50,000 starting chips..... 60 min blinds......550 buy in (I may be wrong on this point as it could be $500) and BEST.....a 100K guarantee payout.

Satellites will run all day August 19 for people coming in. I'll make sure I play with that group on Friday and if I'm on a heater or simply a good cash run, I'll buy a ticket.

I like to concept of an Ironman and once again, it's something new and different presented by DP....it's the kind of innovation that I've come to expect.

Maybe a tournament such as this will get some of the DC, NO VA players up for an over night
structure sounds great, but i just can't do any more of these rush tournies with minimum breaks... personally, i just don't have the stamina for them anymore. for you younger/energetic players, good luck - sounds like the best structure around for your money.

Haha. well, I sure don't qualify for that "younger" group. But, one hour levels with 50K starting stack, 25/50 level 1 is hardly a "rush". Of course, I am a poker degen and have stamina for the game for some odd reason, even considering my age. I must admit to a big crash after a long session.

I talked to Anthony today about the Ironman and confirmed that it is $550 buy in. The vig is $40.00 plus $10 with $500 going to the prize pool. That's a really decent rate for the players considering the long levels and big $100,000 guarantee. It seems at the $500 + events, you'll almost always pay $500 plus 50 plus 10......if it's a reasonably raked room.... more if not.

I want to play this tournament, but I doubt my level of play will be equal to the normal player that enters $500 plus events. Regardless, I don't care for long breaks except for meals and don't normally get up from the cash table every hour. In fact, it's irritating to me that tournaments usually stop the clock as often as they do. Breaks are overrated IMO unless you are a smoker. Nicotine fixes are quick at DP considering the vicinity of the outside doors to both rooms.

i doubt ill play the 20r again... but for the love of god add a 3k/6k/500 level... we hit the 2k/4k to 4k/8k jump with like 16 left on sunday and 13 paid... would have been nice if there was at least some play left... id guess the biggest stack when we hit 4k/8k had about 20bb

Can you confirm that there will be a 25/50 level? In the 1k ME of the Delaware Poker Classic it had 50k stacks but the first level was 100/100.

Something for Anthony and K2 to think about.

Presently, on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, DP gives away 10 free seats for the noon @ a 65.00 buy in. Instead, I think it would be great, if in the first weeks of August they gave away 1 free seat to the Ironman (or an equal $$ amount to the satellites) on those days at an hour likely to allow "regular work" players to be in the room. They could also give away a free 15K Saturday $150 ticket costing DP slightly more than the $650 (700) to place ten players in the noon event. Perhaps a good time would be 7:30 before free seats to the 10PM are awarded and in time for the 7PM registration to be locked in at level 2. That may affect what I sometimes do during the week day mornings, but players with a day job are locked out of poker at 9 to 10 AM and can't play for those because of their work. Actually, I'd certainly (if in town) go play on the those evenings to try for a free "Ironman" seat.

Or how about this. Ten free seats to a sattellite to be played the next night at 8PM. Winner gets an Ironman seat. Second gets $150.

I am sure they give away these free seats to boost activity during off peak times not to make it easy for people that come in during the peak times. Some of the suggestions people make dont take into consideration the reasons the casinos do things in the 1st place which is to boost attendance to their casino so they can make more money.

Only two responded that they were able to play. The thread itself is lightly hit (84) on two plus two and may be indicative of a "burn out" on what was once a novelty game more than a possible regular spontaneous game. Perhaps some of the players who backed that game late last year and early this year have moved on. In any event, it's clear to me that 8 to 9 game mix will be harder to organize in the future. On the bright side, the HORSE game spread again yesterday at Delaware Park, which is encouraging. I'd trade a regular HORSE game for an irregular 8 game any day. I'll reevaluate again later this week, but as of today, the mixed game for this weekend looks like it should be scrapped in favor of HORSE
Has the HORSE been going, and if so, when? I was 6th on the list late Sat afternoon and it didn't get called before I had to leave for work. I called later that night (around 11) and it wasn't going. I think the 4/8 O8 game tends to sabotage the HORSE as well. If it goes regularly on Sat I can always make it after work. Getting tired of straight hold'em.

The HORSE game has gone each of the last three weekends at 4/8, but still rather sporadically. I played in one of the HORSE games a few weeks ago and it was extremely enjoyable, laid back and fun. I plan to be at DP on Saturday rather early at about 1 PM. I'll start a list for both HORSE and 4/8 mix and will play either...or 1/2 NL. I'm easy to please.

Based on a rather unenthusiastic response to a larger 8 to 9 game mix, I'm suggesting that people do not travel expecting to play that game. It may go, but easily as likely, won't get enough players to spread. HORSE will have more interest as 2-7 TD and Badugi are not "mainstream" games. Also, NL/PL games are often to high variance for the average limit person.

Will be there 7/9 around 3:00 p.m. for the $4-$8 HORSE game -

Suggestion - PORSE or (KP)ORSE instead? Hold'em is such the boring game in the rotation! Pineapple or Krazy Pineapple instead -

Kupe

I'll be there tomorrow at around 12:30 and will list both 4/8 HORSE and mixed. The game that starts first is the game that will play I guess. I don't expect either to get under way until 2 or 3.

I went over yesterday and manged to bubble the free seat into the noon which paid 9. Not a total loss since my cost to get in was zero and the final table put up ten bucks for the bubble boy ($100 of which 10 was my own money). I'm living up to my former name.

I did look for the strutcure sheet for the Ironman, but it was not out and K2 was not in to print one for me. Anthony "thinks" the first level is 50/100. I'll post the "real deal" tomorrow night.

Tonight off to a home game.

I'll be heading down to DP today. It's my first time at this room, and I'm looking forward to it! Will be playing in the 7PM tournament, if you see a really young looking kid with red-ish hair, stop by and say hello

This so so cool with 60 minute levels and 50,000 starting stacks. I need to consider my level of play vs the field. ABC poker may work in small stakes fields, but here, I fear it will take me only half way. I really want to play this one.

I'm aiming to put in a few hours tomorrow (Sat) afternoon. I'm up for HORSE but would be very surprised if it goes in the afternoon. Should be able to slide back to DP around 10 pm hoping it would be running by then.

Got down to DP today and played in the 7PM tournament. I was definitely pleased with the room. I didn't see the cash room other than at a quick glance, but I'm assuming they use the same tables/chairs which I liked. I really like the hard rail around the inside edge of the table.

I enjoyed the tournament, but as expected it does get pretty fast after the first two hours. Ran/played well early, especially when I won 6 hands in a row Busted 45/115 unfortunately. Dealers were all good and I didn't have any complaints with any of the staff. Nice room imo.

Oh, and hey Andrew, nice meeting you.

Report from Vegas - having a fun time - the Rio is swarmed w players - a poker convention, international festival and tournament all rolled into one convention center. Fun to meet players from all over the world. Busted out of my entered qualifiers by bad beats so did their deep stack turbo and cashed in 39th out of 612 runners. Have to say that my DP training for DST paid off since I was familiar w the dynamics. Even saw a gal and her mate who have frequented DP's tournaments. I said hello, said I played w them at DP, but they kinda blew me off so I let them be - I beat that guy later so that's what you get when you can't even be courteous!

Definitely worth a try for you all at some point in your poker life. Budget for some satellites and have a great time! The other casinos like Caesars and Binions etc run very competitive series when WSOP is on, cheaper for the chip tourneys so I enjoyed moving
around playing them.

So now I'm prepped for this ironman!

See you later when I'm back!

Finally played in the 4/8 HORSE today (was the guy in the 1 seat from the start). Forgot how slow it moved, and it was a nice change of pace even though the deck was pretty cold for me. Only 1 grouchy dick type at the table, and he didn't stay long. I only took 1 hand in the whole 1st rotation, and it wasn't until the 7s Eight (not going to mention the O8 hand where I flopped nut-nut but wound up getting quartered). Good group, dealers did well, but people walked too much. People came and went, jumping tables quick. We started with 5, filled up with a list, then went back to 5 before I had to leave for work around 4:30. Would play again, maybe next week.

The game eventually got more traction, as it was still running this morning at 4 AM. BBJ hit last night. upside to HORSE.... no BBJ drop.... downside....not eligible for a room share.
