Im also gonna be one of the Dealers here when the room opens up. I haven't heard of an opening date yet but like the other fella said i would look to after mem day weekend. As for the rake it will be 10% up to $4 with a extra $1 badbeat for Holdem only. Meaning $5 will be taken off the holdem tables. They are setting up daily tourneys and i have talked to the guys running the rooms and they will start posting on here and other poker forums once everything is set in stone.

Wow! I can honestly say I am surprised at this. That is the same rake as Atlantic City. Based upon previous experiences with Delaware casinos, I was expecting a $5 or $6 max rake, because to them, it is not about the customer, but the almighty dollar. I am also surprised that will have a BBJ up and running by opening day as well.

I live between Delaware Park and Dover Downs, and 2.5 hours from Atlantic City. Now that Delaware has table games, poker with a rake similar to Atlantic City, and sports betting (I know, limited, but hopefully the Supreme Court overturns the current ruling) I do not believe I will be making as many, if any, trips to Atlantic City in the future. That is a savings of over $50 a month just in gasoline, tolls, meals, and taxes on comped rooms.

Well done Delaware and Delaware Park!

That's really great news, and also sets a good precedent for the other PA casinos that will be opening.

Thanks to both new dealers for posting here. Keep us posted about what you hear.

They are doing a good job of advertising

They have gigantic billboards on I-95 by the tunnel in Baltimore, north and southbound

I live in Baltimore, and I posted in the Charles Town R&S thread that I would be skipping that game due to the 6+1 rake.

Now that I see that Delaware Park will have a 4+1 rake, I will definitely be playing poker there. I can't wait for it to open.

The first "class" of dealers just finished up casino games training the end of last week. I have heard from a couple of sources (but I can not 100% confirm yet), that there will be an invitation only soft opening with play chips on May 25 and May 26, with the official opening on May 27.

While I like the layout and rake structure of the Delaware Poker Room, what keeps me from playing there is that they actually allow their dealers to play in the live games when they are not working. No real casino would EVER allow their dealers to play on the premisis.

What I have also found (whether coincendence or not) is that everytime I play in the game there where normal dealers are playing I get crushed. When they are not in the game, I certainly play better. The place above Buffalo Wild Wings is very nice, but I'll never play there again until they change this policy.

I suspect once DP opens for live play, the Poker Room will lose a lot of its business.

I played in several Arizona casinos that put properties in AC to shame, and they allow dealers to play off duty. The central point of your complaint seems to be that the dealers are better players and you can't beat them.

I don't think DSL will take much of a hit when Del Park opens, since DP will be charging a rake and BBJ drop, and DSL still won't. There may be some players who prefer to play there because there is casino commission oversight, and the game security is better, but everytime I've been to DSL and spoken with regulars, they have no intention of abandoning DSL. Brandon has a good thing going, and many people like it.

I've said it before: I love the idea of allowing dealers to play either on or off the clock. From an old TR I wrote about two years ago...

I think most B&M regs would consider the Commerce to be a "real casino."

Since when is $30 when you take your seat not a rake?

Since a rake is taken from every hand, where a seat fee is not. A rake penalizes winning more than a fee does. At a 4+1 rake, you pay $5 each time you win a pot. If you win 1 hand per down, playing for 5 or 6 hours, this is $50-$60 coming out of your winnings. When you pay the $30 seat fee, it's half of that; even less if you tend to play longer sessions and/or win more pots.

I've read thru the threads and I've seen May 15, Memorial day weekend, June 14th and June 19th.

I know with grand openings nothing is ever definate, but does anyone have a more solid date as to when the poker room will be opened for business??

I live in Baltimore and I'm so tired of that 2.5 hr ride to AC. That AC expressway is the worst!! esp. at 3 AM broke and exhausted :-)

Anyways if any of you dealers or locals know anything more definate please feel free to post it.

Thanks

I've been watching the local news in Delaware, and they have not published anything firm yet that I'm aware of. If I were betting, I would go with the later date as these things always take longer than expected. I am gonna try to stop by there at some point - perhaps later this week - and will try to find out what I can.

All regs not in place yet. As for as concerns About people going to the beach that wknd. What if it rains. Poker players will show up whenever it opens. Remember suns not out at nite anyway. Leaving AC to work here. I really can't wait. See y'all soon.
justdoitpt thanks for the information. If it has been covered, maybe I haven't seen it, but where is the sports book located in relation to the poker room? Just curious, as I live in Northern VA and this is only about a 2 1/2 drive for me. Wouldn't mind playing poker while I'm waiting on the outcome of my Parlay.

Okay, let me clear some things up. I've been told the soft opening is June 10th with a hard opening the 14th. It won't be "play chips" just limited betting structure. Real Money. Real Poker.

For those really trying to justify the DPR's, please. Do you really think serious players are going to prefer those rooms to a legit casino room with tourneys and multiple cash limits? Not hardly. Plus it's going to have the feel of a Vegas poker room because that's where the manager and most of the staff are coming from. It's going to be FULL SERVICE, 11 games offered. AC doesn't even have that.

If you're wondering how I know, I just completed the 6 week school and will be dealing there. This room is going to crush all the local competition. Hands down. I can't wait!

"limited betting structure"?? meaning what? they will have limit games and then open the NL games after the 14th...please elaborate
Delaware Park (Wilmington, DE) Quote

Limited structure as in 1 bet + 1 raise per round instead of 1 + 4 on the limit games. I'm not sure but I don't think NL will be offered during the soft opening.

And, I am sold, not because they sold me, just because I feel it will far and away outclass the poker rooms. You can't even drink at those places. What kinda fun is that?!

steelartist77, please check out B&M Forum FAQ guideline 3. You're welcome to post information about the room until you are officially hired by the room, but once you're hired you won't be able to post anymore.
