Hi all. I was recently in the area for a family trip to St. Augustine. I went down to Daytona for the Thursday "Real Radio" tourney (65$ buyin-10$ add-on). Thought I'd jump in on a 1/2 game if I busted but ended up final tabling the field of 132 and chopping with six players left. By that time the room was wrapping up for the evening and I didn't have a chance to try any cash games for the rest of the trip. The tournament field was fairly soft. Almost no 3 or 4 betting in the picture until we were down to final table, just calling stations and limpers. Had a good time and a nice cash. Really nice, clean room.

I live near Tampa but will have to spend a full 10-12 hours in Orlando this weekend (dropping someone off at a music festival around 1pm and picking them up at about midnight). It's about a 90 minute drive back home or to the Hard Rock in Tampa but a 50 minute drive to the Daytona Kennel Club and Poker Room.

When I play at the Hard Rock I usually go for a 10 hour session, so it would be a perfect way to kill time. Any comments about that poker room? Is it nasty or nice? Soft games?

They room is very new as it was rebuilt when they moved it away from the speedway a few years ago. I think it is a nice clean place to play and you should like it. It's not as big as the Hard Rock in Tampa, but they usually have several tables going of 1-2 and some 2-5. The games seem about average for a Florida room.

Played there on Wednesday. Nice room, nice staff, good food, daily 2/5 plo8 game...I couldn't ask for anything more.

And, the action is great on weekends.

2-5 PLO8 every day. 5-10 and 10-20 NLH games sometimes run 1/2 PLO but there is no regular PLO only game

Quick question (sorry if it has already been discussed). I lived in the Orlando area for over 5 years and moved back to PA 2 years ago. I plan on moving back to Orlando and was wondering if this is the closest poker room to Orlando or do they have poker at the tracks in Orlando now as well? If so, anyone know the limits, comps, etc?

Depends were in Orlando you live. Most likely the closest is still Daytona Beach Kennel Club. Orlando does not have any card rooms. Probably never will because of Disney. Daytona runs from 1/2 to 5/10 almost every day. Occasionaly they will have 10/25

Was in Fla. this weekend for business and stopped in fri. night and played the tournament. I was involved in the chop. They chopped based on ICM and I took $1200. First was $2K and 2nd was around $1500. I thought the tournament structure was excellent. Soft game that is for sure. I will definitely make the trip back as I have family that lives about 5 mi. away.

I didn't sit in any live action games as I was with 5 other people. (only reason why I took the chop). Seems like a good place to play some poker and make some money.

nothing is free at daytona. 2.00 botted water, 2.25 sodas, 1.00 jackpot drop. they have various promos throughout the week: high hands, cracked aces, etc... comps are slim like .40c and hr maybe. i dunno

I have not heard anything about this. I hope its not true or else my regular room Tampa hard rock will lose 100's of regular fish that drive from Orlando.

I'd imagine if they were ever able to open one in Orlando, it would hurt most of the poker rooms in Florida. All that tourist money...

But, in PA, that is the rumor going around. Dprociak, I'm with you.. hope it's true.
