Not 100% on this but other than the Wednesday tourney, its unlikely to get more than 20-30 people. Most of the time it doesn't even go.

BTW, chip789 = shipdacheese?

The quality of players here are generally poor.
During the day 6 of the 10 players are regulars, and the other 4 are normally fish. Of the regulars there are actually only a few good players.
You should expect about 2 good players who always finish up, 3 players who break even or make a little, and one or 2 losing regulars. Then you got the fish who are just there to try and get lucky and play every hand and feed the rounders.

Notable good players play under names such as
Shaggy, new player "Shipdacheese", Scuba, Jean-Ralphio, and Brad. If you find yourself at their table caution is advised.

If you ever find yourself at a table with a guy named T-Gun, watch out biggest gambler ever. Will donk off 4k in one night and not care, Dejope gets a few of these guys to feed the rounders. Other notable donkeys Kyle K (he drops money fast), Mr. Poker (no one understand what he's doing).

20-30 players is a good size for me, coming from a SnG background. I might have to come out.

Thanks again eliteneo I have been an off an on customer of dejope and recently played there about 3 times last week and who is shipdacheese? Is he a pro because everytime I played with him he was putting moves on people you rarely see.. Everytime I was there he was up atleast 500 and didn't rebuy all but maybe an add-on of 50$.. If anyone knows any more info please let me know because if this guy isn't a pro who hustled me than i don't know what he is .. Thanks

Well it depends on what you mean by "pro."
Being a Professional by definition means "participating for gain or livelihood in an activity or field of endeavor often engaged in by amateur."
By that means than Dejope has a few "Pro's." Take Jean-Ralphio for example, he's college kids who play poker to fund his schooling, he doesn't view poker as gambling but as a source of income. Jean-Ralphio seems to average a 1k a week profit, and when in college you don't need a lot of money to pay your bills. Another such example of this would be a guy named Taylor who is a regular.

Now Shipdacheese seems to be on another level, appears that he plays poker for a living as well. But does it more successfully, with winnings about 5k a week at dejope, massive online success (100k+) won, and played some big home games before. Dejope has a few "hustlers" but the majority are just fish, and poorly playing regs.

That makes sense because he looks as though he's not 21 years of age. Since online poker is currently banned it seems as though dejope is getting a majority of online players because of being an 18+ older casino. Now Jean - ralphio has only been at my table a few times, he seems as though he enjoys the game and takes it very seriously but only is playing as a means to getting through college.. Taylor on the other hand has been at my table about 4-5 times and has been losing more times than not.. But I'm very hopeful to see shipdacheese at my table again, even though he has taken a few hundred $ from I enjoyed watching him play and learning from a few things I saw him do ..

Yeah Dejope gets a lot of under 21 poker "wizkids." I was there tonight and saw Shipdacheese sitting with $800ish, also Jean-ralphio was there and saw him get 2 outered by his opponents for somewhere around (Twice in a row) $600. Guy took it like a pro, didn't even blink, just said nice hand. Also there was one guy with 2k in front of him, and another with 1k. Do these guys have to get hit with the deck to do that? Cause mostly seems like people you never see get that high, and then run with the cash.

How's the turnout been on Saturday nights? I have a few hours free tomorrow evening and really have the itch to play, but don't want to waste the gas if they're struggling to fill a table.

I've been trying to stop by a few times a month and really enjoy the room. And living where I'm at, the 40 minute drive is much better than the 1.5 hours to Ho Chunk or Poto. But I'm not a fan of the lack of players and the players I am playing with being the same regulars who are there every night.

Saturday nights gets lots of new people. 3 Tables of 1/2 NL going, it sucks when you get the the "feature" table because all the bad players are are the first 2 feeder tables because they go broke before they make it to the main table. Main table has the good players, and there are tons of nonregs there on saturday nights.

Yeah I always get sad when my name gets called to the main table lol.

I'll probably stop by for a bit tonight.

Wow. So I went tonight and I so shouldn't have. It was probably the worst I've ever played. I wasn't getting cards, and then I made the situation 100x worse by playing HORRIBLE all night. Gonna be kicking myself for a few days.

That being said, noticed alot of new faces tonight, which is a good thing. A few regs were around.

I wish more people in Madison would give the electronic poker a shot. I know the room will never get as successful as Poto, but it'd be nice to be able to fill up a few tables on Fridays/Saturdays.

I probably won't be back until Friday at the earliest, but after tonight I might just take Friday off and take a two week hiatus(I'm booked all next week) to regroup. My mind just wasn't in it.

Who were you? I went as well. was on the main table mostly. Long haired guy.

Made a bad laydown against shipdacheese early on. Besides that I felt that I played pretty well.

played here for the first time this weekend and actually really enjoyed the tables. i would like to check out the tournaments but i heard that if you cash (even min cash) you are required to fill out a tax form and provide your ssn. can anyone confirm this?

I would also like to play the tournaments - did not go on saturday unsure on turnout. So I did the drive to poto and just played cash. Both locations are about an hour drive.

This is a fact. I cashed for a whopping $31 last month and still had to fill out the form.

The only person consistently averaging $1K or more profit per week at a $1/2 NLHE game with $300 cap, 10% rake max $5 pulled ON THE QUARTERS getting ~45 HPH is Ol' Chief RakesEmDry.

(racist ban imo)

Played a few hours over the weekend and it was pretty fun. Definitely reg-filled, prob 7-8 out of 10 on the main table knew each other. Most of them had a clue but there were def a few regs who were losing players. Will be going back frequently after I learn to drive stick so I can borrow my roommate's car. Also going to try to play some donkaments, anyone have insight into the best tourneys to play here?

Edit: also when I played they no longer had codenames, I guess this changed recently?
DeJope Casino (Madison, WI) Quote

The donkaments aren't really worth playing in my opinion. The only one worth anything is the Wednesday night one about 60 players. The quality of the players are so bad in all the donkaments there it turns in to a crap shoot, or who gets the best cards. You can't bluff the donkeys, and if you don't get good cards before the blinds sky rocket your dead.

@Xkf people still use "codenames" most don't however.

This is actually a really nice room. Would like to play PLO on friday night but only 3 people were on the 1/2 list last week. Come on 2+2's let's get this game going.

A PLO game popped up a week or so ago. It just seems to be hard to get PLO going with how little traffic they have going through there. Most nights are just one main $1/$2 NLHE table and a feeder, so if a few people want to play PLO it will take away a fair amount of the HE action.
