos that have been open for months but there's still no indication of when - or even if - they are bringing poker back.

with chester closing your room, you would think they would do well if they opened

Looks like their Facebook page was updated with some info about Poker Room.

Not sure why it took so long, but the room is finally reopening on June 15th!

Wow, I had to edit this post after scrolling up a bit through the thread. I posted in here around a year ago regarding Delaware's "Phase 2" guidelines for reopening and that date was June 15th of LAST YEAR! I had predicted a hopeful opening of June 22, 2020. I was only off by a year! Ouch!

I must not be looking in the right place on Facebook, but if the room is reopening on Tuesday, I’ll be there. Way better than the ride to Perryville or Philly Live.

The lack of posts in over a year here makes sense since the room is a shell of what it used to be.

I made it out yesterday and played from around 11 PM until they closed for the night.

Although most blame the lack of running 24 hours (they close at 3 AM every day) I think the biggest issue is the lack of tournaments. That was always the room's bread & butter. Even if they were not great at retention (or whatever the casino term is for having tournament players play cash games) the room always appeared busy with all the dailies. Now it's a handful of tables in a huge room counting down until floor calls for the last orbit at 2:30 AM.

It bums me out because I have a lot of solid memories of playing and working there and they managed to retain most of the floor staff who are some of my favorite people in the industry after they reopened.

I asked some of the people working there what is the betting favorite to return first: tourneys or 24 hours. The reply was "neither." It seems to genuinely be a staffing issue. They probably could get enough dealers for tourneys, but maybe not. And even if they did, they are understaffed for cage personnel (the poker cage is evidently never open and players have to buy chips at the podium) and security.

I will still drop by when I can but since I often played their tournaments or late into the evening after getting off work in Maryland since it is right on my commute home, the opportunities to do so are infrequent.

Is the 5/5 PLO game there worth a 1.5 hour drive when I have closer options in MD? People have mentioned this game and I am considering a trip.

Players have said that this is definitely one of the best PLO games on the entire east coast! Although it's billed as 5/5, it plays much, much bigger at certain times depending on which players are in the game.

On another note, it's nice to see this thread getting a bump.

Just like other rooms that were affected by the pandemic in various ways, it's good that this room survived and is running again. With the lack of tournaments, the cash games have obviously increased and the room has a very comfortable feel to it. The high hand promos are very good and the "hours played" promotion is probably the most generous in the country - check the Bravo app for more info. Also, while checking the Bravo app, I've seen 2/5 games running rather consistently from Wednesday through Saturday, and they have a nice "no rake" promo for their 2/5 game on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Solid room that has always been underrated, and definitely deserves more attention!

I asked people who work there what would come back first, tournaments or a 24-hour poker room and they mostly just sighed at me. I am not sure either of those things are coming back any time soon.
