Man, more poker rooms need to be like this.

I'd be satisfied with the few that ARE like this getting better traffic.

Club is spreading 1/2 PLO 200-1000max a lot and 2/5 200-500NL on occasion. Trippers is definitely in decline though...I played there last night (since Club was closed; is 6 days a week now) and a player got into it with the floor manager. Cops showed up, cuffed the guy (who apparently had a gun on him, as police were told). Heard rumors of mugging before in the parking lot?

trippers was always a janky room that only had one thing going for it, being the only room in the lansing area. now that there's reasonable and quality competition they will easily not sustain themselves

I heard that these guys changed to stacks holdem bar. Since BF killed my online action for the most part I'm interested in checking out live. Any word on how the games are these days? Do I have to be 21 to play at Stacks?

That's correct, they changed the name with the addition of the bar and the place looks amazing. Technically it's 21 and up to enter the place because of liquor liability laws, but they're fairly lax on security so you're welcome to see if they'll let you play there (as long as you're not drinking). They're running 1-2 NL a few nights a week on average, and probably the most popular Omaha game in town many nights. They have a group of regulars on a text messaging list for games, so you can get on that if you call in. The low buy-in tournaments (Thursday-Sunday I think) and blackjack have been quite popular in addition to the occasional cash games. All in all, a pretty great hang-out, but the 21+ thing is kind of a bummer given the college environment. (Though technically you're also not allowed outside food/drink in there, but I don't think anyone's enforcing that.)

Is Stacks still open? How is the action?

Thanks!

Not sure about the action, but as far as I know they are still open. I have seen some signs around town advertising their "Casino Night".

Joe.......

Definitely still open, from what I've seen they get an Omaha game running most days a week. They also get a strong turnout for their Thursday night NL holdem tournament, usually 4-5 tables.

Still not much NL holdem cash there, which is disappointing. Seems like they sometimes get a .50/1 game going, but it's hard to beat the rake in that one
