Rumor is they are being pressured to justify the existence of the poker room, and show that it can be profitable but are struggling mightily. Also despite getting Bravo several months ago, Revenue has not changed much at all YOY (you can see all NYS casino's poker room revenue on the NYS gaming site)[/QUOTE

It would suck if they closed it.Beautiful room and the only reason I stay there during biz travel. I realize it isn't a highly populated area but they seem to do a good job attracting slot and table-game players by offering free play, free buffets, etc. Maybe the poker room can offer something to bring in more players.

Not sure how accurate this is. They just smashed the guarantee this weekend so they are getting players for their tournaments. They are also doing it being half the size of turning stone's poker room. Though I am sure anytime there is a down month at a poker room in any casino there will be management trying to justify closing it. I doubt they are at that point yet.

This was their first time having a 100k guarantee, but yea in general they haven't had trouble hitting their guarantees on their 50k's either.

You can check their revenue statements yourself - and thats revenue, not profit. Del Lago may be the only room where the dealers are members of a union, which while i'm a supporter of most unions - they do some times result in increased costs for the employer (sometimes justifiably and sometimes not so much). Bravo for 14 tables costs quite a bit (recently installed a few months ago), and to not have revenue go up several months after the fact isn't a good sign

I always thought the purpose of a casino having a poker room was to get people in the door anyways, and hope they find their way out to the slots/pits eventually.

Overall, I liked the big tables that were 9 handed. Lots of space. Chairs were comfy. Action was good and I liked the 100% max buy in. We had about 10k on our 1/3 table with a few stacks over 2k. As a 2/5 and 5/10 player I liked that aspect. Although with that said, no 2/5 game ran last night and I suspect the 100% max buy in rule is why.

The $6 rake is higher than a lot of places which sucks and I also didn't like that the promos ended at midnight during a weeknight especially with them pulling $2/hand for them.

The dealers were decent, but one in particular committed some major etiquette breaches (looking at folded cards who didn't say they could, reaching into a players stack pulling out 3 hundred dollar chips and "raising" for the player with 4 more players to act). The floor was useless in this and another incident that happened around 3 in the morning.

Despite this I enjoyed the room a lot and am really glad that a poker option exists this close to my inlaws. I'll be back for sure next time I'm in town.
Is this a typical night at delago? Do most players keep topping up to the highest stack on table. Is there straddling every hand to get game to play bigger? What is action like Thursday-Sunday? Regulars should not complain about the rake in a game where one can buy in for 3k on 1/3 NL. and have everyone covered. Private games like this charge $20 plus in rake.

the majority of tables are not like this lol, so players have every right to complain about a rake increase. It's far more common to be at a table full of short stackers

Is there a structure sheet for the 100k anywhere? Can't find it on the website.

Thanks for posting this. I would have known if this wasn’t posted. Btw Del lago needs to pick up their ****. I also would like to a see a structure sheet of this event. It’s comical a live casino doesn’t have structure sheets on their poker webpage.

Btw when is Del lago going to be on Hendon mob. They should also list their events on cardplayer I feel. Feel #s would be better bc I wouldn’t know of these events if I didn’t post here.

Ts> Del lago in promoting obv. Will give lago props though for running a 400/ 100k. Was going to play parx big stax that weekend but I’ll take 45 min commute over 4 hr commute anytime and less variance in a smaller field.

Do these events crush the guarantee and do I have to get there early due to lack of tables? I played a daily at lago once and I wanna say they didn’t have enough tables so people who regged late had to wait for bust outs, etc (I could be wrong about this) but it’s a small room.

Meh and is the structure good? I’ve never played one of these bigger events there. I assume it is if it’s 2 days and 40 min levs. I just don’t know what the level jumps are / if they are missing key levels .

I got there early last time and it was unnecessary. The structure is pretty much what you'd expect. The only weird thing is instead of the 1500/3000 level, it's 1000/3000 and 2000/3000 the level after. They remove the 500 chips way too early(because they don't have enough apparently?). It was kind of ridiculous.

This post became instantly hilarious when I got to Del Lago Saturday and see that they give every player 10 500 chips in their starting stack.

How much overlay was there? Wasn't able to make either of the first two 100ks but was looking forward to them continuing to run them. Not good that the second one they run didn't hit the guarantee. Football season is not a good time to run tournaments in WNY, especially when the bills are good.

Also just want to add again that it is absolutely ridiculous there are no structure sheets posted and 0 promotion for these events or for the room in general..

They got 271 players, so roughly 8k in overlay. If you take out the 20 to the dealers, the house actually made about 3k from the tourney (271 * 380 is roughly 103k).

Pretty good for a room that does absolutely no advertising or promoting.

Where did you see this? I looked at their website and didn't see anything posted. Just their usual tournaments.

It's on Bravo. I want them to keep hosting guarantee tourneys but man, Sun-Wed is going to cut out a ton of the potential playing population such as myself.

This room makes such bizzare decisions. They barely advertise any of the tournaments they run. They use nonstandard structures. They start tournaments on a Sunday now? Also the buy in is missing on Bravo. What in the world.

Personally, there is a 0% chance I'm missing work to play this event.

Honestly, we're lucky this information is even posted on Bravo given del lago's history.

It should be all over the website, twitter, and maybe a couple signs in the casino itself? Insanity.

It's strange that they don't do more promotion but maybe they don't want to promote poker in their casino. Or they are trying to get more people there during the week so they run the tournament sunday-wednesday instead. It's a small room so they definitely don't want to interfere with the cash games that normally run on weekends. Still this guarantee seems to be set up to fail.

Just saw the days this tournament is running. I have no idea what they are doing now. January 5th-8th is just after the holiday break for a a lot of companies so most people aren't taking anymore vacation then. This doesn't seem like the best time to try a tournament during the week.

I agree it’s very odd what days they chose for this. I would play a Sunday but wouldn’t use vacation time personally to play some rinky dink mtt in upstate ny.

The structure is solid though especially with 40 min levels. Anyone know the buy in? It doesn’t say on bravo lol.

My guess is $250 or $300. Whatever they normally use for these guaranteed tournaments.
